Renting DVC and magic bands

We are booked at CBR room only and already ordered our Magic bands. Now a family member who is DVC offered to let us rent points. If we rent DVC, will our magic bands still work as room keys at DVC? If so, are there certain DVC that have magic bands vs ones that don't? Will the ressie be seen in my MDE? Never gone DVC so not sure.
Thanks!

I am a DVC member and used the Magic Bands in October. No matter what resort you stay at the bands work the same way. DVC resorts are just like a regular resort. When you check in, bring your bands and they will be used as your room key. Be sure to get the confirmation number for the new DVC room and update it in your My Disney Experience too! If you need help, you can always call Disney directly.

We are renting DVC points in March and have already customized our MB. As long as you link the ressie on your MDE account they should work just fine :) As I understand it, the band just links to your account, not a specific reservation

Yes. MBs are linked to your MDE account, not a specific resort. If your DVC reservation is linked to your MDE account, the MBs will work. We used the same set of MBs for our early December split stay - they opened our BLT room and then our BWV room. They also held our annual pass & FP+ info and we used them for charging things back to the room.

All the WDW DVC resorts are using the Magic Bands.

Yes. Once the DVC reservation is in your name and you have the DVC reservation number, you can link it to your MDE account just as you would for the CBR reservation.

As PP mentioned. In regards to MDE and Magicbands...DVC is the same as a standard room reservation. We just rented points and stayed on property and all of our reservations were on MDE and our bands worked exactly the same.

You are getting a MUCH better resort staying at DVC. Once we rented points (usually pay $11/point, so I wouldn't pay more for family), we never looked back!

Some rooms/resorts fill up very quickly certain times of year, so I would book as soon as you can. I am not sure how many are in your party. We like to stay in 2br, with family, but our family of 4 (2 kids, 2 adults) fits nicely in a studio as well. BLT is our favorite overall resort (stayed in 2br in Dec). We also like Kidani, especially if you are driving (parking is soooo convenient), pools are great too. We stayed in a traditional room at Beach Club this trip too, and the pool (SAB) is a huge plus for us, along with being able to walk to Yacht/Boardwalk/Swan/Dolphin for dining and also Epcot was great. I never set foot in one of those rooms, but if I couldn't get BLT, I would probably book there for SAB.

GO for it!

Sorry if this question was already answered, and I'm just being dense, but....

My husband and I are planning a split stay trip to the world July 5-8, and 9-13 (we're spending the night of the 8th in Port Charlotte visiting family).

Anyhow, I was researching renting DVC for our stay, and it looks like a great way for us to stay at Deluxe resorts and save some money at the same time.

We've only stayed on Disney property once, and bought a package deal when we booked (so tickets were already included).

With DVC, since it's a room only reservation, how do we purchase our tickets in advance so that we still get the magicbands and the ability to FP+ 60 days in advance?

Thanks!

You can buy tickets anywhere you want. Most use a third party authorized reseller to get a small discount on the tickets. You could try Undercover Tourist, Maple Leaf Tickets, AAA or other. You could also buy direct from Disney.

i agree with vicki. i've typically ordered from mapleleaftickets and many on the board use undercovertourist. it's a great way to save a few extra bucks while still buying from an authorized vendor.

We just rented some points for an October stay. I think this is a great thing! Stay at a Deluxe and pay less then a moderate! So excited! :goodvibes

Not long after I got our confirmation number the res popped up in MDE. So all good there.

Was planning on buying tickets from undercovertourist but will check out mapleleaftickets now. You'll be able to link them to your MDE account with the code on the back of them when you get them, I believe.

So far I'm very happy with the oppurtunity to rent points!

Just to update:
We ended up renting DVC points from a family member and are booked at AKV (split stay Pop since we ended up adding a couple of days and not enough points). Linked the reservation number to my MDE no problem. Prompted for Magic Bands and we have customized them; presume they will be shipped out 30 days prior to check in. We have also linked tickets that we bought through DH's work to the MDE site (note--these were discounted and came directly from Disney). We are less than 60 days out and have made our FP+ selections, no issues. So far we are good to go. Keeping our fingers crossed that everything works smoothly onsite.
