Which decade had the worst fashions? 80s or 90s?

The easy answer is the 80s, big and bold! But I made it thru the 90s too, and looking back they weren't exactly glamorous!

My teenage years were in the 80's and I LOVED the fashion! The 90's were the 60's and 70's mashed together :crazy2: I couldn't wait for that fad to finally go.

When I think of the 90;s i think of the grunge phase (which seems to be back sort of) but i HATED that. everyone always looked so unkempt and dirty.

Give me 80's neon and big hair ANYDAY over the grunge phase.

This isn't even a debate, the 80's.

I did all the faux pas fashions in both decades. Embarrassing pictures that pop up on Facebook every now and then (ugh.) My hair in the 80s was crunchy, permed, sprayed and high. All of the above. Just huge. That brown lipstick in the early 90s... how did we ever think that was cool? It was before colorstay lipsticks came out, so I left brown lip marks on everything. (ugh, again.)

I'm torn. On the one hand, the 80's had the giant hair, the parachute pants, and the neon. I did a google image search and these were two photos that came up:

The 90's, on the other hand, seemed to really be obsessed with denim. The overalls with the flannel shirt tied around the waist was something else. I also feel that the styles were a bit less modest, as far as women's clothing goes, as there was a lot of bare midriff and booty shorts. Then there was the whole blazer with jeans look that was something else. A google image search returned some of these gems:

Honestly, I think I'm going to go with the 80's being worse, but that is overall. I fully believe that the grunge look that many sported in the 90's was the worst look of the two decades. I may not be the best person to ask, though, because I hate many of the fashions of today. I don't understand wearing leggings as pants and really dislike the hipster looks where girls look like they are trying to look like boys. Oh, and why on earth are those terrible high-waisted pants coming back? Does anyone really desire for their rear end to look so long?

Do you have this same topic posted on Gymbo Friends? I was like, "woah, deja vu!"

Anyway, I think 80's was definitely more fun. 90's was just emo, lol! Did anyone besides me do the Cross Colours thing in the 1990's? :)

OMG has to be the 70's. Bell bottoms, platform shoes, polyester and the nasty long hair. Not even close. Must have been all the drugs!!!:woohoo:

Well Atleast it's not the 2000s yet because they just keep stealing 50-90 styles lol

Are you sure about that?

80s hands down. For the hair alone- not to mention the MC Hammer pants.

I'll never forget the time I went to the sub shop for a sandwich and the counter girl had this long fluffy hair and her bangs sticking straight up vertical. It was like a weird wall of hair on the front of her head. I just looked at the counter and held my laughing inside until my purchase was done and I was back in my car.

The sad thing is that she was probably considered very stylish by her peers for her hair's amazing, gravity-defying verticalness.

To me, the 90's had no look.....just a mish mash of BLAH!!!! At least the 80's (and 70's) had a definite look.

As someone who came of age in the late 80s and early 90s, I can definatively state it is the 80s by a MILE. They aren't even in the same discussion...though I would say as well that the 70s was the worst.

The 90's didn't have any sense of style, whereas the 70's, 80's, and even the 00's had a definable flair.

I prefer the late 50's to early 60's myself, though. The 70's were just so awesome, you KNEW where you were on the timeline!
