YES, touring Cinderella’s Dream Suite was Amazing!+14 Other Magical Days* Dismeet & Wrap

Hi Brenda, I've been trying to catch up on your trip but I'm still behind.
I have to say I'm loving it so far, though. It's great that you get to spend this time with your daughter.
You stayed at two resorts that I would  to stay at. And I'd love to stay club level at AKL and do the safari. Someday hopefully!

It looks like you had a great time in the animation building - we always end up spending a lot of time there. We don't much care what our drawings look like - we always have so much fun, and usually end up doing the class several times during a trip... I think you could manage to come out of there with something nice. :)

Looking forward to the rest of your trip! :)

D~

Brenda, looks like I have a lot of catching up to do, but that is going to have to wait until I get back from WDW. Standing in line now outside of the MK waiting to get in for our breakfast at the CP. By the way Monsieur Paul was awesome and Philippe said hi. I will be certain to tell you about it. :)

Last night I finally caught up on this thread (I still haven't caught up on your "Not so Live dining report"). And now I realize you either left today or are leaving tomorrow for your first Christmas time experience at WDW - beautiful wishes to both you and Em and all the DIS friends you plan to meet up with!

Since we had never experienced the original Test Track we enjoyed the new version when we rode it last month. We did let our grandson design our vehicle in the design center which he thoroughly "ate up" so we weren't at all surprised when our design ranked the poorest compared to others riding at the same time. I'm looking forward to repeating TT with DH in Feb. and will leave it to him (with his engineering degree) to design the car; I'm sure he'll provide some competition to others since he knows a bit more about aerodynamics than a 3rd grader, IMHO. BTW, our Magic Bands worked just fine in the design process. I expect they had added the instructions on how to use them there since your August trip.

If you do make it over to AKL to see their beautiful tree etc. and dine at Boma for dinner I expect that you'll like dinner just fine but not enjoy the infamous Zebra Domes that 95% of the people go crazy for. Unlike you, I do love chocolate, but like you, I dislike coffee intensely. I took one bite of a Zebra Dome our first time there and that was more than enough for me. At least i managed to behave like a lady and not spit it out.

Have a safe, healthy & magical trip!

Our last trip was the first time we hit up the animation building and there is so much fun stuff in there. The drawing classes really make it easy - definitely people in our group that have little/no artistic ability and even for them you could tell what the picture was supposed to be. Though I didn't see any erasers so you might find that tough to deal with.

Another good idea I saw someone do was to take their drawing and go to the corresponding meet and greet and have the character sign the drawing of themselves.

Hope you have safe travels and have a great trip full of amazing adventures!

I didn't comment on your last post and I couldn't remember why - and then it dawned on me. I read it right after you posted, but thought there was a second part coming and didn't want to be one of "those people" who posts right in the middle of an update. Horrors! :rotfl2:

I love doing the Animation Attraction. I can NEVER get Denny to do it with me. One time he ditched me right at the door so I drew a character for him and for me. That was tough. :rotfl:

Emily looks like she is totally in her element. I can tell she loves to draw.

Have a totally awesome trip. Tomorrow? This is your first trip during Christmas? You are going to LOVE it. Plus there are SO many DISers there now. I know I just got back, but boy would I love to be there again. I'm eyeing up 2015 for Christmas. I miss it!

Great character pics, especially with Mickey!
I love the animation building and everything in there, especially the drawing class. You should try it!
Have a fantastic trip!! I can't wait to hear all about it!

I'm squeezing in a few replies before I head into work for my LAST DAY before we leave. I'll be back later to finish responses and post another update before this goes on a short hiatus.

Em's coloring skills are fantastic! ;) I want to try the drawing class - I am thinking Zoey and I may run off one day and try it.... The which character are you most like is fun.... We spent a while playing on them waiting for the M&Gs to open up.

Ahh pressed pennies! Probably better spent than the 15 dollar dingle hopper ;)

So many have commented to try the animation class (they are probably the people that got As in Art class) that it just may guilt me into doing so. I just won't take a photo of my drawing! :lmao:

Hmmmm if Em saved up the money from 30 pressed pennies that would be a dinglehopper!

Been off the dis for a few days so nice to come back and have lots of updates. :)

I think that is so cool that you know your waited Ricardo and that he leaves gifts for you and makes sure he is working when you are there. Love that you gave him the Beatles gift. Pictures of you with him were very cute.

You and Em looked so nice all dressed up for dinner.

Okay I read that review from your horrible dinner at Brown Derby. Crazy that so many awful things could happen in one meal. I mean I could see having a bad waiter or finding a bone in your food or not liking your drinks or the food not being good or the rat (shudder) but to have ALL of that happen to you in one meal is just awful!!! I don't know if I could ever go back after an experience like that.

Love the little duckling nibbling on your toe. He is so cute!!

That HM merch is really cool. We always have a Halloween Party and I may have to buy some of that stuff to display during our party (if it is still available when we go next month)

Cute pics with Mr Incredible, FroZone and Mickey. I love Em's very beautiful Snow White picture.

We are going to try out the Animation Class this visit. I can't draw either but it looks fun so I figured it would be cool to try it.

Anyway exciting times that you are leaving in a few days for Disney. Hope you have a wonderful time and look forward to reading all about it eventually. :)

I'm glad you had a lot to read to catch up on. :) Why thank you for reading!

Ricardo is a sweetie and we look forward to seeing him every time! And thanks for noticing that we got cleaned up for dinner and put our on best $14.99 Forever 21 clothes. ;)

Oh that HBD dinner was a classic horror story. I would go back because we have had more good experiences than that. I just wouldn't want that server again.

Em has always drawn things from the time she was itty bitty and would draw her version of princesses. So seeing her color the Snow White was a bit nostalgic!

Thanks for the well wishes for our trip. I'm pretty excited. :cheer2:

I'm on the same page as you with artistic skills but others have told me that the animation class makes even the worst of us create a nice picture. One of these days, I'll test that out. My DD was most like the queen of hearts last year and we still call her that because it's always HER way!

Love Em's Snow White. I never noticed a kids table in there before.

On a side note, I went to see Frozen today with my sister. It was a great story! We may even go see it again with our mom when we get back from vacation. In my humble opinion, the casting was just perfect as well. I really should have been home packing for the trip, but seeing the movie was much more fun! Wishing you safe travels and hope that we bump into each other!!

Thanks for encouraging that. Perhaps there is a hidden artistic side in me that hasn't been developed yet. I admire the Animator CMs... I'd be too impatient to teach ME.

That's too funny about your DD - wanting it her way. Don't we all?

Maybe that kid table is a newer addition since I can't recall seeing it several years ago.

I wish you safe travels and enjoy WDW and say hi if you see us along the way!! I do look forward to hearing about it and comparing notes. I think I said that the last day or so of our trip will be at MK so that narrows it down. Take care!

Awww that's adorable with Em colouring while you wait in the line. Seriously, that is precious!!! :cutie:

There is so much I need to explore in that Animation Building. Other than some character visits, I've done nothing. I also hope to try the drawing class. I know I've mentioned it before, but I need to draw somebody that does meets so I can pose with him/her WITH my masterpiece. Now I need to do "You're a Character" because I MUST know.

I hope that Snow White picture is indeed on your fridge. ::yes::

Mr. Birthday Boy!!! Hope you are enjoying your day at AK today!

Thanks it is pretty precious! A picture for mommy is appreciated even when she's almost 18.

That would be so cool to pose with a character that does M&G. You are on to something. They need a little coloring table next to Mickey for kids to draw pictures and then pose and give them to him. He can have a big fridge with magnets and the kids can stick them there!

I'm sure you'd be most like Terk! I had that one time and I was like huh?? Ok, at least it was someone nice. (I do like to be the evil people though.)

I'll see you soon!!

I will get to the rest of my replies tonight and post one last update... stay tuned. Didn't want anyone to think that I'm ignoring them or abandoning this here.

Because my work is at a crazy time with some regulatory changes coming 1/1/14 I have been swamped. Working until midnight yesterday (at home so not as bad) isn't my idea of fun so it has severely limited my DisBoarding and my being social here. So that's my sad story but the bright side is that I'm going to ditch work for 7 days and go to WDW!!!!

Have a great day everyone!

Brenda, hope you have another great trip!! Can't wait what stories will come from this one :goodvibes And will you be visiting France again to score another free glass of champagne? ;) Seriously, I need another picture of Philipe. :lmao:

Coloring! I would have been doing that too if I was waiting. I love to color.

I'm always a sassy character, because I make random comments the whole time. :lmao:

Awwww, everyone has some artistic ability. That's what my art teacher in college used to say. That it could be learned. I wanted to be an Animator so bad. Used to draw every day and actually submitted artwork to Disney before. But I've actually never done the animation class in Disney. :confused3

Aww Em looks so cute sitting there colouring and she's pretty good at it too :goodvibes

Thanks! She's my little artist!

Thanks Dave! We'll see if Philippe is there when we dine at Chefs de France. I'm not expecting any wild tales. Other than those crazy Disers that we are meeting up with!

Coloring! I would have been doing that too if I was waiting. I love to color.

Dani I could totally picture you as a sassy character more in the scope of Tink or something. Adorable yet looking for trouble! (In a good way.)

Wow! You would do well in the class since you are a bona fide artist!!! I'm still waiting for the artist within to blossom. ;) Your teacher just may be wrong just once. :rotfl2:

I said I would do one more update and gosh darn it even if I only get 4 hours sleep before we leave I'm updating!!!

Wed. August 21, 2013: Day 6, Part 4

It was at this point in the day that I felt fully justified in moseying over to the Writer’s Stop for one of those legendary carrot cake cookies. Plus it kept us in the a/c and out of trouble. It was un-crowded in the little shop so it was no problem getting a small bistro table to relax and enjoy browsing the books. Added bonus was the wonderful smell of coffee!!

Must. Have. One.

This one's mine!

While noshing on my cookie Em browsed the books and bring me editions that she thought I would enjoy such as the biographies for Lucille Ball, Audrey Hepburn, and John Ritter’s story as written by his widow. (Amy Yasbeck was a brilliant writer. I loved her witty yet tragic humor.) Em found an Aunt Bee Mayberry cookbook that she purchased. She also wanted the Steve Jobs Bio but didn’t like the Disney price when it could be purchased much cheaper through Amazon.

I happened to be reading about Marty Sklar and Em saw the book in the shop

I remember that afternoon with no lines, no rides, no characters, and no crowds as one of my favorite times of the entire trip. It was so wonderfully relaxing but better still was spending time with my baby. As I wrote in my notes and recall now, sometimes it’s the simple moments of shared laughter and a few tears that create the most memorable of times.

When we finally decided to move on we intended to tour the Streets of America since we were right there; however, one look at the gray skies and we retreated to the exit. We didn’t feel like getting drenched.

We took one last photopass photo and then said good-bye to Bo.
Oh wait, we also took a photo with the Monsters Inc. University topiaries.
It didn’t start to rain until we got off the boat at the YC. It gave us plenty of time to duck inside the resort before it really started to pour.

That's all for the next 10 days since we leave in exactly 5 hours and 45 minutes. I'll be posting some photos and such on Facebook so any FB pals can have a preview of what is to come. :)

Thanks for hanging in there as this current TR slowly makes it way to day 8 where you will see that indeed the TR title truly reflects that day.

I may have missed your sendoff, but just in case you see this today

Have a fantastic, magical trip, my friend!!!

Can't wait to hear about the adventures that are awaiting you

:cool1::cheer2::woohoo:

Loved the update Brenda... Yes, I agree - some of the most quiet times off the beaten path are some of my favorite memories, as well.

So... The Aunt Bee's cookbook - has anything been made from it yet? It looks like a fun cookbook to have.

Love the photo of the two of you in front of the hat.

I hope you have a marvelous trip! I have soooo many Disfriends down there right now... Makes me really wish I could be there with you all.

D~

I love the sound of your lovely relaxing afternoon in DHS, I completely agree that those are sometimes the best moments!
I'll say it again, have an amazing trip! I can't wait to see some photos on Facebook! :D
