WISH Away the Pounds *~*Fabulous February Challenge*~* Everyone Welcome <3

Morning all! QOTD for Wednesday February 19, 2014:

Weight Watchers, Atkins, counting calories, low-fat,You on a Diet, NutriSystem, Jennie Craig, the grapefruit diet.... there are SO MANY diet and weight-loss plans out there. How did you decide what would be best for YOU and how do you plan to incorporate it into the rest of your life???

BBL to chat!..........P

OK something is going on with my subscriptions - this one is missing completely from my user CP list and I and not getting notifications on others that are in there!! UGH.. but anyway..

So for me, I have type 2 diabetes and need to watch my carb intake.. last year right at this time I started Atkins and by summer had lost about 20ish lbs but I couldn't stick with it - BBQ's Chips and FRESH FRUIT was my downfall.. well fast forward to the Dr appt in Jan 2014 and my numbers had crept back up and the Dr warned I'd be giving myself a shot if they were not back down my next appt (which will be in april) I've since joined WW - because I don't mind track but now I do both the WW Points plus in one column and then the Carbs in column two.. doing my best to merge the two plans so we'll see what happens .. I joined on 1/29 and have lost 5lbs to date.. last week was only .1 but I wasn't watching my carbs as well as week 1 soooooo back to better watching the carb intake and we'll see on Saturday what is going on.. the Hubs and I have also joined the gym at work we lately can only seem to manage getting there 2 or 3 days a week due to other conflicts and SNOW! but that is 2 or 3 days more then before!

oh and it's snowing again.. we got some Saturday, more yesterday and well more today REALLY it could quit anytime!!

At the moment WW. I used it in the past and then at some point I got kind of angry with myself that I was not able to just do it on my own and did not want to give money to a company every month just to loose weight. So I went into calorie counting and used Sparkpeople to keep track of my calories. There were things I liked about it as it also told me the distribution of calories eaten for carbs, protein and fat, so it really helped me to incorporate more protein in my diet. But in the end I as I had a range of calories to be in every day, I tended to eat at the higher range since that was still within in the limit. It seemed that I found it easier to play the system (which actually is more a way of self-sabotage than anything). I prefer having a strict number of points every day to try to stick to. I also find it easier to plan meals with points than with calories. So I am back at WW and am quite happy with it. Now I just really need to stick to my points! I still struggle with that! :goodvibes

I admit I am a Ideal Protein drop out. I couldn't maintain their plan while training for the long distances. However, it works so I will be picking it back up as soon as we get back. What I like about it is that there are phases. Phase one is hard! It's mostly their food, but as you go up in phases it brings in more real food and less of their food.

Just popping in to say hey!! Headed for the airport around 2. I will post when we land.

I hope everyone has a great week and weekend!!

Safe travels to you!! Can't wait to hear from you when you return!

Hi everyone! Sorry for my absence. I was waiting on a job offer that I really thought I had, and was ready to pop on here and announce it, but of course, I haven't heard anything yet. Still optimistic about it, but essentially, it is back to the drawing board, so to speak.

I'll say a prayer for you and your job search.

Thank you to everyone for all of the hugs and well wishes - things have been looking up. I realized I really just needed a project that wasn't so emotionally straining. Finding a job and facing rejection isn't as fun as it sounds haha So, my dad's 70th birthday is coming up next month and since he hates the idea of getting older and what it means, I've decided to create a book - 70 Years of Memories - to remind him how many lives he has touched over his many years. It gives me a project and I think its a good idea (thank you, Pinterest!)!!

GREAT idea!!

I take a One-A-Day Women's vitamin with lunch and a B-12 supplement every morning. I happen to have a B-12 deficiency, which means I am very sensitive to cold temperatures (even in the summer, you'll always find me with a jacket), and don't have as much energy as most without these lovely supplements. B-12 was prescribed by my doctor, and the One-A-Day's just make me feel good. I don't know what it is, or if it is just a placebo effect, but I do feel stronger taking them on a regular basis.

Glad you feel better taking them... even if it is only placebo!

Hope everything went smoothly yesterday and that your DS is nice and safe in warm temperatures!!

He's over the ocean right now.... due to land in CR in about 2 hours.

WW all the way! It helped me last year to get down 15 pounds, and so far it has given me amazing results in conjunction with exercise this year. I chose it because of its flexibility and because I don't punish myself for slipping up. I love charts and graphs, and WW lets me see my progress every step up the way - even when it is very little, it still looks like a lot! :)

:thumbsup2

Sorry about that!

I'll tell you now, that the WW/low carb combo is a tough one... as I'm sure you can attest to. WW is essentially a low-fat diet and low carb/Atkins is an essentially high fat/high protein diet. So finding just the right foods to keep you full, satisfied and staying within your PPV AND your carb target can be challenging! I give you big PROPS for working at it! Have you found any particular foods that are a good choice for both WW and low carb? I have discovered a few that can be helpful and I'll share if you would like.

Yup..... I'm DONE with this stupid snow too! Coming down like a bat out of he** right now, as we speak! I didn't even know it was supposed to snow AGAIN today!! Weather reports says this will only be 1-2 inches.... but yesterday's blanket was supposed to be 2-4" and turned out to be more like 10-12"!!

Happy Wednesday friends! I didn't post this morning because I told myself that no chatting until the workout was done! I finished my circuit training workout before lunch, but then got into a cleaning project and forgot to pop on here again until now!

As I mentioned above, DS's plane is currently over the ocean enroute to CR. They left on time from the school and both flights (from Boston to NC and NC to CR) left on time. He was able to sleep on the bus to the airport and again on the first flight, so hopefully he won't arrive absolutely exhausted.

With DS's poultry allergy, we don't eat much chicken or turkey here, so with him gone this week, I am looking forward to enjoying it a few times! DH was supposed to stop for a rotisserie chicken on his way home from the gym today, but the way it is snowing now, I told him to skip the market if he thought that the roads were too bad. If that is the case, we'll have eggs instead.

I'm in the middle of cleaning up my scrapbooking area in the hopes that with so much time to myself next week (school vacation and no kids at home!) I get to sit there for a few days! So off to finish that massive project! .................P

Evening all! My.... things are really quiet here lately. And I'm sure they will be quieter over the weekend with Lisa and Buffy gone off to FL!

Got a FB message from DS about 30 minutes ago.... they are safe and sound in CR. We tried a Skype call, but the wi-fi kept dropping the call... but at least I heard a "hi". He messaged that he would try again later. He has a VOIP type phone app on his smartphone, but he was having trouble getting that to work as well. Oh well.

I've had dinner and a bath, so I'll off to find a snack and watch some tv while I do a bit of scrapping! I'll be on in the morning with the QOTD!............P

Popping in to say hello and catch up. I'm exhausted today and having tummy troubles. Decided to have a green smoothie since I'm not in the mood for anything else. Well, I take that back. I could totally go for a peanut butter and sugar free jam sandwich but I'm not ready to eat bread yet so that won't work.

As for the QOTD, I'm doing Atkins. I had done WW in the past but I was hungry all the time. I decided to back on Atkins after having done it in '04. I'm now firmly convinced that my body is very sensitive to too many carbs and not in a good way. Now that I'm in a routine of carb control my energy level has gone up, I'm in a better mood and I'm more mentally alert.

I am doing WW online - so no meeting! :goodvibes I keep wondering whether I would be more successful if I went to the meetings though... Might give me some additional motivation?!

Hope you are feeling better today! I find it interesting what you say about carb control. Over the last few weeks I have been really good at eliminating a lot of "white carbs". I love my carbs, but I try to be good with my choice of what I eat. I found the more complex (?) carbs I eat, the less hungry I am.

---

I went to the doctor again today, and it seems that finally my wound is getting where it is supposed to be. I am so tired of having to eal with that! I am supposed to be there again on Monday and I hope that by then he is finally happy with the progress. I can already tell that I am starting to have far more energy again!

This weekend will bring some challenges with family events, but I am determined to make good choices! And maybe I will be able to move a little bit more than over the last two weeks. The one thing I struggle with the most is social events that include eating. I always have the urge to use it as an excuse to splurge. I will try to not do that this weekend!

Hoping that I will have a good weigh in tomorrow, that would be the best motivation boost for being good this weekend!

Morning all! Here is the QOTD and I'll BBL to chat... I'm off to work for now!

QOTD for Thursday, February 20, 2014:

Well.... here it is... the day before weigh-in AGAIN. Thinking back on the past week, do you feel that you have done EVERYTHING that you needed/wanted to do to have a successful weigh-in day? If not, what would you like to change and what steps are you going to take going forward to make those changes?

If your week was GREAT, how to you plan to keep having great weeks?

I am doing fairly well I think.. I am keeping my points at around 26 (22-26) and my Carbs about 70 (60-75) for the most part.. I find that egs at breakfast and using the WW veggie soup is helping at lunchtime is helping quite a bit I do allow myself about 6 or 7 frozen (no sugar added) raspberries for my yogurt (activia light vanilla).. I've gotten a bag of baked lays for when I want the salty crunch of a chip and if I have 5 that is enough.. I do keep a stash of SF chocolate at my desk for my lunch dessert - just one piece a day.. and I chew lots of gum.. fruity ones in the am and mint ones in the afternoon..
Please give me your suggestions I would love to hear what you have found..

YAY scrapbooking! I have a weekend getaway next month!! can't even wait

Glad to here your DS is there safe and sound.. Enjoy your week "off" and do lots of things YOU want - I know it hard when the kids are home to do our own stuff so this is a great time to catch up!

Well I have done almost eveything I can - my workouts have fallen to the wayside this week.. I went on Monday but we got a snowstorm on Tuesday so I skipped, then yesterday we got more snow, today we need to clean up from those two because after dark we are expecing sleet/freezing rain/snow over night again! so I'll go again on Friday - hopefully it will help my WI on Sat am..
HOWEVER with that said my food has been ON TRACK! I was emotional last night and wanted to eat everything under the sun but I had a hot cup of tea then I relaxed on the couch and the kitty jumped right up and we had a GREAT snuggle I also managed to plan out all my food for next week! for me it's all about the planning, that is how I find I am successful.
BBL to chat Michelle

Good morning, all! Well, I'm officially off the fitness bandwagon this week. Only completed 3 out of 6 workouts and with so much going on, I've decided to just give myself time to rest with everything going on. I'm trying not to see it as a failure, as I am staying OP food wise. Plus, I did want to add an extra week to my workout plan before moving up in the Power90 video series. I was hoping to do it to feel more comfortable about moving up, but now I'll do it because I need to make up for this week!

We'll see how that's reflected tomorrow morning at my W/I!

Evening all! My.... things are really quiet here lately. And I'm sure they will be quieter over the weekend with Lisa and Buffy gone off to FL!

It is really quiet! With the weather, and everything going on, and everyone being sick, it is quite a strange time.

Got a FB message from DS about 30 minutes ago.... they are safe and sound in CR.

So glad to hear your DS arrived safely! I'm sure he is going to have a fabulous time in CR! And as others have said - enjoy yourself this week!!

I went to the doctor again today, and it seems that finally my wound is getting where it is supposed to be. I am so tired of having to eal with that! I am supposed to be there again on Monday and I hope that by then he is finally happy with the progress. I can already tell that I am starting to have far more energy again!

YAY! Very glad to hear that! You got this, Flossbolna! And sending lots of good vibes for all your family events this weekend!

Hmmm... Well, this is my 7th week in my weight loss journey (this time around), and its the first one where I've just been mentally and physically beat. I'm disappointed that I couldn't get the fitness in that I wanted, if only because afterwards, I usually feel so accomplished, and it really does make me feel better, even if I'm sick. But, I'm telling myself that if I let my body rest and get strong this week, then come Sunday when I start again, I'll be ready to kick some serious butt!

Next week will be my last week on Power90 1-2, before I move up to Power90 3-4! So, since it will be my last week with these moves, I'm going to give it my all!

I was emotional last night and wanted to eat everything under the sun but I had a hot cup of tea then I relaxed on the couch and the kitty jumped right up and we had a GREAT snuggle I also managed to plan out all my food for next week! for me it's all about the planning, that is how I find I am successful.

Hey all! Just a quick drive-by post to say hello! I'm on my lunch and won't have any other free time today to post until I get home.

Hope you all are well! TTYL.....................P

Hi all! We are all updated! So sorry for the delay this week... it has been crazy... wedding plans are in full swing here! Only 25 days left and I getting super stressed trying to make sure everything is done and ready and paid for. Good news is that I went in for my final dress fitting and my dress looked amazing! Some of you might remember that I ordered it a size too small so I am glad it fits... Actually, I would like to lose another 10 lbs before the big day and I can't lose any more than that or my dress might be too big!

Anyway, I'll be back later with some replies :)

Back again! Got an offer for a job today, but unfortunately the salary was lower than I make now. :( Hoping to negotiate it up!

Good Monday morning all!! Here is your QOTD for Monday, February 17, 2014:

Are you a COLLECTOR? What do you collect? Do you believe that your collection enhances your life or just adds clutter? Do you think that there is any correlation between home clutter, emotional clutter, and weight issues?

I used to go to a lot of estate sales and liked glass, old cat stuff, etc. but don't do that hardly at all anymore. and of course everything Disney. Well, older stuff anyway--had to be Walt Disney Productions or older. I don't know much about the psychology of it...

Bleh, off topic.

Our dog Sugar (15.5 year old dachshund) took a huge turn for the worse this morning. She once again had paralysis in her hind legs, and in addition the doctor thought the hair loss might be a mrsa infection because it had started to get worse again. So we made the really hard decision to let her go. The vet was great and very supportive. I really felt like that was what he wanted us to do, because while we could treat her, she was just progressively getting sicker. It was just so hard, because she had a really great weekend and was very active and alert (well at least for her). It is so strange, because for the first time in over 25 years we don't have a pet. :sad2:

I did want to jump in and say good luck to everyone running this weekend. I wish you all a great race(s) and wonderful weather. :)

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Morning all! Quick drive-by QOTD as I dash out the door for work. But I"ll be back after lunch (early release day today).

QOTD for Tuesday, February 18, 2014:

Do you take any kinds of vitamins or health supplements? It is something you decided to take or was it recommended by a health professional? If you don't, do you think you should? Or do they think they are a waste of money?

Oh good lord I am a vitamin fiend. Thanks to Dr. Oz....I try to keep the spending under control buying online and I keep organized with those daily pill things. I keep waiting to turn into Supergirl but it hasn't happened yet....

I just try to eat less and exercise more. Sometimes it works.

Morning all! Here is the QOTD and I'll BBL to chat... I'm off to work for now!

QOTD for Thursday, February 20, 2014:

If not, what would you like to change and what steps are you going to take going forward to make those changes?

If your week was GREAT, how to you plan to keep having great weeks?

Well I think I did but I was sabotaged by husband putting bacon in the burgers he made while I slept! Woke up starving after a nap after work and went and piled on some bacon and guacamole on the cheeseburgers he made then halfway through eating mine he told me he put bacon in the burger. Well I wasn't going to stop at that point. I also am back to snacking too much at night, I noticed I do eat less if I eat some almonds right after working out but I forgot to do that last night and snacked too much. Also I think I ate too many almonds the night before, just a handful works good.

Have been busy my days off, moved my daughter to a quad in the university area where her friend has a room. It's kind of weird coincidence I lived in the same quad when I was pregnant with her--her friend is in the room I lived in. Saw an ultrasound picture of the baby and I guess it makes it more real, but she miscarried once before when she was 4 months along so I'm still just... it was such an extraordinarily painful experience for all of us.
We've been warmer this week with a lot of rain. I got caught in the rain on my bike on the way home last week so I haven't rode since. Am up 2 pounds as of this am, but I'm pretty sure my monthly fun thing coming up has something to do with that-- well that and girl scout cookies. ::yes::
Well, I better get....

Okay ladies.... I came on here to chat before hitting the TM, but just as I sat down DS was on FB and I had a nice PM conversation with him. He is doing great and posted some beautiful pictures. SO happy to hear from him!! But I need to hit the TM before it gets any later. So I know you'll understand when I say TTYL!.........................P

Glad you found a good carb balance for your life!

I am doing WW online - so no meeting! :goodvibes I keep wondering whether I would be more successful if I went to the meetings though... Might give me some additional motivation?!

Well, I admit that I did WW "on my own" most recently (since 2008), but I really counted on this group here to help me out. That being said, I have done WW meetings in the past and REALLY enjoyed them and looked forward to them. It may help. The reason I stopped attending "real" meetings was proximity.... it was just too far a drive to commit to at that point in my life.

:thumbsup2

I also need to be "good" this weekend. I am going to visit DD and it does seem like it is always an "excuse" to overeat (free buffets do that to me!) or make bad choices.

I wasn't aware that you could have that many carbs. I kind of figured you were trying to keep it under 30 or 40. I know that Atkins induction wants it under 20 (if I recall properly). Let me pull out my "list" and I'll send you some suggestions later.

YAY scrapbooking! I have a weekend getaway next month!! can't even wait

I really enjoyed the time I spent there yesterday, but of course, got caught up doing other things.... but it was SO NICE to be back at it. It's been a LOOOONG time since I took the time to work at my favorite hobby!

Glad to here your DS is there safe and sound.. Enjoy your week "off" and do lots of things YOU want - I know it hard when the kids are home to do our own stuff so this is a great time to catch up!

I plan to do a few museums and such... things that no one else ever wants to do with me!

Glad the kitty snuggle helped! Sounds like a good plan for me tonight after dinner.... a hot cup of tea and a warm kitty in my lap!

Well, even if the number isn't what you are hoping for, you will keep moving forward, right???

So glad to hear your DS arrived safely! I'm sure he is going to have a fabulous time in CR! And as others have said - enjoy yourself this week!!

Thanks! I'm calling it my "retirement practice"!! :lmao:

Good way to think about.... resting and rebuilding the body to hit it again hard next week!

:cheer2: WTG on the tea! And I have been thinking about adopting a cat for a long time, and just listening to you talk about snuggling with yours while you plan your meals makes me all smiley and giggly!!!!

I think this one is available for adoption!! :cat:

sometimes we all need a break - glad you are keeping postivie about yours! and great job staying on food plan !

We got her 2 days before thanksgiving from the local shelter she is 3yrs old - she hid under our bed for about 8 weeks and now about a month later she is getting that yes we are big and loud but we will not hurt her so she is coming to us for petting and such and just in the past 2 weeks has starting climbing up on me if I am cuddled in my fuzzy eeyore blanket that my DD made me for Xmas.. a Long wait and still a ways to go but very very worth it!!

Adopted kitties are the BEST!

WOOHOO on that dress! Can't wait to see pictures of the big day! I can't believe it is just 25 days away!!

Back again! Got an offer for a job today, but unfortunately the salary was lower than I make now. :( Hoping to negotiate it up!

It is definitely a stepping stone at least!

Pictures pictures!!!! I love wedding pictures!!! Please send us some as soon as you can! I'm sure you look STUNNING and I'm so happy for you that you feel so great in it! :)

Me too! I want to see pictures!

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Sweet of you to post that for Rose!

Mmmmmm... bacon cheese burgers.... with guacamole! I'm so hungry!

Prayers for your daughter, of course. Sorry about the rain!
****************

Evening friends! Well..... I keep getting interrupted here so now I have no time left to chat. Dinner takes an hour to bake and it is already after 5pm and I haven't started it yet! I did hit the TM and did a nice stretch after, so that was something. I left on my workout clothes and I plan to do just a few minutes of weight while dinner cooks.

I'm off to DD's university tomorrow after work. I'm going to stay over with her and hit a museum with her on Saturday that she needs to visit for her Aesthetics class. Maybe some tourist sights too, if the weather is okay. I'll be back either late Saturday or on Sunday to start my week of ME time!

I'll try to pop on tomorrow, but I am working, so I don't know about my computer access. TTYL...............P

Waiting for the 5K to start!! So excited!! Met Lisa and Kathy this morning. So happy to faces to names.
Got on the bus at 4, we were here by 4:30. Kids are a little impatient but we'll be off and running before they know it.

Besides being delicious, they also represent a big thing in weight loss - getting stuck, or plateauing, which brings us to today's QOTD!

Friday, February 21st QOTD: Have you ever been through a plateau? How long were you in it, and what steps did you take to get out of it? If you haven't had one, what steps do you take to prevent one?

And in the spirit of getting stuck... to something delicious, here is an amazing HEALTHY mini sticky bun recipe that is only 2 WW P+s :)

Happy weigh-ins and I'll BBL to chat!

AWESOME :cool1::thumbsup2 for the dress being amazing!!! Don't stress take some deep breaths ask for help if you need it and enjoy your last few "single" haaa days..

I LOVE THIS ... I have quite a few fur babies waiting for me.. can't wait see each and everyone one of them again someday..
prayer coming your way for your DD..
sorry about the extra bacon

HUGS to you Rose for the loss of Sugar..
