FASTPASS Thread

It remains to be seen. FP availability could be affected because people who would pull a FP with the intention of using it past return window, may not pull it now. Yes, it is still the same number of FPs available for the day but it could expand the time that FPs are available. Rides may expend their FPs at a later time in the day than they are experiencing now.

And if this hold to be true, it is a benefit to the park goer who arrives later in the day and still have FPs available when in the past, it would not be the case.

Either way, its too early to tell the effect of the enforcement. Especially given the varying reports we have heard from people returning from the parks post enforcement

That is precisely what I was thinking, and why I asked. I'll be interested in hearing how it plays out over the next 6 months or so.

I know that for us, pullinf fastpasses and using them later was a big part of how we toured. So at least when we are there, there may be a few more available. I would most likely not draw a fastpass now for some attractions. Also, I wish they would put up more signs like in epcot telling you the wait times and the current return time. I would hate to walk all the way to soarin (this is just a random example) to see a return time of when we wont be there. So yes I think it will have a small impact on fastpasses. Although I do wonder what percentage of the people were like us and used fastpasses way past their times.

Just reading up on this fastpass+ business.

Here's hoping that the advanced scheduling isn't ever required. While I like to plan my meals and what park I'm going to what day, planning everything on a hourly basis kinda takes the fun and spontaneity out of Walt Disney World.

Hey everyone. I spent a long time compiling information from various sources (some friends from Disney and websites) and wrote a summary of what FASTPASS+ or xPASS is supposed to be like. This is all hear-say, so nothing is set in stone, but check it out. Please note my blog is still under construction, but bookmark it, for I think it will soon have some very valuable Disney informations.

Check it out and comment on what you think. Seriously folks, comment! Thanks for all your views!

F.Y.I.: I found a lot of contradicting information to what I read on Jim Hill Media.

Are the return windows still only 1 hour long? I had heard a rumor that they had had expanded them to 2 hour to allow for a little flexibility since they were no longer going to accept them late.
At Disneyland Paris the Fastpass return time window has always been 30 minutes long.

Just want to confirm that at the centralized fastpass at animal kingdom, the cm's are posting the return times manually. Do any of the other parks have a centralized fastpass?
Also, I noticed that the last comment on this "disunplugged"

that they talked about getting 3 passes at once at the centralized fastpass...is this possible?

The DAK Centralized FP test was conducted in Summer of the year 2009.

And it was generally considered a disaster...

You weren't supposed to get more than one FP at a time, but apparently there were technical issues, and CMs were often just handing them out, using the override to print them.

There were NO posted return times at all. You had to ask someone who just got one.

Out of curiosity, I want to know about, How many "FastPass" are distributed per day per game?.

The information is not public, and varies from attraction to attraction and potentially day by day based on a number of factors.

Does anyone know if the new Dumbo ride will be included as part of FP ?

Nobody knows.

Since it already has a completely unique totally brand new "virtual queue,"
it would seem less likely for it to also have a conventional FP.

HOWEVER-

Since Disney has hinted-at (through early tests) that many attractions that do not now have
(or ever need) a FP may START having FP's under the (again) hinted-at NextGen/Xpass/PastPass+ "system,"
it's possible that a Dumbo FP may be an option.

I know of no plans to use Fastpass as Dumbo. However, there are plans to use a next generation "queueless" system similar to what was tested a few times at RNRC, where you are giving a group letter/number, and a free to wander around an area waiting for your group to be called. The end version may be different though.

We've already seen how that new Dumbo queue operates.

(Is it not fully operational yet?)

It uses restaurant style flashing/talking pagers to alert guests when it's their party's time to board.
While they wait, they can play provided games and similar past-times in the covered and air conditioned
"tent" waiting area. No standing in line.

I heard they were going to implement something soon, but missed the details (things have been quite...crazy...here lately).

Once Fastpass+ is completely rolled out, will you still be limited to only three selections?
