Things to do on rainy days

Hello! We fly down this Monday 1/27 and it looks like there is a chance of rain for both Monday and Tuesday. Does anyone do anything special/different on rainy days? Thanks!

Honestly, we hit the parks and walked onto every ride, but that was in the summer so it was warm despite loads of rain. I did have to buy us all new socks once the rain eased up, but it was loads of fun.

I haven't been to WDW in years, but plan on Disney Quest for our "set-in rainy day" back up when we go in April.

We usually put our ponchos on & hit either MK or Epcot. Our day ends up being shorter than if it wasn't raining but the queues are pretty non-existent so it cancels it out slightly. Other option is Disney Quest, always a fun visit. Sometimes we just mill around DTD for an afternoon & have a lazy morning in hotel room.

Agree with toughing it out, getting wet, and going to the parks anyway. For my family, the time in Disney is so valuable and we wait so long for it, that we can't let anything, rain, cold, being tired, get in the way!

Hey we are first timers flying out the same day! Arriving later on the 27th, but heading to Animal Kingdom on the Tuesday! I've been checking the weather daily and it changes drastically from day to day....I'm actually looking forward to even shorter lines! We have our rain ponchos packed and are ready to take on the World!

When we went to disney 2 years ago in June it poured every day at 3:00pm! It was like on a schedule and after getting soaked 2 days in a row we finally went out and bought umbrellas and ponchos lol

One time it started pouring when we were at Epcot. We were in Norway. IT gave us time to look at the museum, and shop a little. It was still raining 45 minutes later. My parents thought ahead and had poncho's. Not us, and DD 2 had a rain cover for the stroller. My DH and I still walked in the rain. We had a fun time, and I was very happy for flip flops. This time we will have poncho's and if it rains we will just go with the flow. Maybe hit some rides, or go to a show.

Along the same lines...do any outside attractions close during the rain? Obviously I know thunder/lightning would be a different story. But if it's just rain, does it impact any of the attractions?

Test Track closes; I think that's it.

Oh, and buy your ponchos BEFORE your trip!

LoL definitely buy ponchos before u go...we made that mistake 2 years ago the first day we got poured on I tried to get a ponch inside MK and they were $10 a piece lol I won't make that mistake again lol

Depends - those ponchos are pretty durable. We have used ours on at least 15 trips. If they get torn (happened twice), we take them to a shop that sells them and they are replaced at no cost.

We also tough it out. We have tried DisneyQuest on a rainy day and discovered that TONS of people (it felt like everyone at Disney) also think indoor DisneyQuest is a great idea. Long lines, kids who had either been dropped off or parents just not watching them were them running all over the place. Other ideas: Tour the other resorts (if using Disney transport you may have short waits in the rain but you will not be constantly in the rain. While there visit the archade or grab a snack/drink/meal at their food court. Make a dining reservation at a new hotel/resort. If you have a car hit a store and buy a game or two to play in the room (or Downtown Disney has the Once Upon A Toy Store for games-you also get a souvenir to take home). Most resorts have a children's wait area with Disney cartoons showing, watch them for little while. Bring a book and read. I'm sure others have more ideas.

We will be there next week as well and looks like potentially 3 days if rain, what I am wondering is what kind if shoes to wear.

I'm afraid my sneakers will soak through. But my rain boots are probably to big and heavy to pack in the suitcase. Advice in rainy day foot wear?

Sorry to hijack the thread, I didn't think my question really warrants it's own thread lol

I have had mine about that long. It never would have occurred to me to have them replaced at no charge. I just used clear packaging tape to make repairs. I don't think they are meant to last forever.

TC :cool1:

Some other options would be to go to the AMC movie theater and see a movie while the weather passes. You could also go to Splitsville and go bowling. Visiting some of the resorts is another great idea. I think it would have to be raining pretty bad for us to pass on going to the parks though.
