Beach Club Reservation Help!

I have a question regarding my beach club ressie for May 13 thru the 20th. Currently I have a standard room booked with the bounce back offer but I can save $500 if I can rent DVC points. My question is if it's available to rent during that time is it the same thing? I remember reading somewhere that the rooms are older and a bit run down. Does anyone know if there is any truth to this? Also, is the location a lot further than standard rooms? This is my dd's 21st birthday so I don't want to cut corners too much!

You'll get two queen sized beds and you can request a day bed in the standard Beach Club room. If you are looking to get a studio at BCV, then that will have a queen bed and a sleeper sofa. The BCV studio is not as nice as a room at the BC. The BCV's building is closer to the buses than the BC resort, about the same distance to Epcot, and further from the boat dock. The BCV studio will have a balcony while not all of the BC rooms have full balconies. BCV was built after the BC, so the rooms aren't older, but they aren't refurbished as frequently as a BC room.

I can tell you that as of right now, a studio is not available for those dates anyway.

We stayed BCV's thru rented DVC points during the 2nd week of Dec. The savings was great - no way we could have afforded to be able to stay there if we didn't rent the points and just booked on the resort side. And, it worked out great! Second time renting points, last year we did AK. DVC is a great way to stay deluxe without paying huge prices! The biggest drawback, which really never came up for us, was not being able to cancel if we needed to and get a refund. Everything worked perfectly, basically the same way any resort ressie would work. Except for having the owner being the liaison, having to make the ressie on my behalf, as well as set up DDP for me last year, making any requests we needed, and setting up our ME for us. It all just went so smoothly both times. And the BCV's really aren't that far from the main building or the marketplace, or even the restaurants and SAB, just one more building over. And the parks were easy to get to, the building is out front and fairly close to the buses, and the back way to Epcot works great! DHS isn't bad either and only a tiny bit farther from the villa's than the resort.

The studio room is small, but don't think it's much, if any, smaller than a resort side studio room. Our room was nice enough, though it's been a while since it was refurbed(coming soon, though, I think). But we definitely didn't think of it as run down at all. And, really, with the savings, we thought we got a great deal! Little extra money to spend elsewhere, than on just the room! I liked not worrying about what kind of balcony we would get as all villas come with full balcony, also. Not a huge room, but certainly big enough. We were on a trip celebrating my DD23's grad from college last May, so wanted it to be great and it was! I would definitely recommend renting DVC points to stay in a studio at BCV's if it's possible to get one! :thumbsup2

Thanks everyone. It was as I thought not too much difference but a bit weathered so to say. I will have to rent next time because I suspect you are right and there will be no availability that close to May now. I've done a bit of research and you can potentially save quite a bit renting points and stay deluxe for a mod price!!

A studio is never better than a standard hotel room. A one bedroom villa is. But a one bedroom usually requires about double the points.

The hotel room will have two real beds, plus maybe a day bed. The studio will have one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa and only a microwave oven as other the difference.

Since DVC resorts are owned by members and their member fees pay for any renovations, they don't get renovated on the same schedule as Disney hotels because Disney can just pass the cost on to the guests. DVC is limited to funds available in their account from member fees.

There is a microwave and frig in the DVC studio. Is it the same in Disney hotel room.

Never may not be valid here.

The hotel room does not have a microwave and the hotel room does have a refrigerator. But the beds are better in the hotel room. So the studio is never better than the hotel room at BC/BCV.

The room might not be better, but paying less than $200/night is WAY better than paying over $350-400!

Exactly! And though the room may not be better, it's really not that much below the non dvc rooms at the resort. The sleeper sofa may not be a real bed, but my DD23 has used them twice now and said they were very comfortable. Now, it is just myself and my DD23, so the studio room, though maybe a bit small, is big enough considering that we could never stay the 7-9 nights in our yearly trip in a deluxe resort with just a room discount! Even the mod prices are getting high these days! This past trip at BCV, I paid just over 1400 for 8 nights, and 115 for one extra night at OKW. The year before we paid 1260 for 8 nights at a studio at AKV. I like those prices for staying at a deluxe resort A LOT!! And planning to do it again in Dec this year! ::yes::

And, OP, you could always keep your eye out for something for May - that's still five months away and you never know what may pop up! I keep the dvc resort rent/trade page here on the Dis open in a tab when I'm checking to see if anything is popping up. Even if you book a non dvc room, you've still got a little bit of time to keep your options open if you want to, before you can't cancel your booking. :goodvibes
