Our little thread of BIG changes, the neverending saga of the Resort Changers

Good Morning to all! Hope everyone is staying warm. Cold here in South Georgia with a temperature this morning of 28 degrees! That's cold for us!!! ;) Here's a little Florida sunshine to brighten your day. http://s560.photobucket.com/user/hstrick72/media/RC Thread/DSC_4277-1.jpg.html I was up super early to take my parents to the airport - now it's time for some coffee and Dis. Linda - so sorry to hear about your back  Sounds like things are looking better, though, AND you have a vacation planned :thumbsup2 That always helps the spirit. Hope you continue to heal each day. Koh - ya might want to snag that GF deal!!! That's unheard of!!! Holy cow! I just got 20% off our WL CL room yesterday through the Disney Visa....not great, but we'll take it. Think the standard rooms were 30% off. Wookie - any news on your Yellowstone cabin? ;) :surfweb: Back to some TRs now....

I was pricing tickets and flights this morning...lol

You're too sweet! :goodvibes Thanks! At least with the bad weather, I'm getting the upstairs cleaned up. What a mess!!!
Lol, I feel bad for DH stuck at home on this snow day. I'm missing my babies terribly, but he doesn't do well being stuck in the house

Good Morning and Happy New Year to all my RC family!!! Yes it's me and I'm here! Actually I've been here all along .... just reading and enjoying all your changes! I haven't felt like posting much but now it's a new year with new hopes and dreams!

So to catch you up ...... Oct 13th I injured my back .... somehow I managed to end up with 3 compression fractures .... and yes I did it all by coughing! Middle of the night ambulance ride to the hospital, awful doctor and nurse who really did nothing to help me, a couple of phone appointments with my regular doctor since I couldn't get out of bed .... finally was able to get into see the doctor on Dec 4th (Happy Birthday to me), which is when they did another xray and discovered the 3 compression fractures. More meds and referred to PT ... finally a step forward!

Of course I had to cancel my trip to WDW with the Grannies and Wannabees. Very sad and so sorry to miss meeting so many Disers. Thank you Melissa for taking 2 weeks of timeshares off my hands so at least I didn't lose that money! Hope you enjoyed it!

The holidays were hard since I just wasn't able to do all the things that I normally do ... shopping (thank goodness for the internet), wrapping presents, baking and cooking. I did learn that what was really important was having my friends and family around me.

A special thank you to Janet, Christine and Jeanette (my Dis daughter) for your texts, emails and phone calls ... I really appreciated all your support! Thank you to all my other wonderful RC ladies .... I so appreciated your asking about me here on our little thread .... made me feel so loved!

But as I said it's a new year and I'm back planning a late spring vacation ... can't keep this lady down for long .... also DH and I both have a large SW credit to use. Stay tuned to see where I end up!

Hugs to all! :grouphug:
 mama you're so very welcome!
I'm so happy you are back to planning  you are very loved!!!

After spending hours yesterday trying to find a cabin to rent closer than 55 miles to Yellowstone, I finally made the DH talk about our Summer trip. It seems that we had totally different views on what this trip was going to be. I though we would spend at least 2 nights in Estes Park, but he didn't even want to spend 1 night there. We finally compromised and are going to do 1 night. I thought he wanted to leave either the day the DSs got out of school or the next, but he would rather go later in the Summer. Which makes me happy, because The Stanley didn't have any availability in the main building for the dates I thought he wanted. Now I just have to make sure we're home in time for Joey to be back for mandatory Summer football practice. Then he said the thing that had me :scared1: and literally breaking out in itchy hives....he didn't want to make any hotel/cabin reservations at all. He just thinks he can show up at Yellowstone (one of the most popular Summer National Parks) and be able to get a decent hotel/cabin and it not cost an arm and a leg.
men!!! They don't get our obsession with planning a perfect trip..there is a method to our madness after all...

So, got word of an offer almost too good to be true from the travel agency we've used the past 2 WDW trips...$209/night for GF for a specific weekend in July. (3 nights) I SOOOOooo would love to do it. I mean, when would we be able to stay at GF for that price again?? Don't think that it would be in line with DH's plan to save money this year and not do a WDW trip though...
ahhhh krystal, I would SO take that. That's an amazing rate for gf!!! I'm not helping your budget, sorry :(

It's 11 degrees here, and my car is covered in snow...getting paid to play on my phone LOL

Ahhh a beautiful morning pic, great to have ya back

I am stuck. :headache:

My car battery is frozen. AAA gave a timeframe of up to 2 hours....:surfweb:

Hi everyone! New here and I would love some opinions and feedback!

Our family (DH, 2 grade school kids, myself) is planning our 2nd on-site family trip to WDW in September 2014. Our first trip was 2011 and it was fantastic. We stayed at the BCR CL and really liked it. We loved the quick walk to Epcot, Stormalong Bay, etc. And, we liked staying CL. We didn't use the concierge services much - only had a few dining reservations. But, with 2 small kids we loved being able to stop in for a can of pop, quick snack, having breakfast there every morning, etc.

So, for this trip we wanted to try a new deluxe resort and stay CL again. After reading the boards it seemed like BCR's CL doesn't get much love and the other resorts seem to have better lounges, offerings, etc. We originally booked WL but changed our minds. We thought about AKL for a while. We looked at every other resort at WDW and we just couldn't imagine staying anywhere but BCR again. So, we decided to go back and changed our reservation to BCR CL.

Well, last night I was listening to a Disney podcast and they were talking about what a rip-off CL is at Disney now. They said their offerings have gone downhill. It's basically a veggie and cheese plate. They don't really provide any additional services anymore. But, the price keeps going up. So, now I'm doubting everything again. I'm wondering if that's true if you go to WDW a lot. But, we only go every few years so I feel like CL makes the whole trip a little more special and convenient.

I know that this is a subjective topic and what's "worth it" to one person may not be to another. But, I'd love to hear other opinions on it. Trying to decide if we should stick with CL because we loved it last time. Or...are we spending way too much on, for very little return, and should use our money elsewhere.

Thanks for any opinions!

Happy New Year! I've been reading along and trying to keep track of the changes!

Jen - so sorry for the loss of your friend. :-(

Linda - great to see you back and you "sound" so upbeat! Your spring trip sounds amazing.

Wook - we spent a day at Yellowstone 12 years ago. It was sooo cool. I'm with you on not showing up without reservations though!

Candace - hope the car is fixed quickly. Stay warm! I'm still not back to work. Monday is going to kill me!

Hi Heather, pas, dimestoregirl, Koh, gwynne, Marie, Luv, everyone! A big howdy to the new posters!

ToyStory - we have never done CL so not sure I am the best to offer you advice. A lot of the women here love it though. I think we would like it but every time I compare prices, I just can't pull the trigger.

My MIL is dying to join us at WDW. I think we should head down Spring Break if we get APs this year. Lol

Hope everyone is staying warm! This South Georgia girl has trouble dealing with this kind of weather :upsidedow I'm sure y'all Northerners crack up when we say "It's freezing...35 degrees here!"

Candance - hope you are done with "stuck"! Not fun, I'm sure. I get all the "stuck" stories from my sister in CT. She just rolls her eyes when I complain about the 40 degree weather.

ToyStory - I'm probably not a good one to ask about CL. While I really love it, we don't always do it. The price has to be right. I would never ever ever pay rack rate. My family really can't make a meal from the night time appetizers but we definitely love the breakfast....very convenient for us. Drinks are a nice plus, too.

Pas - Your 11 degrees definitely trumps my 35;) Nice to be getting paid for phone time :thumbsup2 How many changes have you made today?? :rolleyes1

Basket - A Spring Break trip sounds WONDERFUL!! I'm debating on the AP thing again. Thinking about adding them on when we go in June. I'm with ya on the Monday work thing!!! Going to be a killer for sure!

Koh - Any luck with pricing? popcorn::

Wookie, I LOVE Phantom!! :-)

Fingers crossed you can convince him. Even though my DH has said "no Disney for a long time", I don't think even he could pass up that price for the GF. Especially since it's his dream resort.

Good Morning to all!

I would love to be there today. Especially after my fil throwing another one of his temper tantrums last night. I could just happily sit in on of the chairs on the beach and not move for the entire day.

Lol, I feel bad for DH stuck at home on this snow day. I'm missing my babies terribly, but he doesn't do well being stuck

My DH loves being stuck at home like that. Then again, it could be because it means he's stuck at home with his computer and can just play Star Wars as much as he wants.

I am stuck. :headache:

I can't even imagine it being cold enough to freeze my minivan battery. We play World of Warcraft with a woman that lived in Canada, I'm guessing pretty far north in Canada (I just can't remember where). We were raiding and on a potty/smoke break. She went outside on her porch to smoke and took her cup of coffee with her. When she was done smoking, she tossed her coffee on the ground, for what ever reason. She said that before it hit the ground, it was already ice and shattered when it did hit the ground. I could never understand how, if it was truly that cold, she could stand outside and smoke.

I wish I could offer some kind of advice on staying CL, but I can't since we have never stayed at the CL on any of our trips. I do want to say :welcome: though

Wookie - any news on your Yellowstone cabin? ;)

Wook - we spent a day at Yellowstone 12 years ago. It was sooo cool. I'm with you on not showing up without reservations though!

The DH has finally given in on doing reservations. He just doesn't want to be tied down to reservations, so we can either spend more time in one area if we want, or go some where else if we want. We haven't made any reservations yet, just because we are still playing around with dates. Now instead of going the 2nd week of June, we're going sometime in July. I would love to go over our anniversary, but that would put us in Yellowstone over the 4th. Which I'm sure is super busy. He said he would talk about it this weekend. I did find a place about 55 miles from Yellowstone, called Moose Creek. We call our oldest son Moose, so I would love to stay there. Although, if we can get a room in one of the lodges in Yellowstone, I might give up the cabin idea.

Happy New Year all!!

Miss: Sure you are having a ball! Hmm.. somehow I suspect you may return before 2015, there are those great BB offers awaiting you)

Pas & Sue: Thanks so much for the good wishes regarding Paul. It was great to have him home, if only for a few days. I've been Florida dreaming the last week, longing to get back there…:)

Pas, missing our Sarah too; she is in my thoughts so often.:littleangel:

Deena, Happy to “see” you back here! It doesn't seem possible our dinner was a month ago. It was so good to meet up with again. Hope you are doing well.

Heather: Welcome back! Remember the door is always open. :goodvibes

dimndgal1: hoping that your surgery goes well. We will be here to help you recoup. Funny story about the call!! :rotfl2:

Sue: Disney gifts…. DH gave me two small Britto Disney figurines (Minnie and Kermit), Sam Mickey earrings and the Brave ornament, DS got to open the Disco Ball Mike ornament, Hmm… thought there was something else… oh a few movies, replaced Little Mermaid and got Wreck it Ralph. :cool1:

Pas, too funny “my most recent change” LOL at least you acknowledge your slight tendency to change LOL … btw it’s a great one!

Jen  so sorry on the loss of your friend….indeed life is too short. Go in March and ENJOY!

Missing many posts, and will catch up on them later. Need to power down and get out of work. Later! :goodvibes

BIG  to you Linda!! So happy to know that you are feeling better and up to posting :) We all missed you here! :flower3:

Will be waiting to hear the latest plans....:)

It would be close to $1000 total if you figure in airfare and food/spending money...a little pricey I'm afraid...and probably about twice as much as a Vegas trip since they'd be using his brother's timeshare most likely. :-(

If you ever make it to Ontario....call me!:goodvibes

Happy New Years to everyone!

I would love to come to Canada. It looks like such a beautiful country.
Don't let her sway you, BC is way better then Ontario :rotfl: and no crazy mayor :scared1:

 then you'll like my most recent change...

1 week at BC CL and 1 week at Anna Maria Island :cloud9:

DH asked I pick WDW OR Universal......duh...:lmao:
Love BC CL! But where's Anna Maria?

Our youngest DD (7) is interested in all things French. (She's been practicing and we have been working on learning) After viewing pictures and reading online she would like to visit Quebec City next Christmas. We live here in Florida and know that it would be a very cold and different experience for us. Just trying to plan for winter type clothing for our 4 days there. Thanks for your help!!!!!!!
We haven't been to Quebec but you're right, it's really cold in winter. Too cold for this west coast girl!! You will need warm winter coats & sweaters! Gloves. Toque?

Janet your Disney gifts sound so fun! We can't wait for our next trip (in 3wks)and pick out our 2014 ornament!

Heather hi there!! It's 34 here too!

happy New Years to everyone! We just got home from Whistler, so now trying to catch up!!.

Missdid you say you're going to be in WDW soon?

Melissa hope to catch at least a coffee with you, on University! We will touch base when I arrive and know what plans my cousin has for me, lol.

Pas - Your 11 degrees definitely trumps my 35;) Nice to be getting paid for phone time :thumbsup2 How many changes have you made today?? :rolleyes1
No changes...work kept me SO busy yesterday..I guess I jinxed myself as I typed :rotfl:

My DH loves being stuck at home like that. Then again, it could be because it means he's stuck at home with his computer and can just play Star Wars as much as he wants.
DH goes stir crazy :rotfl:

My travel agent suggested a girls' weekend...hmmm...DH gets a 4 day trip to Vegas with the guys and I get a 4 day trip to WDW?
Totally fair to me! Can I be one of the girls??

Love BC CL! But where's Anna Maria?
Gulf coast, it south of Clearwater Beach...kinda by Siesta Key (right Melissa?) Approx. 2 hrs from WDW is what the gentleman from the Inn said :goodvibes

I agree the "value" for the offerings really isn't there. But..the extra VIP service, the extra space of having a lounge...and the convenience of grab and go (especially those Summer days when you need a break from the rain) that's the value for us. And I don't mind paying more for that.

WL CL IMO has the best CL CMs second if not tied with GF. We really felt like part of the family there...and that cobbler is YUM!!!

When I can finally convince the DH to go, I want to see as much of Canada as I can.

happy New Years to everyone! We just got home from Whistler, so now trying to catch up!!.

Happy New Years to you as well. I'm glad y'all made it home safely and hope it was a wonderful trip.

How many of you are going? How many days of tickets are you getting? PH or not? Just curious. :-)

3 adults, and one about 2-3-ish little girl. I think the tickets are 4 day with park hopper. I'm not sure though. The two other ladies are military wives and we are getting the room and tickets through a military deal.
