Day 10 - Part 3 - "Did that really just happen???"
.
.
Kira and I headed back to the room for some showers. I tried putting some cartoons on for her but all day long, this is what was coming up...
.
NADA!
UGH!
Rob called down to GS for suggestions on fixing the TV. They told us how to reset it (I think you had to press down on two buttons at the same time?) and VOILA! It worked! Apparently, it is a common problem!
Kira requested some more chicken strips, so I happy obliged because she would not be joining us for dinner this evening.
After we were all properly coiffed, it was time to drop off Kira at the club. There was no way I was going to take her back to the main dining room so that she could wait 30 minutes for a milk and 60 minutes for food!
Plus, tonight was Pluto's pyjama party, so it worked out perfectly!
Passing the chaos of deck 3 Atrium...
Tonight's dinner was in Royal Court and we were even early!!! That NEVER happens! HAHAHAH!
Everybody strolled in a few minutes later and soon after, Jaime, our head server, showed up to talk to the 4 of us. I can't recall exactly what he said but the jist of it was that someone had spoken to him about the service on the first night and that if there was anything we needed to just let him know. He hinted that he had spoken to our server and assistant server and that service would be MUCH better this evening.
Boy, was he wrong
Geez, I almost don't even want to talk about this because it just brings up bad memories but then that wouldn't be fair to just leave you all hanging like that
Our servers came by and asked where Kira was. I didn't say what I really wanted to say, instead I just said "She didn't want to miss Pluto's Pyjama Party in the clubs".
Okay, so let's get this over with...
It all started with the French Onion Soup that the 4 of us ordered.
And here's a few more appetizers...
The soup was BAD! It was REALLY salty! Considering I am someone who LOVES salt and will automatically salt everything before I even taste it because I just know that it won't be salty enough for me, that is saying a LOT!
Not a big deal though, and I wasn't planning on complaining about it. But when Sergio came by and noticed all 4 of us had barely touched our soup, he asked. Rob politely said it was a little too salty for
him.
Then Sergio looked at the 3 of us (Chuck, Nancy and I) and asked us why we weren't eating it and we all agreed that it was really salty.
And this is where it got ugly...
Sergio then placed himself at the head of the table, near us and demanded everyone's attention. He proceeded to
lecture us about how everything on the cruise was "excellent" and that if we did not enjoy something, it was because of personal taste and NOT because the food is bad.
He then stated that "these four people here" said the soup was too salty and wondered how that can be when Walt, down over at the other end of the table, said it was delicious! He went on the say that obviously the soup IS delicious and clearly, we were wrong.
He was snarky, rude and extremely offensive!
The whole time, I was looking at Nancy, who was across from me, just staring at her with wide eyes thinking to myself "Did he really just say that????"
I was completely shocked and speechless.
I need to rewind just a little bit, back to when we ordered our food. Nancy did not find anything appetizing as an entree so she had asked if she could order off the kids menu. Kira's menu had been sitting right there and she looked at it and thought the spaghetti and meatballs would be good. No problem, Okim said he could bring it for her!
So, it ended up being Sergio who brought her the spaghetti and what happened next shocked me even more than the "everything is good" speech.
First of all, he started speaking to her like she was a child.
"Here you go little miss, I have your spaghetti and meatballs for you, little girl"
"Here, let me cut that for you, little girl"
then he proceed to cut her spaghetti up!!!!!!!!!
Oh, thank the Lord that Nancy is polite and doesn't like to cause a scene because if he had TRIED that with me, I would have stabbed his hands with my fork!!!
Oh My God!!
And from that moment on, he treated her like a child!!! Told her that if she didn't eat every single bite, that she wasn't allowed dessert.
I swear, I don't know if he was being funny, serious or WHAT because it was RIDICULOUS and went way beyond trying to be cute or funny!
He left and she just looked at me and said "Did that really just happen?"
I will let her tell you about wrestling Sergio for her fork....
Nancy was so put off, there was no way she could enjoy the rest of her dinner. I was just stunned and relayed to Rob (who didn't hear any of it) what just happened.
We quietly ate our dinner, kind of shocked and pissed off.
Pre-Sergio Spaghetti and Meatballs...
Nancy ate every single bite, except one single pea. I don't know if she did it to be sarcastic or just because she was so pissed at him LOL!
The food was good, but it was COLD. Chuck's was stone cold and he asked Okim to have the kitchen reheat it.
Mine was slightly warmer than his but I didn't trust myself to speak to our servers anymore. I was afraid that if I opened my mouth, nothing but really bad things would come out and I wouldn't be able to stop myself.
It took about 30 minutes for Chuck to get his steak back and he said it was just slightly warmer than it was originally. He ate his steak while we all ate our desserts!
Again, getting drinks that night was like pulling teeth! It's not like we wanted specialty cocktails or something, we were drinking iced tea and diet coke!!!
Dinner was done and we practically ran out of there. In fact, I think Nancy and Chuck DID run out because one minute they were there and the next, they were gone!
Even Robin asked me what happened to Nancy and Chuck. I don't blame them, I don't think I have ever even HEARD of a dining room experience like that before! I read a LOT of trip reports and although I've heard and experienced some bad service before, that took the CAKE!!!
We went to the club to pick up Kira. This was the first time I had gone in to get her, instead of Rob. They swipe your card, tell you what part of the club/lab she is in, hand you a visitor pass that is attached to a lanyard and then you go find your kid.
When I found her, she was on the floor colouring a pillow case. I told her to finish up and then it was time to go. Looking around, I saw tons of little ones just sitting there doing nothing. Some of them had no markers to colour with and didn't know what to do so they just sat there. I felt terrible for them, so I scrounged up some extra markers and passed them out to them. That made them so happy!
Obviously, a very packed night in the Clubs and there clearly was not enough staff on hand for this. It was fine for maybe 6 years and up for not for under 6 because they need extra help and weren't getting it. There must have been about 40 kids all sitting/laying down on the Magic Play Floor and I counted exactly two counsellors! Not good enough, Disney, not good enough!
Rob snapped this pic of Kira and I walking away from the Club and while I hate pics of my large behind, I do love this one of me and my little girl.
She couldn't wait to show us her masterpiece...
Back to the cabin...
And then finally, cookies (already finished), milk and daddy cuddles...
