BC or YC for May/June trip - CL differences and renovation issue

Hi,
We are currently planning on staying at the BC. I had read in the BC/YC thread that they may start renovations this summer at the BC. We have never stayed at the BC. We stayed poly CL in Sept and loved it, but thought we would try a different hotel due to the construction and the closure of the volcano pool.

We have 2 boys, 5 and 8, who have been to disney many times. They want a pool with a slide. They have no problem sitting to eat breakfast and enjoyed being able to get a snack and sit in the lounge. They liked being able to eat watching tv at the kids table. My kids are early risers.

If they begin construction on the 5th floor, this is CL, at the BC right? Would we be better off staying at the YC? I wasn't sure the differences and if we would be better off staying at the BC because of the kids. If the CL lounge is being renovated, where do they relocate it? For the amount of money, we wonder how it would impact our trip.

Also, are the CL offerings better at the YC or BC or are they the same? We loved the Poly, but the pool closure there is a deal breaker.

We have stayed at Poly, Pop, Allstars, CBR, CS. It's been awhile, but we have also stayed at GF and the CR before the kids.

Anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks!

We believe the construction on the BC club level lounge will start in June. While the lounge is being rehabbed and expanded, the lounge will be moved to the Presidential Suite.

I believe Disney will do whatever they can to minimize disruption to guests.

The food offerings at both the BC and YC lounges are the same.

I'm not sure whether you would be better off at the YC or BC.

I like the YC lounge better than the BC CL lounge. Once renovated, however, that may change.

If you kiddos like slides they may actually prefer the slide at the BW. The BW CL is better, IMO, as well. Stormalaong Bay is great, but the slide requires going outside the pool area to get to the top.

The Epcot area is great, but the CL's are not as nice as those in the MK area, IMO. Nice, but not as nice. JMHO.

we were at bc cl in april 2013 and I said we'd never go back there. I also find the mk cls to be all around nicer. IMO. we were very used to Poly cl when we tried BC and since thats where you stayed first you may also be disappointed. again...just IMO. If you want to be in the epcot area I say give BW cl a try or perhaps YC cl if you really want to be at the bc/yc.

you may also find that stormalong bay is not so great for your boys, the five year old especially. My son was not quite 4 when we stayed there. It is very spread out and like pp said you have to go outside the pool area and cross a walkway to get to the slides. (big one to the main pool and little one at the bottom of that) We much prefer the pools where it is easy to keep our eyes on the little guy :)

I am a die hard Beach and Yacht Club lover.

HOWEVER: The pool area - specifically the slide is not going to be that great for your kids' ages. You will never get a minute of down time just because of the way it's set up. It's great for babies and great for older and independent swimmers but you have to watch the middle aged kids like hawks. Plus the whole having to leave the pool area to get to the slide is a bit of a bummer.

Maybe try Boardwalk this time and try Beach/Yacht when the boys are a wee bit older?

You'll have a great time no matter what you choose, I just wanted to add my 2 cents so you'll be prepared if you do choose Beach/Yacht.

I agree with all of this. While we prefer the BC/YC to the BWI in general, the BWI CL is much better and the pool slide there would likely be better for young kids. If you are set on the Epcot area, I would give the BWI some serious thought.

If you opt to go for the MK area instead, I have heard great things about GF RPC (pricey) and WL CL (much less pricey).

If you aren't set on a great CL experience and don't mind walking your kids back and forth to the slide, then the BC/YC would likely still be a good fit.

Thanks for all the responses. We were considering CL for the convenience. I am now torn on where to stay. We will be back for another trip in the fall. We plan on being at HS for Star Wars weekend, so wanted to be closer to the HS area.

Can anyone tell me what they serve at BWI CL? Thanks!

Can anyone direct me to the information about the pool closing at the poly? We are going in June and I have talked to several people at Disney and Rey all have said nothing is scheduled. I am so confused!! Lol

BWI CL is my favourite but unfortunately after May 11th there is no availability for a few weeks - inside sources say it's closing for renovation although nothing officially announced yet. I'd been trying since online reservations opened last year but nothing from day 1 of trying, I've settled for the YC CL instead.

I will look up the link but I would hazard a guess that the BWI FAQ thread lists the offerings and has pictures. I know the Beach/Yacht Club page does.

I hear a lot of people say that they prefer the BWI CL over YC / BC CL. Can anyone elaborate? We have stayed at YC CL twice and thought it was pretty good. We are trying BWI CL this August and wondered how it will be different. It seems a lot of people really like the BWI CL!

Our last trip was to Poly CL so I am interested to see how BWI CL compares.

I've only stayed at BC CL but there was a ton of BWI CL/BC CL debate at the time. A certain poster or two felt BWI was way better because the CMs were friendlier and didn't stare at them or rush to clear their dirty dishes. I kid you not. My feeling is that they are likely quite similar and it's a matter of personal preference and whether or not the stars were aligned for your stay.

Now, having stayed at BC CL where almost all of the CL rooms are, I like BC CL better. I can't imagine the hassle of having the CL on a different level from where my room is - which happens at BWI for certain CL room types.

Thanks for all the info. There are no BW CL available for my dates. I like the quick food service options better at the BC. My oldest loves grilled cheese, which you can get the grill and beaches and cream.

I think I may stick with the BC. Now just ave to decide CL or not. I like the idea of grabbing a drink and a snack without messing with the mugs. Also like the idea of grabbing breakfast. My kids like cookies.

I have seen some pictures. What type of food offerings does BC CL have At night? We are familiar with the Poly. They had pot stickers, wings, cheese, crackers, some type of salad, veggies, hummus. The hot appetizers changed. Is it similar? Thanks.
