Have you checked to see if Kentucky has a "K12" Public Online School?
They are Free. :teacher:

In Tennessee they only had it K thru Grade 8...so I personally haven't worked with them.

DS17 did an online HS which we had to pay for...but he's graduating a year early.

What happened?

Thanks. Nothing against homeschooling, and we were going to do DD, but DS's teacher is going back home to Central America and she was the best teacher at the school. Even so she left something to be desired. When DS brought his books home ($200 at the start of the year) they had never even unwrapped the penmanship book and he had about 200 pages in math they didn't cover. The only book they came close to finishing was spelling. It will be a challenge for SWMBO doing 2 different ages. I can help with the math and science and am glad to get to spend more time with them because we never know how much time we do get, but it is just one more change and thing added into an already overloaded schedule.

Sadly, in KY, there is no law on the requirements for homeschooling. Thus, a parent with a 2nd grade education could "sign" to homeschool their child. With that said, I'm sure you'll do a great job. As for time, i know it will be extra, but you can use that time whenever you want. So, it does give more flexibility. One thing i liked about my wife when we were dating was her independence. With that, she in no way wanted to be a SAHM. I know i don't have the patience or ability to focus long enough to teach them. We would be singing WDW songs or doing field trips all the time.

I have a bunch of friends who homeschool...I know one of the things that proves helpful for them is being a part of some type of homeschool consortium. That way if they don't understand geometry but are a whiz at making history come alive, they can help out someone else with the opposite strengths and weaknesses. Plus it's a great source of materials, as other families students move out of one subject and into another.

I home school my sons. Yes, I am the dad. In South Carolina we do have k12 I am dropping their program. It is a virtual private school but is still considered public school. They have lots of rules and classes scheduled for their convenience.

K12 is available in all states, but you have to pay out of pocket.

Now to rant. Ehh, I'm pretty happy. Spend all day with my boys, working in garden, etc. :laundy: No rant today.

Nothing rant worthy since last May? Life is pretty good, but time for a minor rant. SWMBO has a birthday next week and my parents shipped her a box to my office. Just got the tracking number and supposedly it was delivered yesterday at 5:00 PM and left at the front door. Kiss that box goodbye. :headache:

They meant well.

They meant well.

They did, just not sure why the UPS guy would leave the box at the office door after hours unless he is a new guy. :confused3 The regular guy just leaves a note and tries the next day.

Over a year and nothing rant worthy? :worship: The birthday box from last year did show up at the station directors house. He just didn't feel it was worth telling me about for a few days.

Today is a new rant :offtopic: If you put a crease in the front of the car over the tire on the passenger side while backing out, please notice it and tell me! When I see it a couple of days later and ask about it, telling me you didn't even notice doing it does not instill great confidence in me that you are aware of much going on.:sad2: :headache:

The car is 11 years old so no point in putting in for the insurance claim. Hopefully I can find someone around that can pull it out and clean it up so it looks reasonable.

Oh, well, at least I have a car that can have a dent put in it. I could not have a car and need one even with a dent in it.

Getting my own personal rant thread but at least it keeps me off the streets.

The local yokels decided to burn down a house that had been vacant for a number of years which is really the only upside of this as it was a health hazard and an eyesore. Unfortunately doing so has displace a bunch of feral cats that are now roaming the neighborhood looking for homes. I could gather them up and take them to the shelter that covers this part of the state but they stand a better chance in the neighborhood of someone adopting them, or fighting their way into one of the barns for a place to call "home". With the cold weather setting in we are due to have a few dogs dropped off as well. Happens every year. :sad2:

I'm still here. With all the different forums, not much traffic here.

That stinks. I inherited the minivan after DW hit a few parking posts in it. Now, that nightmare has ended and I inherited the Pontiac Aztek with slipping transmission. At least it is a vehicle.

You could get out the shotgun and do some target shooting.

Decided I am just going to try to buff out the paint and not worry about the dent on the car. Usually the attempt to improve problem results in a bigger problem when I do it.

Not allowed any weapons when you are in the ivory tower and even though I'm not a cat person, I couldn't shoot dumb animal unless I was hungry.

Health insurance...:furious::badpc::furious::mic::furious: and this is before the government gets involved!

The unaffordable care act? We didn't have any changes. What was it?

Not yet. That pain is still to come. :headache: This was disallowed labwork for SWMBO back in July that I am still dealing with and she has another appt Friday AM. :headache::headache:

Funny thing with that. Several years ago, DW had a x-ray done as ordered by dr. It was the second to last week in December. That year, work changed insurance companies. The x-ray people did not bill the insurance promptly, and when they finally did, insurance didn't pay for past procedure since we were no longer members. X-ray people turned us over to collections. But, since we still had copies of insurance cards, they could not collect. Some type of law then that I'm sure has been overturned by ACA. We don't want the poor billionaire insurance company executives to have to only go with five vacation homes.

Good luck with that fight.

Peanut Butter Beverly Rubber Ducky Michael Bolton and those Peanut Butter Beverly Rubber Ducky Honda Commercials.:crazy2:

Booked a beach vacation over New Years to surprise the family for Christmas, and as the dates got closer, it became clear the weather probably wasn't going to be beach friendly. Just as a backup, booked our 2nd favorite beach some 200 miles further South. When the time came to go, both places were predicted to be even colder than it looked a couple weeks back. We scrapped the whole deal and decided to stay home.
