Happy New Year all! I know it's only the 1st, but how soon into a new month does the WL activities calendar/movie schedule come out and get posted? We've got a little over 3 weeks, so no hurry of course...but I'm sure you all know how any bit of added anticipation is great so we can't wait to see what will be happening during our WL stay later this month!

Has anyone rented bikes and done the ride from the WL to Ft. Wilderness? We're going during Spring Break with Dr. Jekyll in tow, and with the new limitations for the fastpasses we'll be spending less time in the parks. I need ideas for fun things to do during the day. Is the bike/jogging path flat the whole way?

Has anyone rented bikes and done the ride from the WL to Ft. Wilderness? We're going during Spring Break with Dr. Jekyll in tow, and with the new limitations for the fastpasses we'll be spending less time in the parks. I need ideas for fun things to do during the day. Is the bike/jogging path flat the whole way?

We rented bikes on Sunday and it was lots of fun! The CM was very kind and only charged us for a half hour and also applied our AP discount which is 30% off all recreation, so the final cost for 3 bikes was under $10.

We love riding and running over to FW. It was especially nice to see all the festive decorations. Our route is the concrete trail (which is flat) that runs from the bike rental/marina, past VWL, across the service road and over to the ponies near Pioneer Hall. Once you get to the ponies, the trail is wood chips for a very short time until you meet up with the sidewalk next to the bus stop. The sidewalk ends shortly and you'll have to cross over the road to the other side where it continues. The path goes past the Meadows Pool and loops around to the right and back to the ponies. We did this twice and on our third time we crossed over to the other side of the road instead of looping around to the right. There is a nice sidewalk that takes you to the front of the resort and the stables where they offer horseback riding. We rode back from the stables to the ponies and back down the path to WL and the marina. This took about 45 minutes non-stop.

Did you mention a TR is in your near future???? Want to read all about your club level escapades, for sure.

School starts again Monday but at least grad school is over FOREVER. Now I have more time to peruse the Boards.

My dates are June 3-14. We leave on Tuesday, June 3rd and head to FW cabins - one of my favorite places to do nothing . Hubby is coming down on Friday. Then on the 7th we venture over to the WL. Looking forward to trying out their CL and the "new" rooms. When we were there last, the bedding was that dark green and kind of dated.

Now back to the UCF game

I am going back to work today for the 1st time since December 20th. It has been a nice break, but now I have to go back and we are getting slammed with snow....

No school today, so DH is home with the kids, and I need to go brave the elements....

VWL will be undergoing a hard goods rehab starting this month, (I posted photos last month). I didn't get exact dates, but was told the rehab is slated to begin this month and will probably be completed in March. Here are additional details from AllEars and DVCNews:

During a scheduled hard goods refurbishment in 2014, Deluxe Studio rooms at the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge will be modified to sleep up to five guests. DVC reps could not confirm the exact makeup of the "fifth sleeper" option, but space limitations suggest a Murphy Bed similar to the Grand Floridian. In recent years, Disney Vacation Club has added twin-size sleeper chairs to many One and Two Bedroom villas. This particular addition is not planned for the Wilderness Lodge. After completion of the refurbishment, plans currently call for Deluxe Studio villas to sleep five guests while larger One Bedroom villas will only sleep four. "Hard goods refurbishment" is the term Disney uses to describe its most comprehensive room renovations. Nearly all aspects of the room are replaced or refinished including furniture, fixtures, appliances, linens, flooring, wallcoverings and more. The refurbishment of the Villas at Disney's Wilderness Lodge will commence in 2014, although an exact start date has not yet been provided.

It is hard getting back into the swing of things after being out of work a while. Hope your days goes by quickly.

Keep safe with the snow. We have dense fog today and going to work at 6am was not fun. Be safe.
