first trip do-over, the TR: or.....sorry, i got stuck in a tour group!

i'm glad you're here! if you'd like to read about all the pre-trip planning and why we needed a do over (like anybody needs a reason to go to disney, right? :laughing: ), here's a link to my PTR, first trip do-over.

we just got back from our trip--which was january 5-11, 2014. on this trip, was myself, my DH and our two daughters.
this is my DH, Rich.

we've been to disney 3 times together, this being our 4th trip. we've been together for over 13 years, married for 9. he even proposed at disney!

our oldest, hannah, is 6. this was her second trip. she is in kindergarten and loves it--she's such a smartie! she is my little ray of sunshine and a happy, friendly, sweet girl.

our youngest is madison. she just turned 4 at the end of december. this was her second trip also. maddie goes to preschool half days, mostly because i'm not ready for her to go full time yet. she is silly and sweet, a little shy at first, and my cuddly baby girl.

and me, Lori (that's me in the picture with Hannah). i was so excited to plan this do over trip. our first trip with the girls was very crowded and less fun then we had hoped and this trip was a perfect do over for us!

some warnings before i start......
i was a very bad DISer and did not take very many food pictures. usually we were just too hungry and i would forget until we were halfway through our meal. also, it's hard to get a picture with two kids (and a husband ;)) who are ready to eat!

i am having some issues with our photopass pictures, so i don't have them yet to use. i am using pictures from my phone, which i used the whole trip to take pictures. i hope they are ok!

i did not take notes on the trip. i planned to. i bought a notebook. i had it with me. i had good intentions, really I did! i was just too busy enjoying the trip and too exhausted at night :faint: to write much down. i have a few notes on my phone and am relying on pictures to jog my memory. bear with me--and if anything doesn't make sense, you'll know why!

i also wanted to add a few things right away for anyone who may be going soon, and because i don't know where else i would remember to put them, here they are.

**we used our magic bands for everything and they were awesome!! we had no problems at all with them. we used them to get on the magical express at the airport, to get food (snacks in parks, table service and counter/quick service), to get into the parks, for our fast pass stuff, to make room charges, and for our photopass pictures. they were great and, even though i was worried about how they'd be, i really enjoyed having them.

**i bought the regular photopass option before our trip. now they have the memory maker. if you're still up in the air, i'd say get the memory maker. if you buy it before your trip, it's $149 and includes all pictures, ones the photopass photographers take, ones at meals, and ride photos. i didn't think i would want any of those extra things, and didn't want to spend the extra $30 for it. well, i could have saved us $40 because we ended up buying our pictures at two of the character dinners we did. each of those was $35, but would have been free if we'd had MM. also, we did the pirates league and could have had those pictures too. instead, we just took pictures ourselves and didn't buy the photos they took, even though they were SUPER cute! if we had gotten the MM, all of those would have been included....live and learn!
one other thing about pictures--i don't know if it was the time of year, the weather, or what, but i did not see very many photopass photographers out. and the ones out had lines, sometimes kind of long. i was sort of bummed not to get more pictures for our money.

**last, fastpass plus and mydisneyexperinece.com were great! i changed fast passes in the park and checked times and used maps with no problems. it was a really nice thing to have on my phone. i also really liked having the fast passes set up before hand. i really didn't think i would like it, but it worked out super for us!

OK--that all being said, let's get on with this TR! sit down, buckle up and, what the heck? dance if you feel like it!

Well, I'm here, of course, and excited to hear about your trip!!! :woohoo:

Following along

hi! Someone new! I'm so excited! Thanks for following along!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So I noticed that some of my pictures aren't loading today.....that's because I was having issues yesterday with photobucket and clearly messed stuff up. That's what I get for trying to do stuff on my phone. I promise to get it fixed! Also, I've been gone 3 weeks for the holidays and Disney, so, even though I'm chompin' at the bit to get this TR going, work has been keeping me hopping and I just haven't had time to get the first post up. I'm hoping to get off on time tonight so I can get day 1 started! I'm having some Disney blues and want to relive it with all of you!!
And--I did get our photo pass pics edited yesterday and ordered our disc. They should be here by the beginning of next week so I'll have those to share soon too! :yay:
Be back soon with the first post!! Fingers crossed!!
It's tough finding time to write a TR, isn't it?! But I've really been enjoying reliving our trip, and it has really really helped with those Disney blues, to a shocking degree! After our 2011 trip I was so depressed, but returning from this trip has been a breeze. Partially because of some of the latest Disney changes, but I think mostly because of writing the TR. It's really nice to relive the experience. :goodvibes
Ugh real life...always gets in the way of Disney stuff! :lmao: I am excited to hear about the trip, and will be patiently waiting whenever you find the time!:thumbsup2 Writing a TR really does help with the Disney blues in my experience. And once you get done with that then you can start planning another trip!
sunday, jan 5: day 1--will we get out of st louis?
the morning of sunday, january 5, we were up at about 4:30 am, mostly because i couldn't sleep. i thought i'd have a half hour or so to get ready and pack up last minute things, but madison was up a few minutes later. she ran into the kitchen and asked "are we leaving for disney now?!?" when i told her yes, she screamed and ran into the bedroom and woke up her sister. so much for a quiet start to the day!
we all got ready and took our dog out one more time. we loaded up the car and were off the the airport. did i mention that snow and arctic cold temps were on their way to st louis? yeah.....we were crossing our fingers that we'd get out of the airport and thinking we should have tried to leave the night before.
we got to the airport and parked in the long term parking. a bus was already there and he came right over and picked us up. score! no standing in the snow for us. we were the only ones on the bus and took our first vacation picture!
we got checked in and through security quickly. there's something to be said about leaving at the crack of dawn on a sunday!
we didn't have a long wait and boarded with the family group. the flight wasn't full and we had an empty seat in our row, so we got comfy and waited to leave. we got to see the plane get de-iced for the first time. the girls liked watching the "pink stuff" get sprayed on the plane. the pilot said we were probably one of the last planes out, as the airport may close for the storm! woo hoo, pixie dust already!
we finally arrived in orlando and made our way down to hop on the magical express--without getting lost this time! we used our magic bands, no problem, and got in line. there was a bit of a wait as we had just missed a bus, but it wasn't too bad. we made friends with the man behind us. he told us all about our hotel as he had stayed there before and talked about goofy with hannah, since goofy is his favorite character too! the girls also loved that his phone played "scooby, scooby doo, where are you?" when his wife called. he was pretty awesome!
we got on the bus....
and made stops at old key west and one other place, but i can't remember where. we stopped at port orleans french quarter and then came to
the lobby was so pretty and fancy, but was very crowded and i didn't get many pictures, except this one. if anyone reading this is from st louis/missouri, you'll understand why i had to take a picture!
the girls found a little tv and the cutest tiniest chairs and plopped down to watch cartoons. rich got our stroller from bell services and i waited and waited and waited in line. i guess i don't see the point of online check in when you still have to wait forever when you get there. anyway, we got a ground floor room, which we had requested, in parterre building 95 and headed out. everything was so pretty, but of course, i totally failed at picture taking and didn't take any pictures outside of things i wanted to get pictures of. trust me, it was all gorgeous!
after some winding around (possibly because I couldn't find our room....let's just call it enjoying the landscaping!) and strolling through the little flower garden, we made it to our room.....
