While December 25th was significant to many people for its religious importance, it was significant to us for another reason. It marked four weeks until we're back home :cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1::cool1:

Hi all! Just wanted to say that we just returned from our first stay at BWV and absolutely loved it!!! Checked in last Friday around 10:30a and received a text by noon saying our room was ready. I had requested a high floor close to elevator and lobby and was given room 4050. I could not have been more happier with the location!! So very close to everything. We had an amazing view of Luna park pool with tower of terror in the back ground. I could have stayed on the balcony for hours enjoying the view. Buses were good. We only shared with swan and dolphin. Except coming back from DTD we also stopped at YC and BC. Being able to walk to Epcot and DHS was such a great perk! Loved it! We will definitely be staying here again in the future.

Glad you enjoyed it so much! We had "just" the three bus shares on our last trip, and if was definitely better than the five, but I still think BWI/BWV are big enough to not share at all. Sounds like you had a great room as well!

Awesome! Sounds like you're totally ready for it! :woohoo:

With the winter shaping up the way it is, darn straight. Just hoping Orlando stays warm for us. We're also doing something special this trip, the Wild Africa Trek at AK, which I'm totally looking forward to.

We had a great time on the Wild Africa Trek. Very interesting and loads of fun.

Happy New Year's Eve to All!

We will be arriving at BWV on January 18, 2014. Does anyone know when the January activities calendar will be released for BWV?

Hi everyone, I'm new to this thread.

We are staying at OKW for two weeks in August but my husband just surprised me by booking two nights at The Boardwalk Inn for our 5th wedding anniversary. We will be staying with my MIL for the rest of the trip so the privacy will be nice!

We will be staying August 17th and 18th. It will be amazing to be there five years to the day that we were in the lobby waiting to get married.

Happy New Year everyone! Congrats to the people staying in 2014 for the first time. It will be very tough to wait until December to be there!

Some fireworks for the new year!

(Of course there you can see this any night! :thumbsup2)

84 days and counting for me!! Can't wait! We have really moved up in the world.. third visit for us. First was offsite at an absolutely horrible motel. 2nd was at AOA, and Now a split between BWI and CR. It's going to be FANTASTIC!!:cool1:

Thinking about switching from our beloved Poly to BWI- we have reservations at both! Any former Poly lovers or BWI fans who understand my struggle?? My biggest concern is QS options and the smaller room size. I visited BWI for the first time in November and loved it! We were there at night so I got to see the street performers and enjoy being on the boardwalk. But I didn't really get the feel of what it would be like to actually stay there!

yhe quick service options are a bit of a dilemma at the deluxe resorts. no food courts like at the values and moderates. but AKL has Mara. anyway as far as the 2 you mention: check out the menus at allearsnet.
there is the boardwalk pizza window, and a placeon the boardwalk you can get wings or corn dogs. or I think hot dogs. you can get some sandwiches at the new refurbed boardwalk bakery. and some choices at the beach club. hurricane hannahs has great burgers!!! you can't enter the stormalong bay, but hurricane hannahs you can. problem is there is no where to sit and eat them. you could sit at a bench onthe promenade. beaches and cream has the same burgers for a little more, and now they are taking reservations, so not so much a quick service.
but I wasn't that thrilled with the quick service at poly anyway (actually never stayed there, just visited)
if you are not limited with park tickets, the boardwalk is walking distance to epcot, and there is the fish and chips in the UK, and the refreshment port nearby.
you really should check out the menus, like I said.
how many nights are you going for?could you possibly do a split stay? concentrate the MK, AK parks while at poly and the Epcot, DHS days while at BW?

Welcome and enjoy. Those are two terrific resorts.

We will be using the four day military ticket so we are pretty limited with park access. We'll be staying 7 nights though so we can have down days at the resort. Is there anywhere good to sit and eat around the bakery?

HAPPY NEW YEAR!

I have a lot of post-vacation catching-up to do, Photobucket uploading, TR writing…We had a wonderful stay at WL and the Old Faithful Club and we hope to book next Christmas soon. I'm also going to be modifying our current June spit-stay to include BWI! I have more BWI photos that I took Sunday that I will post soon. I wish all of you, posters and lurkers alike, a very happy and healthy 2014.

The QS options were limited at BoardWalk but the Boardwalk Bakery had good sandwiches there for QS options. The location is awesome though. A 10 minute, easy walk to DHS and then less than that to walk over to EPCOT. Plus the atmosphere. We'll definitely be going back tot he BW again.

Yes, I completely understand! BWI and Poly are two of our family's favorite resorts. So our solution for longer stays is to start at Poly for a couple nights and then transfer to BWI. We were originally booked at Poly for the Princess Half Marathon weekend and then changed our reservation to BWI CL based on all the uncertainty of Poly construction. Next year, depending on Poly construction, we'll either stay at BWI or do a Poly/BWI split again.

Of course, Poly and BWI are quite different. Overall, I prefer BWI for a number of reasons. We love Epcot and we have dinner ADRs in or around Epcot every night. It's so easy to get to/fro dinner at the end of a busy day when staying at BWI - just can't beat strolling back to our room. We also love the ability to walk or boat to DHS. I love CL at BWI, love a room with a boardwalk view (my favorite in all of WDW so far!) and like the room decor.

So the ability to walk/boat to Epcot and DHS are key factors for us. And the bus to MK is fine. In principle, I do enjoy the quick monorail ride from Poly to MK in the morning and the boat on the way back to the resort. Although in recent years, we've found that monorail resorts are not always the most convenient for us. For example, one morning while staying at CR, we took the monorail instead of walking "for fun." Monorail was not working properly and the trip took 45 minutes - not kidding - causing us to miss rope drop. Last year, when staying at Poly, it took us 1.5 hours to get back to our room from MK at the end of the night. And that was during value season. It was just mobbed - monorail lines were huge and the boats were just as bad. We watched numerous Epcot area resort buses pull up, load and depart. My husband was lamenting the fact that we had not yet transferred to BWI! These are just a couple examples of several issues we've had with monorail service that prompt us to choose Epcot resorts more frequently.

As for counter service, we solve our breakfast issues by staying CL, which we really enjoy. And we usually have ADRs for lunch and dinner. But when we need CS, Boardwalk Bakery is really convenient, or if we have a few minutes, we hop into World Showcase and get sandwiches from Les Halles. One of the things we like about BWI is that is doesn't have a food court or crowded CS location. I love Poly, and Captain Cook's is high on the list of resort CS, but it's still crowded and I definitely prefer a quick stop at Boardwalk Bakery or the short walk over to France.

What's the best way to make room requests for BWI? We're arriving Sunday the 12th, standard room. I'd like to have a King bed.
