(CLOSED)>> The One And Only Refillable Mug FAQ and Questions Thread (No Debate) <<

We used them last month on a 7 day trip to AKL. We loved it. Several coffees and several sodas (and an occassional hot chocolate!) each day made it well worth the cost. Places are easy to find to refill them and all the machines worked well. The only issue we came across is you can't refill too quickly. I chugged down a soda once and then went to refill to take back to my room and I had to wait a minute.

I have now tried to find people's opinions of the mugs like I wanted on here and it is very hard to do so since it is a thread stretching almost 4 years.

You really should allow someone to start a new thread with a specific and quick question so they don't have to hopelessly search for days.

Oh and my family reused mugs from year to year for YEARS :p

Why should they have to start a new thread? Just ask the question here and someone who knows will answer it. When there's an FAQ thread about a particular topic, the people who know the most about that topic tend to hang out there. Plus, with it being a sticky, it stays at the top of the resorts board so it's easy to find.

We ran into a couple of little glitches with the RapidFill system, but nothing major. I thought overall it actually worked really well. I noticed that some people were slowing down the process waiting for an OK before filling, which isn't needed or given, but I'm sure as people get used to it we'll see less of that. And although I expected the time between fills to be an issue, I realized that at this point it won't be for me... my 2min chug refills always seem to be iced tea, not soda, and the tea machine isn't on the system yet (and might not ever be - I doubt it is as attractive as soda to mug-reusers).

The one thing that bugged me about it is that the values close down half the refill stations about an hour before the food court closes for the evening, something we were well aware of from past trips. But because the new system takes longer per fill and limits how many people can use the machine at one time, it seemed like there was always a backup waiting for refills in that last hour. A couple of times I opted for tea rather than wait in line for the soda machine.

I just wish they'd change up the mug design already. I could use the pool scene mugs for Christmas dinner, I have so many of them now!

I used the new mugs at YC in August. Didn't have a problem with it. I bought mine, we were there 2 weeks, and def worth it. The only problem I had was all the wasps around the outside refill station by Hurricane Hanna's. Ugh :scared:

Got a mug with Free Dining in Oct.

Had no problem with it (other than the little window was blank half the time but the refill did just what it was supposed to do.)

I did however notice that if you had ice in your cup you would fill up before you reached the end of your 'digital' fill.

So fill, drink quickly and then fill again. You get a little bit of time.

I only used mine twice (don't drink a lot of soda and I hate tea), but really seemed easy enough to use.

Did you happen to see the thread about the mugs changing in January? According to the original poster this is per a food court manager at Pop Century. As I said in that thread I'll believe it when I see it. Has anyone else been told by a food court manager that the mugs are changing next month?

Here's the link to the thread, http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=3209498.

I agree I will believe it when I see it. We are going in february. So I hope there is a new design.

I saw it. I posted that I was not planning on buying another as it's not worth it for me (mostly drink water) but I might consider buying a one day mug if it was something super awesome...but I'm not holding my breath as we know from previous years they won't put them out until they have sold everything from the prior years anyway.

If anything I'd think there would be different colors before there were different mug designs.

I'm sorry if this has already been covered - I went back a few pages with no luck. Am coming in Jan. and doing a split stay - 3 days at Cornado and then 5 at Wilderness lodge. Will we need to get two sets of mugs, now with RFID?

You should be able to use one mug at both resorts. Just buy a long enough stay. You'd need nine days with an eight night stay.

We are doing a split stay and thinking about adding dining plan for the first night. Can we pay to upgrade mugs to the length of stay for the second resort?
thanks.

My question is very similar. (I've also posted this on another thread that I found concerning the mugs.) We will stay on property the first night, and then will move to the Swan/Dolphin for a few nights. We're then going on a 4 nite Disney cruise. Afterwards, we're back on property for 4 nights. If we purchase the DDP for the first night, we'll be receiving the mugs. How long will these mugs be good for? Will we be able to use them at our resort the last 5 days? Will they be good that long from the one night DDP? OR will we have to pay extra to have them work that long? IF so, then how much?

I'm hoping someone will be able to answer this. I've tried to search thru this thread, but haven't had any luck for this specific question concerning the new RFID mugs.

Thank you.

Question if anyone knows...went to WDW and got the refillable mugs on our 10 day trip in December with the RDIF chip. I am going back in March. Can I bring my old cup and pay a reduced price to get it activated for this trip? Or do I have to buy a new cup? I am a diet coke fiend, so the cup is ALWAYS a good deal for me.

From what I've heard reported, yes, you can bring your mug back and get it activated for another trip. No, it won't be at a reduced rate. :( So you might as well buy a new cup, unless you really don't want another one in the cabinet.

You can bring an old rfid mug back but you will pay full price to have it activated.

I would have thought that Disney being into recycling would offer a reduced rate if you brought the old mug back but they don't. :(

I decided on my last two stays to just buy my Pepsi and keep it in the room instead. I reached my limit on what I was willing to do for my drinks.
