Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Good Morning All!!! College would be nice!!! I've thought about high school, but I'm very comfortable where I am....been at the same school for 10 years, so it's kind of like family. Plus DS12 is there with me and the two youngest are next door at the elementary school....guess I'm staying put for a while  So glad to see you, Shelia!! :goodvibes Sorry about Bella. It's never easy watching our pets go through so much. You're kidding??!! More snow?! Crazy, isn't it??!! Y'all need some warm weather for sure!!! Think Disney!!!!! We've considered staying at CBR just to see what it's all about. The bus situation isn't sounding too promising, though  Excellent news!!! Light crowds!!! Glad things are going well!!!! :thumbsup2:thumbsup2 Love that place!!!!! Good advice!!! I like that area, too. Unfortunately for us, we would have to get a room with the Murphy bed which means less storage. Of course that would deter me from going  Thanks! Teaching definitely has it's problems, but the pros outweigh the cons. I'm fortunate to be in an excellent school system. And just wait to all 3 of your kids are doing different after school activities  Life gets crazier than ever .... but fun! ;) Y'all will have a blast! You're right about the New Year's crowds....:scared1: Way busy!!! The decorations are out of this world beautiful! You won't be sorry that you experienced Disney at Christmas. NOT tacky at all!!! We did the same thing when my sister's family went on a cruise with us....we went down several days before and enjoyed our time at the AKL CL. Give them the option of joining....if they can't, they can't;) Oh wow!! More snow!!! Positive thoughts of Disney will always make things better  Well that makes life much easier:thumbsup2 Now y'all don't have to run around all over the world chasing the kids....or at least you don't have to do as much chasing ;) Excellent!!! Can't wait to hear all about it! I'll be waiting ;) Bless your heart  Just think....it will all be over soon. And you can do this, girlie!!! :thumbsup2

So we have had freezing rain since 5:30 this morning here and the roads are ice. Did we cancel school though? No, of course not...so I have half of my 1st hour right now and since they called the city buses off the roads, not thinking I will have a full class all day. Movie day! :-) and lots of Disney planning on my part! Woohoo!

I actually like the Alligator Bayou side of POR and love the idea of the Murphy bed for DD so she can have her own bed instead of sharing with DS. LOVE all the trees, especially the Spanish moss hanging down, etc. I'm thinking I could sell POR to DH because of all the shade (since the sun is brutal in the summer)! I need to do some more Disney math so I can tell him the savings (and potential savings with the possible discount). Without the discount I think it's about the same (plus we get an extra day!) Haven't decided if I should propose 2 extra days or not...WITH the discount, the 2 extra days would be the same as now...but I don't want to push it with DH since I'm lucky he went along with the trip to begin with!

Have a great Monday, everyone! :-)

Heather: What a great set up with your school and the kids! And I agree, I have been at my job (which was part time since high school) for 25 years this year and everyone there is like family.

And yes to Disney dreaming....too much snow this year!!

 The kids break my heart, I miss them so much....it's all for a good reason...and I am almost done training and will be on my own with a normal (for me) schedule:thumbsup2

I am looking at May...what is wrong with me...all this snow :worried:

Jeanette: I can't blame you for looking at May, :rolleyes1 apparently I cannot wait too long between trips anymore either.

So sorry you are missing your kiddies, but wow you are awesome!! It will all be worth it soon right??

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
We have a holiday here today....Family Day so we are all home! So exciting! We are watching the Ski Aerials at the Olympics and an athlete from our hometown of Milton just made it into the finals!! His name is Travis Gerrits...give a cheer for him!:dance3:

Also, DH finally put up our Boston video from last July so if anyone would like to have a look let me know and I will PM you the link.

Much love and hugs to everyone!

Jen

That's great!! Now you can relax!:thumbsup2

Yes, so glad that part is done!!!

Now, I have to take care of the flights, but the schedule does not open up until 3/3/14. We have the $1100 in credits with SW, I just want to have our flight times narrowed down though!!!! I want specific times and hope to be able to get them, non-stop. 2 weeks from today, that will be taken care of too!!!

Nothing is wrong with you....Disney keeps you sane;) Think warm Florida sunshine!!! Like my hubby always told me when I was in grad school, it's a means to an end....it's not forever. You'll be finished before you know it. Don't beat yourself up about it. If you ever need any moral support, call me! I know what you're going through....been there, done that;)

You got this!!!! :hug: ::yes::

What??!! More snow  We're out for President's Day. At least it's a movie day for you:laughing:

You're right....having 2 separate beds is a definite positive. Quite honestly you can't go wrong there.

And yes to Disney dreaming....too much snow this year!!

I'm very blessed with my job and the school situation for the kids. When things don't go well, I have to remind myself of why I chose this profession and all the positives.

The snow will be gone soon!!!!!!!

Thank-you Heather  I know you totally get it. One week at a time LOL. Last week threw me off..that said I have 96/98 averages in my two classes. And I have been invited to join Sigma Theta Tau- The nurses honor society. So I'll get a cool golden lanyard with my gown. I think I can...I think I can...Disney is totally my happy place. And if all goes well a trip to Jacksonville for graduation in January will be in order!!!

I heard there are new mugs!!! :-) Do we have anyone there now who can confirm or get us a pic?

I have never done any switching like this before.
We are leaving tomorrow morning.
I called today and changed our resort from Caribbean Beach to Wilderness Lodge.
I could not bear the thought of NOT being at WL. And I got quite lucky as annual passholder rates were still available.

Definitely happier now...:goodvibes

How awesome!!! No brainer in my book. You switched from our least favorite to our absolute favorite!!! Enjoy your trip!!! :dance3:

So out of the blue yesterday, DS starts talking about the next time we go to Disney and what he wants to do, etc. I reminded him that we weren't going anytime soon, that we were just going to do a couple weekend trips to Chicago and St. Louis instead. Explained how expensive it was and how he seemed to not appreciate when we did go, that he couldn't expect to go every year...

Hopefully I threw him off! :-)

DD said she wanted to see the princesses the other day, like THAT day. Lol. So impatient.

Can't wait to surprise them both. :-)

Just popping in to say hello :goodvibes I've been trying to at least lurk and stay caught up! Sparkly, enjoy your trip !!! And I have NO changes to report. Finishing up a 76 hour week....starting a new one..LOTS of homework. Miss my RC family!!!

:cheer2: and !!! You can do this!!!

Good Morning All!!!

College would be nice!!! I've thought about high school, but I'm very comfortable where I am....been at the same school for 10 years, so it's kind of like family. Plus DS12 is there with me and the two youngest are next door at the elementary school....guess I'm staying put for a while
I LOVED subbing in DD's school last year! Not only did it put me close to her for kindergarten but her teachers got to know me better. It's got to be such a relief to know your kids are nearby and you can be there for them in a heartbeat.

And just wait to all 3 of your kids are doing different after school activities  Life gets crazier than ever .... but fun! ;)

Def NOT looking forward to that! It's been a struggle coordinating doctor appointments for LO and ensure I'm home in time for DD6! My friend has a 13 year old, 7 year old, and 9 month old... I don't know how she gets everyone to all the right places because her boys are activity hounds. She's a boss!

Y'all will have a blast!
Give them the option of joining....if they can't, they can't;)

I do let my mind go crazy when I let myself think about it and I know once the plans are laid, I'll be able to focus on the fun!
DH is just really paranoid about stepping on toes, though I pointed out to him no one minded making the decision to go to Disney without me and yet who did planning fall to? So, I feel my reward should be some snow on Main Street. :cool1:

*shakes head* that's just stinky! Our district often airs on the side of TOO cautious but I prefer that over the alternative. It stinks to have half-full rooms, though... just makes it harder to actually make the day worthwhile.

I love the Mansions but DH and I both agree when the girls are older we will have to consider the AB rooms just for the bed set-up. DD6 swims in her sleep and LO has proven to be adept at scooting marathons in her crib overnight... I hate to think of what sort of synchronized swimming they would end up doing in the same bed! :boat:

WOW - nursing school is a beast! My good friend is in second year now and I don't know how she manages to find 27 hours in the day! :goodvibes to all the awesome students!

I heard there are new mugs!!! :-) Do we have anyone there now who can confirm or get us a pic?

yay: OOOOOOH!!!!!!!: popcorn::

LOVE IT! :woohoo: What a way to start with a bang! Have a great trip!!!

-----------------------------------------------------------
DD had to go to school today as a make-up day but DH is off so we had a WONDERFUL breakfast with LO and were able to talk to each other! Love our 6 year old but she never stops for air! :)

I'm getting an AP!!! :yay:
We did the math and it's $50 more for me to get an AP than to buy the tickets needed for our two trips... and with the AP we can get TiW which will come in VERY handy for the trips.

That's the only change I have now, though I did touch base with the TA who helped me with rates for December to see if she can do anything better for September. We shall see!!!

:wave2: to everyone and Happy Monday! Stay warm!

:cheer2: and !!! You can do this!!!

OOOOOOOooooooooooOOOOoooooo an AP!!! NICE!

Nursing school was SO hard, possibly harder than getting my Masters, but I didn't have 2 jobs and 5 kiddos then so I guess everything is relative ::yes:: And thank you

Yeah to the AP! We should've gotten them on one of our many trips. Probably would've saved us money when we went two times within a year's timeframe. Oh well...

New mugs!!

We saw the new mugs in the food court earlier, typical they come out the day we go home! We only had the choice of green or purple.

Now we're sitting at the airport, waiting for our plane. :( I actually got teary eyed coming out of MK last night, I really wish we had another week.

Hi Peeps :wave2:

Janet and Sue I am so sorry you have to deal with such a hard situation. There is nothing like seeing a once spry and strong slowly retreat into themselves and suffer with such debilitating issues. My step-dad's mom is going through Alzheimer's and dementia right now and it's just devastating: she no longer remembers me or my husband and has it in her head that we (with her son) are against her so we minimize any visits, which is gut-wrenching for my step-dad. He feels like he's neglecting her but doesn't want to cause added stress. I also dealt with this with my father's parents and my mom's dad started to go through similar before passing... just makes me appreciate the amazing lives they led and am grateful for the time we had. One bright thing is that my mom's mom is showing signs of dementia but pictures of my DD's seem to help her focus so I love sending boku pictures to try and help - required bragging!

Thanks dimnigal1... and as you are no stranger to these diseases, I'm sorry for you too. And thankful that your DD's are helping your grandmother focus and remember. My mom has my DS Paul on her brain alot. Looking forward to when he can visit with her.

HUGS to all of you with ailing parents or parents with health issues. I feel for you, and them. I know we will all be there one day, but what a hard thing to go through. :grouphug::grouphug::grouphug:

Thanks my friend

And a super big HI and I MISS YOU to everyone here!!

Miss you Deena!!! :goodvibes

Awwww. I agree 100%. I am thinking of you and SueM both. My Dad is very early stages. His Mom lived with Alzeimers 'til her upper 90s. Hoping Dad is spared this same fate.

Thanks Magic... and I know you have had your share as well.

Janet... sorry to hear about your mom, too. Sounds like you are trying to look at things from a positive perspective and remember all the good times. Parents getting older is a scary thing because most of us are there or close to it. Hope you're staying warm up there in the land of the frozen!!!

Hi Heather, and appreciate the hugs... I do try to focus on the positives.

Tomorrow, we are "leaving Dodge" for Daytona for the Saturday night race. On the way, we are taking Mom to GF Cafe for Valentine's Day lunch, and a spin around her favorite monorail to her favorite resort, CR, for a little shopping and Castle eye candy. Then a relaxing evening at Daytona, and Fan Zone at the track before the race Saturday. Company will be in town all next week. So, next time you hear from me I will be a certified MAD WOMAN with juggling all the work that will be awaiting my return and my visitors needs. :crazy2:

Hoping Mom had a fantastic Valentine's Day lunch, with some scrumptious castle eye candy for dessert :) (funny you had me thinking of CandyLand when I read this!!). :goodvibes

Did you get lucky at the races?? ::yes::

:
I noticed your ticker, you're going to POR, right? That is a really nice mod. It has a great resort feel, it's very green, lots of lush gardens. I also love their gift shop. I nearly always try to zip over there when we're at WDW. I think it's one of the best on property.
Great pools, good food...and beignets just down the path, you're going to have a wonderful time!!!:dance3: :dance3: :dance3:

Hi Ginny!! And Koh, I agree on all the POR love. :goodvibes

This is a classic RC strategy. Switch to a cheaper resort with the purpose of "adding nights for the same or cheaper price" and then end up with the longer stay in a deluxe resort. :rotfl2:

:rotfl:

Dimndgal1 -- you and Mousemommy had me laughing out loud!! so funny!

Happy Be-lated Valentine Greetings To All!

I am so far behind not sure I will ever catch up:sad2:

Been dreaming about another trip but not knowing what the future holds do to Bella's condition which is the same. I can not wait for nice weather so that we can get a bit more aggressive with her and hopefully able to venture outside with her.

We are considering getting her a Doggie wheelchair if the traction socks, sling and rear leg lift do not work.

Waiting on another storm later today another 2-4 inches and then there is one coming Mon into Tues and guess who has a Dr Appt for Tues. I tried to call to cancel yesterday but the office was closed due to the snow :crazy2:

Hope everyone is well :goodvibes

Sheila, hoping Bella will respond to excerise once you are able to get out and about more... and feel better Sheila.
