Josh is the voice of reason on FP+

We are one of those families who do not have a smart phone. We do stay onsite so we can make reservations 60 days out (which I am not really liking only because I feel my vacation is way too structured now). That said, if I need to reschedule a ride for whatever reason, I will either be stuck waiting on a kiosk line or giving up a ride because I do not own a smart phone. I am hoping the kiosk lines will not be awfully long as I want to waste as little time standing on line rearranging my park rides. At least with the old system, I could hand off the passes I could not use and sprinkle another family with a little "magic", and pull a different fast past with virtually little to no wait time.

You can get a used iTouch that will run my disney experience for less than the price of a ticket to Disney world. There is wifi in the park. You don't need a cell phone.

You can get a used iTouch

Agreed.
It will help in searching for a used device to know that the unit you're describing is actually called an "iPod Touch."

(Looks like an iPhone, but does not have the "phone" feature.)

I am a bit familiar with IPod Touch (not using it though) but I heard that the older ones are no longer being supported by Apple for updates so wouldn't buying an older one be useless? Also, I am not so sure about buying someone's used device as you do not know what you are getting.

I have a tracfone with wifi but I can't download the App. It's an LG840.

Not tickets, I didn't think, just APs - 60 days out you can book for 7 consecutive days (it's then a rolling window).

It may not be limited to just APs. I haven't had an occasion to try it, but you might also be able to make FP+ reservations if you have unused days left on a ticket that has not expired. Maybe someone who has remaining days on a ticket with a no expiration option can confirm this.

I would like to know it this as well. I wonder if we will be able to link tickets to a mb from a previous trip or is it limited to AP's?

It depends in what generation of iPod touch you are talking about. Apple online store sells used current generation and the pervious generation. Which are fully supported (not iOS features may work but at this point its nothing that MDE cares about).

Perhaps you all should read a follow up. Apparently you are all a bunch of lunatics!!:lmao:

You should read more posts by Josh on his site. He speaks the truth about Disney whether it's good or bad. It's often delivered in traditional snark...and truthfully...it's pretty damn entertaining. I suggest you read some of the older posts.

And since we are talking about Josh here, I am sure he appreciates the shout out in some god-forsaken way. But when it comes down to it.... a glass of Dalmore 50 Year would probably go further. :drinking1

His contempt and disdain for people here is obvious, but for some reason, Disers still love him. :confused3

Right? Didn't understand that one...

Pretty sure that poster was hoping not to see any threads linking back to Josh's site on the Dis. Because, you know, the Dis should be reserved solely for topics that are of interest... to that poster. :rotfl2:

You don't think that some Disers have earned that treatment? I mean, this is the most snarky board that I frequent - barely tolerable on some days. You guys really try to help people asking for advice, but rip each other apart over the smallest things. It gets really ugly. Not what I expected from a Disney board, but still helpful enough that I come back.

The reason I think this should (or at least might) work is that if you go to the MDE site and try to link tickets there is a way to link older tickets by entering some ID numbers. Some of our family members have some days left on old non expiring hopper tickets, but we haven't tried to link them because we have current annual passes and don't want mess anything up or run the risk of having those days taken off when we enter a park.

you should be able to link older tickets to the MB because they allow so many to be added on the MDE site which would mean they then would be added to the MB. I don't have any old tickets that have days left that I could try this on but I did look at how to link older tickets last week.

Yes, you can totally do that with older tickets, I know those who have done it, but no one has said they were able to make FP+ reservations like an AP holder could. No one has said they couldn't either in my circle of friends. I don't think anyone has tried. But everything I read said that ability was limited to AP holders. So someone should try it out!

:rotfl:This is the most heavily moderated, mildest board I've visited on the internet.

There are thousands upon thousands of internet boards. Trust me, this one is not the mildest out there.

I don't even read the ugly boards. Don't want that stuff in my life.

I know, right?

Some people would faint over "snark" on other forums. Ever try a birth board, PP? Or another Disney (sort of Disney) board that you get banned here for mentioning? If you think the Dis is bad, don't venture anywhere else for your own sake.

I agree! I hang out at Reddit. While the Disney Reddits are fairly well-behaved, some of the others... R/politics makes this place look like a Princess Tea Party.

I once got points here for simply quoting the lyrics to "Under the Sea". True, there was a certain implied context, but still! The words are right there in the song! I didn't add anything! :rotfl2:

There is, however, a certain level of hand-wringing and back-of-hand-to-forehead-ing, that's peculiar to the Dis. Which I find hilarious. So Josh's teasing doesn't bother me, as I don't take myself - or this place! - too seriously anyway.

yeah I believe you had have a resort reservation tied to your account in order to schedule FP+. That resort reservation has to be within the testing period and at a Disney hotel of course.

I wouldn't call it contempt and disdain, but he definitely likes to make sarcastic remarks about people who melt down at how insanely crowded the parks are on level 4 days.

It looks like he is also making remarks like that about people who think that FP+ means that you can't do more than 3 rides in a day without waiting in lines of over an hour. Or that you have to wait hours in line to get FP+ reservations if you are an offsite guest, even if you arrive at opening. Or that the only FP+ reservations offsite guests can get are for "the scraps".

There are plenty of posters on this board who frequently make sarcastic remarks about Disney and FP+, and some would refer to their comments as showing contempt and disdain for Disney or for anyone who disagrees with them. But, for some reason, those posters have people on the boards who love them too.

Personally, I pay attention to Josh (I do not love him) because, once you accept and understand his style, he provides very useful and objective information that helps people understand what is going on at WDW and how to plan their trips. Sometimes you have to dig through a lot of bickering and hyperbole to find that on the Dis.

Yes, but this is NOT true for AP holders (meaning they don't need a resort reservation once they have a MB). The question is whether that's really true for previous visitors with MBs, with tickets still on their MBs, but no resort reservation.

I agree with you all message boards and blogs have people like this. I don't read his articles but I do follow him on twitter and he posts information on there from time to time.
