I just saw a post on another thread that disturbed me. Apparently someone had posted on another thread that they had a good experience with Apple Scooters and highly recommended them. Someone came in and said they would not use Apple Scooters, simply because they thought someone from Apple Scooters was posting good reviews here on the DIS for advertisement. I myself have recommended Apple Scooters many, many times here on the DIS. We have always received excellent service and have never had a problem with any of their ECVs. In fact, we used them in Dec and currently have another ECV booked through them for our March 21st-31st trip. We have used them multiple times with absolutely no problems and would highly recommend them. I would hope that just because we are one of the many fans here on the DIS that do recommend them, that we don't get accused of having made up a fake name and advertising for them. Afterall I've been a long time member of the DIS since 2004 and my over 14,000 post numbers show I am not a new member.:rotfl: We are simply one of their long time satisfied customers. With them being one of the preferred venders and as busy as they are, they don't need to advertise for more business.:rotfl:

When I went looking for stroller rentals last night I saw multiple positive recent reviews for Apple. I got excited when I saw that the rental is actually free right now, well $7 a day really and a $10 delivery but then I noticed almost all of the recent posts about them with positive reviews have been from brand new members with just one post.

I admit I became suspect also and wasn't sure about using them because #1. the posts seemed planted #2. the price is so cheap it makes me leery.

I am glad to hear you are a long time happy customer though that makes me feel a little better about possibly using them. :thumbsup2

Hi Aubriee,
I know you speak highly of Apple but you may want to read the post below.

Since joining this board back in 2010 I've noticed a lot of posts concerning Apple Scooter. In fact, the number of posts "seem” a bit disproportionate compared to posts concerning Buena Vista Scooters (a very large, well known company) and Walker Mobility (also large, well known and in business for over 30 years) for a company like Apple Scooter that started in January 2008. So I did some research and the results are upsetting to say the least as I hope this board is not populated by ad agency spam posts.

I did a Google search for Apple Scooters and in the first page of results I noticed a post from the Disboards so I clicked on "More results from Disboards" and was confused because some of the results had copyright info at the end, why? I've never seen copyright info on posts so I checked the company that held the copyright, Jelsoft Ltd. and Googled Jelsoft Ltd. The company overview I found was disturbing. It upsets me to think and leads me to believe that many "users" of this board may well be spam ad agency posts when nearly ANY Apple Scooter info is provided as a legitimate Disboard user opinion, but you decide.

Please Google Jelsoft Ltd. for more information.

My Google search for the posts looked like this: Apple Scooter Corp Orlando, FL site:www.disboards.com

I've seen several long time posters, including aubrie, who frequently offer lots of great advice based on first hand experience recommend Apple. When looking for a wheelchair for DD13 for our upcoming trip, of the companies who deliver to the resort, Apple's the only one who shows a 16" manual chair on their website so based on the experiences of trusted posters I booked with them.

Yes there have been several brand new posters coming on saying good things about Apple. Over the past couple of years there have also been a lot of posts by people going on about how when they had problems even with their own personal chairs they were able to call Apple so I bet people are seeing this and booking. In the past month or so there have been several bad reviews so while yes it's possible that Apple's been creating false users to post these good reviews, maybe it's also possible that lurkers are feeling like their good experiences are a good reason to create a userid in order to counter the negative posts.

I'm basically ignoring the majority of the posts and sticking with what I've read from the long time posters around here. I'll admit that some of the recent negative reports do have me nervous. One that's really standing out in my mind is one where the chair never showed up at the resort but Apple insisted that it did and wouldn't replace it or refund their money. I'm choosing to believe that these are one-off situations. I like the rose coloured sky in my world and only want to see what I want to see. :)

I'm a long time member of the Disboards. I tried 2 different rental companies before I tried Apple. Yes, I turned to them because their prices were cheaper. I've used them at least 6 times now and will again in April. Have I had problems with the scooters? yes. Have they come immediately when I called? yes. And I like they way the scooters are taken apart to fit in my car. So easy and quick.

Thanks! I too have seen those few negative posts and on almost every one have posted about our good experiences with Apple Scooters. I am not doubting that some may have had bad experiences, but know that we have rented from them multiple times and have never had anything but good experiences. We used to always rent my mom's ECV from Walkers, but got a bad ECV from them a few years ago, so on our next trip a few months later went with Apple (after reading a good report about them here on the DIS, shortly after they opened). We've used them several times a year ever since and have never had a single problem with their ECVs or service. They have dropped off and picked up the ECVs from the same WDW resort, we've done split stays where they have dropped off and picked up at different WDW resorts, have done pick up at an offsite resort, then picked up at a Universal resort, have dropped off and picked up at timeshares, etc and have never had a single problem. The ECVs have always been there with our name on it. Now sometimes they've put my mom's name on it and sometimes they've put mine, but the ECV has always been there. lol Believe me, as a long time poster here on the DIS, if we had ever had a bad experience with them, I would have reported it.:rotfl: My 80 y/o 5'10" 220lb mom loves their Go Go Elite scooters and always tells me to request a red one. So far they have always honored her request and we've never had a single problem with any of their ECVs. Now saying that, I've probably jinxed us and we'll have nothing but trouble with her ECV on our late March trip.:rotfl::rotfl: Not really!, but if we do, I have no doubt Apple will take care of us. Like BonnieA I too like how quick and easy their Go Go Elite ECVs assemble and disassemble, making them super easy to get in and out of the rental car. As an AP holder I go to WDW 4-6 times a year and my husband can't always come with me. Even on trips where it's just me and my mom, I can easily handle my mom's ECV. She moves kinda slow, so by the time she gets off the ECV, in the car, gets her seat belt on, and gets my GPS out, I can usually have the ECV disassembled and in the car. Even with my bad back, it's light enough for me to handle.

I do hope they are not advertising here on the DIS. The bad reports started cropping up after they got put on the Preferred Venders list. I think they may have almost outgrew themselves too quickly and had some minor growing pains, during that time. As busy as they are though, I just can't see the need for them to advertise. They should be getting plenty of business, just from repeat customers and word of mouth.

I'm the person who said I may consider no longer using them based on the number of recent posts. In the past week or two I've seen at least 5 posts by people who start a new thread titled Apple Scooters and post a positive review, however, that is their only post to disboards. The poster does not then respond anywhere and it seems that their only reason for registering and posting was the review.

I've had good experiences renting from Apple and have recommended them to many people. I don't like what feels like a deliberate marketing push without interaction with board members. I will be informing Apple of my concerns.

You are wrong. I have personally read at least six threads and numerous posts made by new ids with one post only, posting only to shill for Apple rentals (scooters on this board, strollers on the Families board). Obviously done by Apple employees.

I personally have never used this company and have no use for their services. I just find their advertising here to be annoying.

Edited to add - tactics are changing, but another obvious shilling thread:

It "might" not be Apple employees posting. A poster on the Families board said that Apple called them for feedback. Perhaps Apple is saying "well, if you were happy with our services, would you post that on the Dis Boards?" That could be the explanation for the "first-time" posters.

I have seen signs in restaurants and resorts that say things to the effect of "if you like us, please post that on Tripadvisor" (or "like" us on Facebook).

In all honesty, I don't care who is posting...we have used Apple two or three times a year for several years. The only time we had any issues with our ECV, there was an Apple rep who met us quickly (in the park) and swapped the scooter for another one.
Apple has proven (to us, at least) that they are professional and provide great service.
We used Walker once and we were happy with their service but felt the ECV itself seemed large and bulky.
So...it's Apple for us as long as they keep providing us with good service.

I agree! We were using Apple before all these new threads started popping up. I was also posting positive reviews for Apple anytime anyone asked for someone to recommend an ECV company and will continue to do so. However, if we ever have problems with them, you better believe I will be posting the opposite.:rotfl:

I have also used them on multiple occasions with nothing but great results. They even tried to help me out by getting me a new battery even though I was not a customer of theirs and it was my personal scooter. When they could not help me they pointed me in the right direction of where to get new batteries. The only reason that they couldn't help me was because all of their batteries that they had until their new shipment came in, was they were all used.

Last year when Disney broke my personal scooter, Apple quickly got a replacement one to me to use the rest of the trip.

I have had nothing but positive results with them and will use them again if I need to.

I also am a long time poster on these boards.

and I, too have found what I believe to be fake posts done by Apple Scooter. There just seems to be too much coincidence, here. With time we shall see if any of these posters will post anywhere else, here.

We have used Apple in the past and will probably use them again, but I have to say I don't like this practice.

The software that powers this board is called VBulletin.
Jelsoft is the company that developed and serves VBulletin, so I would expect that if someone specifically does a search using DISBOARDS as the site, you may end up with a Gelsoft copyright.
The VBulletin software also includes a component that pulls ads (I think that is powered by Google) based on key words or things the reader has been looking at.

Some of the posts brought up in that search also include negative posts and posts from someone who registered with the site only to make a negative post and never posted again.
Even thought the company only began in 2008, they legitimately had a lot of posts from long established posters. As far as I remember, 2008 was a name change to Apple from something further down in the alphabet. A lot of companies choose names from the beginning of the alphabet to be the first company that comes up.(my all time favorite company name for that sort of naming is Aaardvark).

That thread was started by an established poster, so I think it's a stretch to say it is part of a tactic by Apple Scooter employees.
It "might" not be Apple employees posting. A poster on the Families board said that Apple called them for feedback. Perhaps Apple is saying "well, if you were happy with our services, would you post that on the Dis Boards?" That could be the explanation for the "first-time" posters.

This.
I have looked at where (IPS) those single posts were posted from (at least the ones on this board) and they are from a wide variety of established internet providers (including Comcast, Verizon, Roadrunner) from a wide variety of places. So, it's likely that your guess is a correct guess.
Disboards is the busiest of the Disney related forums, so it would be likely for a company to tell people to post here. The posts just began recently, so they may have only recently started asking people to post like that.

Do I like that kind of posting?
No, so I am deleting posts from people who seem to have registered only/mostly to make that post. There are also other companies where people have registered just to post good reviews. When I see those, I delete them too.

And, the advice I have given for a long time still holds true - look at the website, contact the company by calling or email. Go with the company that seems to give what you need and you have a good feeling about.

These threads are getting bothersome. Closing this one
