FP+ AS-IS: Thumbs Up or Thumbs Down?

If FP+ stays AS-IS, do you give it a Thumbs Up or a Thumbs Down?

  • Thumbs Up

  • Thumbs Down

  • Haven't experienced FP+ yet in the parks

  • Other (undecided, don't care, what's FP?, etc.)

We just got back today from a six day stay. I liked everything about the MB's. They were really easy to use for park entry, rides, purchasing things and getting into the resort room, etc. I liked having the ability to schedule fp+'s. It was a lot better to know that I had a guaranteed fp for a ride. But the limit of three fp+ a day at only one park was ridiculous. We like to park hop and there was only one fp+ I needed at HS, one fp+ I wanted at AK, and a whole bunch I would have liked to have at MK. And the kicker is that they aren't limiting everyone to three fp's a day. They are only limiting resort guests. That is what is so hard to understand.

But I must admit I loved the ability to schedule the fp+'s while at the park. It was really nice to walk up to a ride, schedule a fp+, and then walk on the ride a few minutes later, ahead of the long standby line. This could work great if there was more flexibility in the number of fp+ you can use per day.

What do you mean they aren't limiting three FP+ for everyone? Who can get more and how many:confused3? Just wondering if I missed something. We are going this spring and I made our reservations. Hate that I can't have multiple parks as we do one in the morning and a different in the evening.

I was just there Tuesday & they are limiting you to 3 FP+ All in the same park per day. I'm an AP holder & could only make 3. Which I did a week before my day trip & linked to my MB. This was at the MK - people were using the kiosks to schedule their same day FPs.

If you do RD at the first park you go to you can make your FP+ for the afternoon park. On Tuesday the major rides were only a 20 minute wait at 10:45am. That's what we do.

The post you quoted was from early December when the paper FP machines were still active in all of the parks.

Thumbs down for my family!

We've visited twice with the new system- once in Thanksgiving staying on-site and last weekend staying off-site. We are annual passholders.

We were not able to pre-book our rides for our Thanksgiving trip because my father-in-law is retired military and couldn't get his discount tickets until actually at the park gate with his ID. Then, they linked his tickets to his magicband and did not give him any other means to get fastpasses. We were at a kiosk in DHS at 8:50am and were not able to get ANY fastpasses for TSMM for any time during the day. Since the legacy machines were still up, my family could get them using our AP's but my mother and father in law didn't get to ride with us. The same happened at Epcot with Test Track.

This weekend, since we stayed off-site, I waited in line at the Magic Kingdom for 45 minutes to make my fastpass selections. The stand-by lines were shorter at two of my three attractions than the time I spent in the fastpass+ line. That was my fault.

Our AP's expire in April and sadly we are not renewing either.

Thumbs down! I am so annoyed that as AP holders, we cannot book in advance unless we stay at a resort. I think that it's unfair they punish people who live nearby or have family nearby and would rather stay with them. I also find the tier system very frustrating and think that there should be a way to park hop and still get Fastpasses.

I voted thumbs down because, while I liked it when I used it at Epcot on New Year's Eve, limiting fast passes to three a day at one park isn't enough. This limit will cause me to not spend all day in a park (I have an AP).

Did u have MBs from your earlier onsite stay? We have our APs linked to our MBs & were able to book all our FP+ using MDE last week for our trip on Tuesday. We didn't have to use the kiosks at all. We've been able to do that since October.

Thumbs down :(. I don't wanna plan my rides 60 days in advance. 3 is not enough per park and only 1 park per day stinks. We like riding some rides more than once and I used to be able to do that w/out standing in the stand by line. We were there early December and twice (on different days) I tried to switch times but there wasn't anything available later. It was still relatively early in the day (and not peak season) so I would have been able to get a paper FP for later.

Thumbs down. If someone can explain to me why guests visiting on days with "short hours", (such as 9:00-7:00 in the MK) and guests visiting on days with "long hours" (such as 8:00-1:00 a.m. in the MK) each get the same number of FPs (3), I'll be willing to listen. But as for now, the rigidity of 3 per day, the tiering, and the inability to park hop and the inability of people to make advance reservations whilst staying at a hotel that they booked through Central Reservations (hello Swan and Dolphin!), make this a thumbs down.

The things I mentioned are all easy fixes. Allow people to make one advance FP reservation every three hours. (And then allow them to move those times around once they are in the park if times are available.) People who are in the park from 8:00-midnight would then get 5 FPs. Opening up the system to anyone who booked through Disney's reservation sysem should also be a piece of cake. And tiering is just plain stupid. While the system seems to work best for the MK, at DHS, it is a disaster. There are so few attractions there that Disney is pretty much going to push people out of that park. Whereas before, loyal Disney fans would go there and ride the headliners three to five times per day since there is little else to do. Now, you are pretty much limited to twice per day on some rides, and once per day on others, unless you can stomach a 75 minute wait. But most hard corp Disney fans won't do that. They'll simply leave. I feel pretty safe in saying that no one will ever post here that their total rides on ToT, RnR, ST and TSM increased by using FP+. So if your total rides in a park with few rides to start with decreases, how can that be a positive?

Or how about this idea that probably nobody has ever thought of --

Allow a new FP+ just as soon as your current FP+ window opens, OR 2 hours (which comes first).

oh, wait... ;)

Thumbs up- given that it is currently the only fast pass system I would much rather have fp+ than No fp at all

Now that paper FP (FP-) no longer exists, I can understand how the poll question could be interpreted this way.

But the poll was really intended to elicit opinions about FP+ vs. FP-.

As of February 27, 2014, the numbers in this poll are :

Thumbs Up -- 47 (16.21%)
Thumbs Down -- 196 (67.59%)
Not Experienced FP+ Yet -- 40 (13.79%)
Other - 7 (2.41%)

Percentages are staying remarkably stable.

Update as of March 27, 2014:

Thumbs Up -- 49 (15.65%)
Thumbs Down -- 214 (68.37%)
Not Experienced FP+ Yet -- 43 (13.74%)
Other - 7 (2.24%)

When you vote, please post your FP+ experience for us, OK?

Thanks.

I voted thumbs up.

While I would like to see a few tweaks, the fact is that I've now made two trips (one while no tiering/FP- was usable and one with tiering/no FP-) and I find it to be better than the old system, for me and my style of touring and my ability/comfort level to use technology.

I like enough about the current system that I will continue to go to WDW and use the system as is and enjoy myself. I made mine both trips, I revised in the weeks before, I changed on the fly, I changed whole days the night before going to a different park then planned and with the exeption of Soarin on my Oct trip was able to make all changes with my smart phone or tablet with no problems.

What I like:

I would rather have all my FP's in place at once in advance, than have to do the old get one, wait, get another one, wait.

I like being able to change them wherever I'm at if something changes in the day.

As for Tweaks:

I think they need 4 at least per park (maybe 5 at MK) or I think they need the revolving FP so that after you use your three you can get one (at a time) as space is available in the parks. (honestly I think this is way more important to families I'm a solo or two adult visitior and 3 DOES work for me most of the time which is why I'd be okay with the current system, but it would be nice to have one more for MK at least)

I think you should be able to split your total number per day between the parks. Not get 3 per day/per park, but if you get 3 then you should be able to use one at MK and two at HS.

I gave it a thumbs up. Really it's not perfect but it works better for us than the old FP did. I liked being able to make changes on the go and to choose the time slot vs. being stuck with whatever the return time was when you went to pull a FP. And love not having to crisscross around the parks just to get FP. Would be nice if some options changed, but overall we were happy with it when we used it.
