I cannot for the life of me picture the indoor/outdoor suite and the regular indoor suite. How are they different?? And why does the indoor/outdoor only come with one potty trip when the indoor comes with two for less money?

I have a 12 year old cocker spaniel and he has to go potty a few times a day or he will go on himself. Not sure what to do.

Also, do the playgroups have to be with other dogs?? He is old, deaf and has cataracts (poor guy) and doesn't play well with others b/c he isn't sure of them with this hearing and sight.

We will be staying at POFQ so I'm sure we will run by and see Pouncer before going to the parks early or after we leave at closing if they will allow us every day.

Any advice on which room type for him and other questions above?? Thanks!

I'm glad you asked this because I was wondering the same thing. We have a cocker spaniel and my mom does too, so we were thinking of boarding them together. I can't imagine only one potty time per day?!

The indoor/outdoor suite has a private outside area in addition to the suite.

Those with the indoor/outdoor suite get just one potty run because they have access to the outdoor area where they can do their "business".

The indoor outdoor has an indoor room and an outdoor patio they can potty on. Depending the heat they will close it and open the doggy door throughout the day. You can get extra potty breaks a la carte.

If you don't want your dog playing with other dogs you can exchange it for a one on one session, but I think those are only 15 minutes while the play group is longer.

They requested we not coming to visit after a certain hour. I believe it was 9 or 10 but I'm not positive. It just helps the dogs from getting amped up.

We will be there in January. So, would the outdoor area be accessible all the time I guess?? Would it make it colder in the indoor area if the weather is cold at that time in Orlando? If so, do they allow blankets?

I may trade the group play for one-on-one. If they did that with him it's all he would need being he is 12 and not that playful. It would be more just to have some attention. Then we would see him another time during the morning or evening. I do worry about them not letting us see Pouncer after park closes but it is January and parks close around 8-9. Guess it will depend on the park closing, huh?

I don't think its open 24/7 to the outside just to regulate temperature in the building and keep outside stuff out. I'm just not sure if it's the door to the patio or another door that goes all the way outside. They do not allow blankets and bedding to be brought in to maintain a flea free environment.

Well that makes me feel better. Maybe it won't be too cold. And to prevent fleas, I can understand not using beds from homes. Makes sense. Now I've just got to decide!

Our dog just spent a happy and healthy two weeks at Best Friends in an indoor/outdoor kennel. We added in a private playtime each day as he is not good at sharing toys. We also visited every couple of days and they offered to let us play with him in a private play area. We loved being able to visit and after a couple of days any aprehension we had was gone and we could relax on vacation. The staff were lovely and helpful. We plan on using Best Friends again. Make sure you ask for any discounts we got AAA and a Military discount, they stacked the two discounts.

Another question for those who have used BF...what about our pet rabbit, Bowser? I have read they have care for them for 11.00 a day. Do they have cages to put them in or do we bring our own pet cage? I have a travel cage but he lives in a hutch my husband built here that has much more room. I hate to think he would be in that little travel cage for 9 nights. Do they play with him often?

An aside- I NEVER in my life thought I'd be posting a question about boarding a rabbit at WDW!! LOL!

This is a long thread and my question may have been answered somewhere in it, but if someone could please tell me if there is any extra charge for administering medications. Our two girls are on several pills and eye drops a couple of times a day and if there is an extra charge, that could break the bank. They are extremely good at taking their meds and eye drops.

If they will board him, will they allow you to put down rug runners? Ducky's hooves slip on slick floors.

I couldn't find the answer to this on their web site either, but they might charge a med fee. I work at a vet clinic and we also offer boarding. We have a per day med fee for administering medication for boarders so if Best Friends does the same hopefully it's just per day and not per med or per times given. I've always been a "dog" person, but now hubby and I live in an apartment and have two kittens, one 7 months and one 2 1/2 months old. I'm looking for reviews from cat owners. The cat "condos" look horribly small. Even the 4 level is just not ideal!!

We are around our cats pretty much 24/7 since hubby works from disabled since I had my stroke last year. We know that are older cat seven-month old is not too happy around other animals our little one seems to be better around other animals.

I'm wondering what the experience is like for the cats. When and where are the play times and are all the cats allowed out at one time or do the cats have individual play times?

We live in Birmingham Alabama and really have no one to watch our Little fur babies while were gone for eight nights. My in-laws have offered to watch both cats, they live about 40 minutes away from Disney but they are chain smokers and they live in a small house....with lots of places for the kitties to get lost... Lots of boxes and bins. Years ago my hubby had a cat that ended up dying from lung cancer and even though it can't be proven that it was from living in the house with chain-smoker's he just doesn't want to take that chance again.

I think Disney, and BFs has really dropped the ball for cat owners, most people do travel to Disney stay longer than just a few days and cats can't be left alone for that long. ** sorry! rant over**

I am a bit confused on the pricing. Does a regular indoor or indoor/outdoor suite not include any playtime whatsoever? Is that all a la carte? This would greatly surprise me as most boarding places include this. Even our local best friends include it, or at least I thought they did (never used it).

So, if you want your dog to play, do you pay for a suite, say $48 and then add $22 for play and stay?

First I saw the doggy suites, and thought to myself, "Wow, those are awesome. I don't have a dog but I suppose if I was travelling with my kitties they could stay here. I can't wait to see what they have for the cats!"

Then I saw pics of the cat condo area.

What the hell?! So I can book a luxurious room for my dog, but can only stick my cat in a kitty jail cell? Are there any you know...real rooms for me to book for a cat? How the heck is my cat supposed to play and exercise in one of those cat condo bookshelves? My cat doesn't warrant a flat screen TV with movies? My cats don't get an option playtime or bedtime stories? NO KITTY PLAYGROUND?!

My husband and I pretty much had the exact same reaction. We saw how awesome the VIP suites are for the dogs...and then cats basically get little multilevel enclosed bookshelves all crammed into a room together. They couldn't even have a couple of VIP cat suites/villas? Just one or two? With a nice big window and a cat tree instead of a TV, perhaps. I wonder if enough people complained if they would add something better for kitties...

That said, it seems like cats always get the short end of the stick. At our local pet stores, half the space is dog food and dog treats with hardly any cat treats and much less variety of cat food. I checked out Petsmart Petshotels and while the dog accommodations aren't nearly as nice as the high end BFPC suites, they're still a nice little room. Cats are stuck with small Vet-esque cages they call cottages.

At least there's a boarding place locally that has an actual suite for cats to use if we have to board our babies, but it really would be nice to have them there with us so we could visit!

My husband worked for petsmart pet hotel for several years and many fewer cats are boarded period..most cat owners do not want to board them and they so not enjoy it as much. They had a few regulars but many full weekends they only had 3 or 4 cats. Our cats would hate it.
