Congrats on finishing grad school!!!! :cool1:

Thanks! I feel like I actually have a life again;)

How exciting for WL CL! I know you love FW as well. Sounds like a great trip!
You've done WL CL, right? And yes, I'm a sucker for a cabin and a golf cart. I'm telling ya, it's a great place to do nothing - just relax with the kids, swim, etc.- a great pre-trip resort :thumbsup2

Hope your team won!!!

They did win -University of Central Florida. DH is an Orlando boy - born and raised, so I have to watch ;)

I am going back to work today for the 1st time since December 20th. It has been a nice break, but now I have to go back and we are getting slammed with snow....:rolleyes2

No school today, so DH is home with the kids, and I need to go brave the elements....

Enjoy your day back! I'm right there with ya next Monday. We've been watching the news and see all that snow! Holy cow!!!! I wouldn't know what to do

By the way.....love your ticker!!! The GF is awesome - hope you keep it (no changes :teeth:)

VWL will be undergoing a hard goods rehab starting this month, (I posted photos last month). I didn't get exact dates, but was told the rehab is slated to begin this month and will probably be completed in March. Here are additional details from AllEars and DVCNews:

Looks better! We considered the villas, but they looked so dated. Going to be a nice change I would l think.

Hows that TR coming along?.....popcorn::

Anyone know the January outdoor movie schedule? I can only find the December schedule so far. Thanks! :thumbsup2

CJK, I'm not sure when the site that this thread links to will be updated, but this is the site I've been checking. They posted that the new schedules will be up later today: http://www.*********************.com/activity-outdoormovie.php

Edited...oh shoot, the site name is blocked. It's 'build a better mouse trip' . com / activity-outdoormovie.php (no spaces).

No problem! We leave tomorrow, and I am anxiously awaiting the schedule for WL and Ft. Wilderness, so I can see if the evening we have set aside for an outdoor movie is showing something my DD would enjoy. If not, time for a last-minute shuffling of plans! :)

We will be arriving on January 26 and staying through Feb 2. Deluxe Room Club Level!!!

Snow day here today and extra crispy outside, (though DD's school is still out for Christmas break until Monday). Great day to stay inside and finally catch-up on multi-quoting for 3 threads and my post-vacation to-do list. I'm about 8 pages behind here so bear with me while I respond in small batches.

It's probably obvious, but our Christmas at WL/WDW was truly magical and just about perfect. I can't recommend WL/VWL enough at Christmastime. It will make you feel the spirit of the holidays and a stroll next door to FW will absolutely make you feel like you must be at the North Pole. The decorations are truly amazing and the spirit of Christmas is everywhere.

I have a TR to start and many new photos. I'll post the link here when it's done. In the meantime, if you have any questions, feel free to post.

Hi everyone I am really excited to say that my family has a trip planned for 2014 and will be staying at VWL. We will be there from 5/26-6/1 staying in a studio. We have stayed in the Lodge a couple of times (WL is one of our favorite resorts) but this will be our first stay in the villas and we cannot be more excited about it. We have been wanting to stay at VWL for a while now, but there never seemed to be any availability for our dates....we all can't wait for May to come :goodvibes.
I'll add you to the Log and welcome! The rehab should be done before you arrive so you will have an extra fresh villa.

WOW!! That is AWESOME!!! pixiedust: :cheer2: And very well-deserved, I might add. Enjoy your vacation, and Merry Christmas!
It was awesome and Happy New Year to you and yours!

Awesome!!!! You deserve it!!!! I love CL. Can't wait to hear your reports.
We love the OFC, too. Happy New Year!

Congrats on the awesome upgrade!! :cool1:
Thank you!

 SO happy for you, and Merry Christmas:santa:
Best.Christmas.Ever.

That is a fantastic upgrade. pixiedust: That is really nice not to have to move around, too.
With 3 room-only reservations, I really didn't know what to expect. This was beyond my expectations.

Well lookie that! I was just thinking about a little pixie dust!!

P.s. plz wish Randy and gang a big Merry Christmas for us!
A little? I think this was in the XXXL category:goodvibes. I did pass along your best wishes.

We arrived yesterday from London and are staying in a 1 bed villa.

It is our first time here and we love it. We went to MK last night and the boat trip was super easy!

The lodge looks beautiful my teenage children were blown away by how gorgeous it is.

All in all we are very happy travellers :cool1:
This sounds like our experience. I hope you had a safe trip home. Did you book a BB?

That's wonderful news!! Have a lovely holiday!! :dance3:pixiedust:
Thank you! And a Happy New Year to you and DH.

Awesome!!! You deserve it for the marketing you provide for WL for free on a daily basis. :thumbsup2

Did they know it was your favorite room from previous visits or just a real stroke of luck?
Thank you and yes, someone remembered that we always request the same room…the one that had the Presidential Suite upgrade ceiling leak in 2011;)

Fantastic! Enjoy, and keep the lodge in good shape for us - we'll be there next week!
I really trashed the place - cobbler everywhere - sorry. JK, I'm actually a bit of a neat freak so all is perfect for your arrival TODAY:yay:

I was going to say the same thing! (and joke that for what you do, they should pay you to stay there!)
So happy for you and your family, KOOK! Enjoy!! (and if you get the chance, could you ask around to see if anyone knows the dates for the villas refurb?)

I am enjoying all the reports and videos in between cooking and wrapping. It is so wonderful to have this place to hang out, especially when I am missing the WL.
Thanks again to KOOK and all the wonderful people here who take the time to respond and help others. You have the Christmas spirit all year!!:santa::love:
Hope you saw the VWL rehab update I posted yesterday and thank you so much for your kind comments.
In a few weeks we will finally be at the lodge. Can't wait!!!
:yay:

Congratulations on the upgrade, Kook! It's not what you book, it's where you get to stay. :) Enjoy it all and have a wonderful Christmas at WL.
In this case that's true. We couldn't apply a discount to a CL room after 12/25 so we were just thrilled to be able to stay anywhere at WL and booked Woods View. The upgrade was the best Christmas present, but the Lodge isn't just about CL, the whole is greater than the sum of its parts;)

Working from home today due to the snow so it gave me a chance to check out all the wonderful pictures! :goodvibes

KOOK - Congrats on that upgrade, what a way to make a fantastic stay even better!:wizard:

I'll have to live through everyone's trip reports until we return in late October!! :surfweb: CAN'T WAIT :yay:

Finally booked! February 3rd-7 for our 2 year anniversary
Congratulations and I'll add you to the Log.

We had our very own Old Faithful Club mini breakfast this morning

Christmas Blessings!!!
I forgot to mention that I loved your Hidden Mickey on a plate:thumbsup2

5 more days (cause really, today is over lol)
I can't wait.

Hope everyone had a fantastic Christmas!!!
I hope you and your family are having a wonderful visit.

Congratulations!! How wonderful that you've had a BUCKET of pixie dust sprinkled over you. You deserve every fabulous moment.

Haven't been to the boards in a few months due to moving and now knee surgery.
DH & I will be at WL CL (both for the first time!), 2/2-2/10. So close!!

Kook, what is your favorite CL room and why? We'll be over the top thrilled just to be there, but if there's a view that's also over the top, where would it be?
Happy Holidays!!!!:hippie:
Welcome back to the thread and I hope your knee is feeling better. Yes, it was a very big bucket of pixie dust :worship:

Our favorite CL room is 7127 in the South Wing. It is next to the Presidential Suite and doesn't have a connecting door or a room on one side. We love the location, but it isn't perfect for everyone. It does have a housekeeping room next to it and sometimes the carts hit the wall of the room (during the day). You can also hear the elevator whirring, but we prefer it over hearing other people.

In the North Wing, the mirror image room is 7035. These are the only two non-suite CL rooms that have a view facing straight out towards the courtyard, geyser and Bay Lake, similar to a Bear Face room, but off to the side. This is the view from 7127:

In 72 hours, we will be there, eating a late dinner and contemplating making the trek over to the MK to add a day to our tickets and get in a few hours there since it'll be open until 1 AM. Can't wait!!!!!
:dance3:
:cheer2:
:hourglass

Congrats on the awesome upgrade.....what a great Christmas present :santa:. Hope you're having a great time :wizard:.
It's one present I would NEVER return;)

We booked a trip to WL at the last minute. I made the reservation on Thursday, customized the MB's right away, and they shipped yesterday. We will be there Jan 23 - 27, just about 26 days from now. Those annual passes make it just too easy to go back to WDW for another visit. :goodvibes
How exciting! I'll add you to the Log and I know just what you mean about those APs - the more you go, the cheaper your tickets get;)

Hi all! We are working on choosing our resort for our July stay - we are Poly lovers but are looking elsewhere this summer. We are torn between the VWL (1 bedroom) and the WL CL - are either/both of these included in historical releases of discounts? We love all that we have seen online of the WL so we are excited to stay there... just can't decide what type of accommodation to reserve! Any advice or tips?

Thanks so much!
Welcome and yes, both are included. I've booked both at various times with different discounts.

Unless you just have to have a kitchen, washer/dryer or a whirlpool tub, I would book CL. The extra amenities, service and lounge are a real treat to have on your vacation. It's so nice having beverages, snacks and help from the concierges just steps from your room. You'll also know exactly what floor you'll be staying on and I think both the CL lounge and room views are beautiful. The lounge seating area is also like an extension of your room in that you can hang out there and watch TV, look out to the lobby below or out to the WL courtyard and Bay Lake. CL at WL is a great enhancement and the staff are very helpful, warm and welcoming.

Here is what I posted on the March thread when someone asked for suggestions:

It is hard to schedule the fp+'s. We were there in the first week of December and ended up using only a few of the original fp+ reservations. Test Track and TSMM were two of the ones that we made sure not to miss. Most of the time we decided not to go to the parks I had scheduled or not to go on the rides I had reserved. In fact, we didn't go on too many rides at all on that trip. We had the best time, though, maybe because it was Christmas and there was plenty to do there without worrying about the rides.

Here was/is my strategy:

1. reserve fp+'s for the most crowded rides, the ones they call the e-ticket rides, near the times you have an ADR

2. since most rides are walk-ons first thing in the morning, I made all my fp+'s for late afternoon and evening. When we used a fp+ in the evening, the fp line was empty. The fp return lines tend to be very long in the mornings because so many people schedule them for mornings.

3. I used the crowd calendars to get an idea of which parks to do that day, then scheduled the fp+ for that park

4. It is very easy to change times and attractions while you are in the park for most of the rides, except the e-ticket ones. Try not to miss your fp+ reservation for those few rides, because it will be hard to reschedule them. Most of the other rides are easy to reschedule. We were able to reschedule a fp+ for Buzz Lightyear and walk on the ride five minutes later, bypassing a 25 minute standby line.

Other things I learned:

1. if a ride that you had a fp+ for goes down, you can get in the fp return line for another ride, just tell the CM that your original ride is down. We had a fp+ for BMRR which was down when we went to it. We were able to ride Haunted Mansion and still reschedule the BMRR for another ride.

2. If you miss a fp+ reservation you can reschedule it for later that day. You don't lose your chance to have three fp+ reservations in a day. They do expire the next day, though, so you have to use them that day.

3. If you decide to cancel your fp+'s at one park in order to go to another park at the last minute, while riding the bus in, or something like that, you might have to wait until you are in the park before you can schedule new ones. We cancelled our HS fp+'s while riding the boat to MK. The app wouldn't let me make fp+'s for MK until after I had gotten into the park.

If the app doesn't seem to want to do what you want, like schedule a fp+, just shut it down, wait awhile, then go back in. Sometimes databases need to reset or record the data. I saved myself a lot of time and worry by just closing down the program for a short time rather than trying to fight with it. My MB suddenly refused to work on a purchase and to open our resort room. I just waited a few hours and then it magically started to work again. :)

Both of these room types have been included in the historical discounts. There is quite a difference between the villas and club level. I haven't stayed in either the WL villa or a club level room but I have stayed in a one BR villa at the BC so I am familiar with a villa.

Villa:
You will get a master bedroom with a king bed, a bathroom with an oversize whirlpool bath, a walk in closet, a glassed in shower, and two sets of sinks, one in the section of the bathroom that has the tub and a second sink in the section with the shower and toilet. You will also have a full kitchen and washer/dryer. The living room has a sofa bed and there is a table and chairs for dining. There will be two TV's. I think there will be two balconies, too, in most of the villas, one for the master and one for the living room. Most of the villas have a view of the woods.

Club level:
I believe it is a standard room size with either two queens or a queen and bunk beds. The rooms all have enclosed balconies, unless you get a deluxe room. The biggest benefit to club level is the lounge.

So you would just have to decide which type of vacation you prefer. :)
Great information.

I honestly see no way you could regret it!! :goodvibes
:thumbsup2

Well, it's the Big Online Checkin Debate!!!!

I have never done it at our BC stays, I did do it at our Poly stay this past July, and now I am wondering if I should or should not do it at our WL stay???
Go ahead and do it because it won't impact any requests you've already added to your reservation. Just make sure any requests are already in your reservation. You'll be able to input credit card info. which will save you from doing that at check-in. That's really the only advantage to doing OCI and it makes your trip seem closer.

This Port Orleans French Quarter gal just booked her Dec 2014 trip for Wilderness Lodge - courtyard view. I am so excited to do a holiday trip and wanted to be closer to the MK during this time. Hoping to get some great tips from this thread and soooo looking forward to staying there. I am have been thinking about it for a few years and finally made the step! :cloud9:
Welcome POFQ Gal! You are going to love your CV room!!! Just make sure to request a WL or INNER CV.

4 more sleeps!! Getting the clothes rounded up for packing...

Here's hoping the WL is ready for us!!:cool1:
Hope you're having a great vacation!

Only OKW has full sized washer and dryer. All the others have stackables, so not full sized. In a one bedroom, there is sometimes no balcony off the bedroom, just the living room. The sleeper sofa in the living room is queen sized.

The one bedroom is worth it for the king sized bed alone.
:thumbsup2

We are leaving in about 4 hours, driving g for 6 and then spend the night in a hotel right outside Orlando only to wake up, drive 20 minutes to arrive at the happiest place on earth!!!

I have planned, counted days like crazy, planned more and its FINALLY here

:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:
You're there! It's here! YIPPEE!!!

I hear you!

We drive down to Port Canaveral on Wednesday and we just started packing. We need to pack for the 1-night at Port Canaveral, 3 nights on the cruise and 7 nights at WDW. I'm playing luggage tetris.

Plus packing for a winter trip is hard! I need to bring stuff for 78 degrees and for 48 degrees. Not fun.
Are you packed yet?

Ok... so thanks to all of your help and information on this board I think we are set to book WL CL in July for 8 nights!!!!!!!!! This will be our first stay at the WL! Super excited!!
Let us know when it's official and I can add you to our Lodgers' Log.

KOOK- I was considering CA Grill as one of our splurge dinners, so I am looking forward to your review. I want to be very careful about where we spend money on food- we will be a party of 5 this trip! With the new policy, I am going to "plan" more QS than TS anyhow, but I definitely want a few nice sit-downs and we have wonderful memories of eating there and watching the fireworks. Hope your trip has been very magical!!
I'm sorry to report that we've removed CA Grill from our must-do list. We used to visit every trip, but since their recent rehab, it was very disappointing. I'll go into more detail in my TR, but basically, the service was horrible and amateurish and the menu is meh. It seems they are only selling a view and wine now and no longer fine dining and service. But, if you want the view and/or TONS of wine options, it's still the place to go.

If I wanted to request deluxe room on 6th floor, is there a certain room number that would have a good courtyard view?
The only Deluxe room on the 6th floor with a CV is #6123. It is directly below the Presidential Suite in the South Wing.

Just booked our first WL stay, March 17th-22nd. We booked a Courtyard View at a great price with our military discount. Thank you for all of the great info in this thread!
Congratulations and I'll add you to the Log. Isn't the 40% off WONDERFUL?!

FP+ selections made and online check in complete! Yay! I can't believe it will be only 61 short days until our first stay at the VWL. Decided on "near elevator" and "higher floor" for room preference as part of online checkin. Thanks to all the great info here! Super excited!!!

Sent from my iPad using DISBoards
Just a reminder that OCI is very limiting for room location requests and some choices may not even be relevant to your specific booked category. Make sure that if you have any other requests, that you call to have them added to your reservation. Both called-in and OCI requests will appear for the Room Assignor to see.

Happy New Year to you too KOOK :wizard:. Glad you had a great trip. Can't wait to read your TR :goodvibes.
Hope you can be patient...

Yessssss, can't wait to hear all about your trip. I'm sure it was absolutely dreadful and won't make me want to stay at WL CL again, at all. ;)
I should probably not talk up the OFC as much so that it'll remain our little secret:ssst:

Sooooo happy your Christmas wishes were as magical as you hoped.
Maybe next year..... Just maybe.... :scratchin .pixiedust:
Are you scheming, umm, planning?:hyper:

Can't wait to read your TR, Kook!

We leave in 48 hours and I STILL haven't packed a thing. ::faints:: As soon as this rose parade is off, I'm on it!
I bet you've not only packed by now, but unpacked, too. Can't wait to hear about your stay.

Thanks for the welcome and the info, appreciate it very much!
You're welcome and anytime:)

Happy New Year!! :cool1:

Can't believe we will be at WDW and the WL THIS MONTH!!!! :woohoo:
:yay:

Happy New Year!! Nice photo.

So glad we got to see it in person this year :goodvibes
I can't believe we missed each other by an hour or two:sad2:

I'll be there the 18-26!
YIPPEE!!!

Happy New Year to all! Time to make my way over to this thread since our trip is set in stone (I think;)) Beautiful picture Candance (Mousemommy)! It's even better in person, isn't it?! Thanks Kook for the info on the bike/running path. Going to rent bikes while at FW - or at least DS and I will. Not sure my younger ones could make it that far - FW to WL). Did you mention a TR is in your near future???? Want to read all about your club level escapades, for sure.

Heather:goodvibes
You THINK the trip is set in stone? Or is it more like it's set in chalk? Where else are you contemplating staying so I can talk you out of it:teeth:

Well, so it is! Not sure how I missed that. Nice picture Kook :teeth:

My dates are June 3-14. We leave on Tuesday, June 3rd and head to FW cabins - one of my favorite places to do nothing :thumbsup2. Hubby is coming down on Friday. Then on the 7th we venture over to the WL. Looking forward to trying out their CL and the "new" rooms. When we were there last, the bedding was that dark green and kind of dated.

Now back to the UCF game ;)
Do nothing? You? Not possible. There is so much to do at FW. Have you guys gone horseback riding or done the archery experience yet? There's an hour right there!!

We will be arriving on January 26 and staying through Feb 2. Deluxe Room Club Level!!!
Welcome to the DIS and the WL/VWL thread. What a fantastic room and I'll add you to our Lodgers' Log.

Happy Snow Day and October will be here before you know it. Everyone here will help make the time go by faster:hourglass

We are booked at WL October 4-12! Kind of an early birthday present for DH (October 21)! DS will be 8 - last WDW trip (stayed at the GF) he was 3. Needless to say, he is excited :yay: Our TA put in our request for 6th floor Otter pond view room. Was that a good choice? Counting the many, many days until our trip.....

Welcome to the thread and the DIS! I'll add you to the Log. Looks like you're booked in a Woods View room and the North Wing (Otter Pond area) is a popular request. Some request the 5th floor because some of the 6th floor rooms have solid balcony railings that you have to be standing to see over. All of the 7th floor (CL) rooms are like this and we don't mind, but your DS may be frustrated if he's not tall enough and has to kneel in a chair in order to look over the balcony.

Your DS will have lots to see and do at WL and next door at FW, too. Happy planning!

Well Kook, you've been quite busy today replying to all the WL peeps:thumbsup2

You THINK the trip is set in stone? Or is it more like it's set in chalk? Where else are you contemplating staying so I can talk you out of it:teeth:

No more contemplating....set in stone. After visiting the Poly again last week, it briefly crossed my mind to make a change. However....it quickly passed when I remembered the construction that would be taking place. Hubby also reminded me ever so gently that he's footing the bill and the WL it shall be :teeth: So that discussion is over ::yes::

Do nothing? You? Not possible. There is so much to do at FW. Have you guys gone horseback riding or done the archery experience yet? There's an hour right there!!

"Nothing" is such a subjective word ;) Totally thought about the archery...however DS6 and a bow don't always work well around our house; windows get shattered which in turn makes dad a very unhappy camper. Thinking about the Segway tour (if it's still offered). Someone told me they stopped doing the Segway at EP.

Welcome back to the thread and I hope your knee is feeling better. Yes, it was a very big bucket of pixie dust :worship:

Hope you saw the VWL rehab update I posted yesterday and thank you so much for your kind comments.

:yay:

Yes, I saw it and was very happy and relieved! Thank you so much for finding out. I really did not want to even consider changing resorts!
Looking forward to your TR and photos. Sorry the CA Grill was such a disappointment. I have read other not so great reviews since the renovation and was hesitant to include it anyhow. I think we will give Artist Point a try. The only time we have been there before was for a character breakfast. Kind of wish they still had that.
Welcome back, and like I have said before, your attention to everyone here is amazing!!

We checked in late last night...I love it! We have Woods View room #2110, which is literally just a few steps off the lobby, near the Mercantile. This is perfect for us since we have a stroller. More later!

That is near the room we had on our last trip. It was a great location. :thumbsup2

I hope you get some warm weather. :goodvibes
