Josh is the voice of reason on FP+

There are thousands upon thousands of internet boards. Trust me, this one is not the mildest out there.

I don't even read the ugly boards. Don't want that stuff in my life.

They're not all "ugly". They just allow a more rough-and-tumble kind of debate.

I love it when I can dive into an argument with the reasonable expectation that the other person isn't going to take, "You're wrong!" as a personal attack.

And I REALLY enjoy the occasional (or not-so-occasional) off-colour joke.

Yes, but this is NOT true for AP holders. The question is whether that's really true for previous visitors with MBs, with tickets still on their MBs, but no resort reservation.
yes if an AP holder has a previous resort reservation they can then go to the parks and use FP+. The guys from the dis unplugged podcast all have APs and they also have test resort reservations in their account this allows them to book FP+ without that resort reservation they would not be able to have FP+ yet.

Yes, but this is NOT true for AP holders (meaning they don't need a resort reservation once they have a MB). The question is whether that's really true for previous visitors with MBs, with tickets still on their MBs, but no resort reservation.

For AP holders you have to have a resort reservation once to allow you to make FP+ reservations. But, after that, you can still make FP+ reservations for up to 7 days even though you don't have any pending resort reservations.

Using me as the example, I had a resort reservation in December and made FP+ reservations for that trip. Now that I'm back, I can still make FP+ reservations for future dates even though I don't have any active resort reservations.

Edit: I see that you edited and clarified your previous post.

So, the question is, if I now linked an old no expiration ticket to my account, could I make FP+ reservations using that for the number of remaining days on that ticket?

my guess for the last question is probably not because you would need that resort reservation just like an AP holder.

Yes you could. That is how we used FP+ in July. You'd have to dig way back to find the posts but we were given a 1 day hopper to test with and it had like a 2wk expiration date on it so even though it was used up, because it wasn't expired, we could make new FP+ reservations every day for 1 day and as we used that day up we could book for the next day until the posted expiration date on the ticket.

His contempt and disdain for people here is obvious, but for some reason, Disers still love him. :confused3

I don't think his snark applies to all DISers, but even if it did, he gives great planning and touring advice, some of the best I've encountered. I prefer his writing style and attitude. There are singers and actors who have political views that I disagree with (and I'm sure they don't care a whit about me personally) but I still listen to their music and watch their movies because I can separate the two...

I don't think we are communicating this well. You don't need a CURRENT resort reservation. You just need to have had one in the past that got you a Magic Band. In the scenario from the question, it's someone who had a resort reservation in the past, and got a Magic Band, and has a ticket attached to their MDE account (maybe an old NE ticket or any ticket). Can they make FP reservations? The poster above (delmar411) says yes.

I like his posts and his crowd calendars, but I agree with you, he definitely goes overboard on the contempt for the Disboards.

According to some we are all crazy here. I wouldn't go that far, at least I don't think that I'm crazy.

I love Josh's wit though. He is right - this is all doable. The question is whether some of us WANT to do it in that manner. Or maybe I'm getting tired of the constant arguing that goes nowhere....

Yes, doable is different than wanting to do something.

I know that I really liked the concept when I first heard about it because I hate rope drop. But now I have to go to rope drop anyway if I want to ride more than 1 or 2 or maybe 3 rides? So what exactly has improved here?

well that is what I meant if I wasn't coming across like I was supposed to I apologize for confusion but I would agree as long as you have that initial resort stay you should be able to make FP+ reservations.

I know, right?

Some people would faint over "snark" on other forums. Ever try a birth board, PP? Or another Disney (sort of Disney) board that you get banned here for mentioning? If you think the Dis is bad, don't venture anywhere else for your own sake.

Oh yeah, the birth boards. Babycenter could make a grown man cry :)

Yep. That's where I'm talking about. A bunch of hormonal pregnant women in one place with light moderation? I genuinely think some people here would cry. The drama and snark levels are through the roof.

So with FP+ you can only ride 1-3 rides if you don't hit the parks at RD? I really think that's a little extreme. There are rides and shows that you can get into with little to no wait all day long. Or you can ride during parades and fireworks. Or you can ride at the end of the day. And you have your 3 FP+.

I don't mind snark, myself. I rather enjoy it. But to condemn snark with snark seems funny and somewhat ironic to me.

The reason I think this should (or at least might) work is that if you go to the MDE site and try to link tickets there is a way to link older tickets by entering some ID numbers. Some of our family members have some days left on old non expiring hopper tickets, but we haven't tried to link them because we have current annual passes and don't want mess anything up or run the risk of having those days taken off when we enter a park.

I linked a 10-day hopper I bought in 2010 with no problem. It is also finally a way to see how many days you have left without being in Orlando or Anaheim. I can make FP+ reservations if I want for my upcoming trip but I don't want to make them in advance (or most likely at all) so I haven't.

I wouldn't say that the Disboards is the worst of the forums, far from it. But like someone else mentioned everything turns into a crisis of the worst kind here. There is so much angst over some the smallest things from SOME Disers.

I don't include FP+ in that. FP+ is a big deal when it comes to WDW vacations.

Thanks, that's what I would have expected, but I don't want to try it until I no longer have an active AP.

I am a bit familiar with IPod Touch (not using it though) but I heard that the older ones are no longer being supported by Apple for updates so wouldn't buying an older one be useless? /QUOTE]

It depends in what generation of iPod touch you are talking about. Apple online store sells used current generation and the pervious generation. Which are fully supported (not iOS features may work but at this point its nothing that MDE cares about).

You can keep an eye out here: http://store.apple.com/us/browse/home/specialdeals/ipod/ipod_touch

You might pay a bit more here but it will be supported by apple. Keep an eye out for the 8GB model as it will be the cheapest.
