Just checking in. Had a rough day at Epcot today ... rainy and chilly and feeling sick doesn't make for a great day. But we got in what Lily loves: Nemo, Crush and the Characters. Then had a so-so dinner with Chip and Dale at the Garden Grill. Food was just okay. Definitely not worth the money.

The best meal we've had this trip was at the Tusker House for a late lunch. The character interaction was super and the food wonderful. It was more like an early dinner for us all ... we ate way too much!

Jeanne's two best friends from PA (Bobby and Eric) are here too and they joined us at Epcot and Animal Kingdom and will be with us tomorrow at Hollywood Studios too. It sure comes in handy having someone help with the stroller and all the "stuff" you have to take with a toddler and the rain gear (umbrellas, ponchos).

It was just Jeanne and I with Lily at Magic Kingdom on our first day and although we managed all day, it was sure nice to have those extra hands these other days.

Today Lily fell asleep during dinner and the men just picked her up and carried her the mile to the stroller parking outside in the rain. The other one carried all the "bags" (diapers, umbrellas, etc.). Jeanne and I felt like Princesses!

Tomorrow it's suppose to rain again all day. Jeanne and Lily saw the sun once pretty much the whole time they were here. And I checked the weather and it is warmer in Vegas. Sun is forecasted to come out Friday (they leave in the afternoon) but only a high of 57. Bob and I will have our winter coats, scarfs, hats and gloves on to take them to the airport.

Despite the lousy weather and us all being sick (except Bob of course), it has been a super holiday with them. We've been looking at the good stuff ... like how empty Epcot was today because of the rain ... same with Animal Kingdom yesterday ...compared to normal crowds on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day. I know what it would have been like had it been sunny.

We figure tomorrow will be a breeze at Hollywood Studios because it is suppose to rain all day long ... even some thunderstorms. Gotta look at the good!!!

Thanks Dee for posting the pics of Princess Lily's Christmas Vacation!!!

Hi all! We are looking to book BC for this July. We are torn between a 1 bedroom villa or CL. Any help? We saw that there may be construction happening on the concierge floor? Help! We want to try out BC but aren't sure which way to do it!!!

Happy New Year everyone!

I went to see Saving Mr. Banks with a pack of the girlfriends tonight. I thought it was a great movie. The only thing folks have to keep in mind is that it's a movie about PL Travers and Walt Disney is just a character in it. My friends are all teachers so it looks like those Mary Poppins books are going to be making a come back in their classrooms for optional reading books! LOL

I did wear my Glow with the Show ears to the theater but the rest of the gang chickened out and left their ears at home. At least everybody could find me in the theater and the ticket taker knew just which theater to direct me to...

:welcome: to the thread!!!

I'll add you to the Be Our Guest list for July, and you can let us know when you decide about your accommodations.

What is the approximate price difference?

I have never stayed at a Disney villa, so I don't have any experience I can share with you about that, but you certainly would have more space in the 1BR than a CL room, and you would have a balcony. Not all rooms at the BC have full balconies, I think the percentage at club level is about 75% plus. In room w/d is a plus, having the kitchen is a plus if you think you will be preparing some meals.

From what I have read, the BC club level lounge and possibly some rooms will be undergoing refurb during the timeframe of your trip. I wouldn't let that scare me off, though. The lounge offerings will be provided in the Presidential Suite and I would love the opportunity to be able to check that out! I believe that Disney will do everything in their power to minimize disruptions to guests staying at the BC during the renovations.

We are an EMH rope drop family, and I love being able to grab a decent breakfast in the lounge, then head out to the parks. I know it would take more time for us to get going in the mornings if we had to prepare and then clean up after breakfast.

If you enjoy a glass of wine or beer in the afternoon, or a night cap, you will have access to that staying club level.

Those are a few of my thoughts.

Anyone else want to weigh in with some opinions???

We had breakfast at Tusker with our grandchildren last February and had great food and really good character interaction. We would definitely eat there again. :thumbsup2

A club level experience is very different than staying in a villa. The BCV's are close to Epcot and the buses, so they are very convenient to stay in. You get a balcony with the living room and some master bedrooms have a balcony, too. The master has a king bed and there is a sleeper sofa in the living room. There is a lot more space in a villa than a BC resort room. As far as I know the club level rooms are essentially the same as a regular resort room, except that they are on the fifth floor. You just have to decide what kind of experience you prefer. We've never stayed club level, but have stayed in a BC villa three times. I would pick the villa over the club level room any day because I love having the extra space, the whirlpool tub, king bed, a real coffee pot, and a kitchen for making some breakfast. Other people prefer the amenities that come with club level. Either way you go will be fine because the BC is a great place to stay. :)

We saw "Saving Mr. Banks" yesterday, too. We thought it was really good. P.L. Travers came off as very human and believable. I was annoyed by the Southern accent they gave Walt Disney, though, since he was born in Chicago and grew up in Missouri and moved back to Chicago for high school. But other than that, it was fine. ;)

I did wear my Glow with the Show ears to the theater but the rest of the gang chickened out and left their ears at home. At least everybody could find me in the theater and the ticket taker knew just which theater to direct me to...

I bet there were a lot of people who wished they had glow with the show ears, too. ::yes:: ;)

August 16-23rd 2 rooms for our family of 7 BC SV CL to celebrate my 40th :goodvibes

Hope you don't mind having me back! And Happy New Year to all!!:beach:

Good morning, and Happy New Year to my BC/YC family,

I know that this is off-topic, but I'm sure Dee won't mind.

About 10 days ago, I posted asking for prayers/thoughts for our cat Henry, who was having what the vets called a "diabetic crisis," and I'm so grateful for the love, prayers, thoughts and pixie dust you sent. I felt it, Tom (jnpants) felt it, and I know Henry felt it. Unfortunately, this was a battle we were not destined to win, and we had to say goodbye to our Henry on Friday. I won't bore or depress you with all the medical details, but basically, it happened so fast, I can barely get it straight. We went from, "Henry looks a little weak...maybe we should take him to the vet.." on 12/19...to him being diagnosed with diabetes on the 20th, rushed to the emergency vet on the 22nd, where we were told he was having a diabetic crisis, or essentially was in a diabetic shock. The vets were concerned about his situation, but confident they could regulate his insulin and then hand him over to us for his care. He rallied and improved slowly right up through Christmas Day, but on the 26th, we got a call that he was slipping backwards, and come to find out....and you won't believe this...he had a tumor sitting on his adrenal gland, which was secreting a hormone that was actively counteracting the insulin we were pumping into him. So in essence, the tumor drove him into diabetic shock, and then deflected any treatment needed to get him out of it. It is very, very rare, and it left us no choice but to say goodbye peacefully before he was in any pain. At that point, luckily, the vet assured us that he merely felt as if he had a low-grade fever- uncomfortable, but not in pain.

Again, our hearts are broken. He was a member of the family, and it happened so quick, I'm having trouble processing it. He was also only 8, which for an indoor cat, I only consider middle-aged at best. Due to the snowstorm, I am home alone today and tomorrow, and I already can't tell you how quiet the house is. We have another cat...his sister from the same litter, but we're quickly realizing how quiet she is, and that Henry "said" a lot by his mere presence. We are still blessed to have Grace remaining, and she has no idea of the love about to come her way. If there's any silver lining, she is the lower-maintenence, more independent of the two, so people ask how she is, and I really think she's fine. I'm sure she knows her dads are sad, and realizes that "the big one" hasn't been here for a week or so, but I firmly believe she'll be ok.

This has been off-topic, but this thread really is like a family, and I thought those of you who were thinking of Henry would want to know. I also posted a humorous pic of him for NinjaMom, all sprawled out on our bed a few months back, and I wanted to do him more justice and post a really handsome pic of him. It's one of my favorites, and actually pretty recent. It's probably from Sept. or Oct. of 2013.

I'm planning to become a lot more active on here to get my mind off of things, and think that later today or tomorrow, I'm going to start up a PTR for our 8/14 trip. I'd like for once to do a really good, complete PTR and TR.

Thanks again...I'll leave you with Henry. :flower3:

Scott, sending you all {{{{{hugs}}}}}. So very sorry for the loss of your beautiful fur baby Henry. They really are part of our families and it is heart breaking to have to let them go. I'll save a real hug for you if we get to meet in the happy place in August xx

Good morning, and Happy New Year to my BC/YC family,

I know that this is off-topic, but I'm sure Dee won't mind.

Scott and Tom- I don't mind at all. I can't emphasize enough that in addition to being a resource for information about the Yacht and Beach Club resorts, this is also a place for friendship, caring and sharing.

We can do both here.

I am so sorry for the loss of your beloved pet. My thoughts are with you.

Thanks for posting the picture. He was a handsome cat!

The difference in price is only about $50 for the 8 nights! That's why we are so torn! We are doing our third CL stay at Poly in a few weeks and LOVE CL amenities... but the space and w/d would be nice... and a separate bedroom! Just so torn!!!

Thank you for all of this information! We just can't decide the best way to do it - We can't wait to get to know the BC property and amenities! It looks GORGEOUS!!! DD3 is going to love the pool areas... just what kind of room we want... can't decide!!!

Hey guys and gals! Its been a long time since I have posted here. We hope to be back later this year, it not next year.

If anyone is hesitant on going to the Yacht Club, get on board! We had such a blast in October 2012.

Hi :)

I have room pictures from Beach Club Villas 1 Bedroom - Room 548, Our visit was June 2013.

I thought it might be helpful to some planning a stay at BCV.

View from Balcony during the day, mainly trees and the top of a few buildings.

We could hear the music and see some of IllumiNations high fireworks at night standing on the balcony.

I hope it was ok to post here. I thought there was a room thread but I couldn't find it.

Thank you and I hope this helps someone in their planning.

We had a wonderful time and really enjoyed our stay at the BCV. The room was clean and comfortable. There were a few things in need of repairs but nothing major, just a lose door handle on the bathroom and a few other minor things. Nothing seemed worn out, we thought it was in very good shape considering the turnover at BCV.

Great photos!!! Thank you so much for posting these pictures!!!

I do have a room (view) thread for BC and YC but nothing for BCV.

I would love to put a link to this extremely helpful post on one of the BCV sections on the first page of this thread.

Thanks, again!
