I enjoy watching 3d movies when its done well but hate paying for a gimmick 3d movie. Is there enough 3d in frozen to make it worth it?

Thanks!

There were only two 3d showings at our theater - I now wish we had gone to a 3d showing.

Go to one if you have a chance. Loved it!

Yes... unlike Thor 3D is worth it.

The short before the movie almost requires 3d.

The movie is gorgeous and with amazing depth in 3D. I too hate gimmicky 3D movies, but Frozen just looks beautiful in 3D. And I cannot even imagine watching the short at the beginning without seeing it in 3D.

See it in 3D, definitely!

I agree with PP. I am glad we saw it in 3D. In fact my DH said this movie may actually be a reason to get a 3D TV

1. The six minute Mickey Mouse cartoon, Get a Horse, that precedes Frozen, is itself worth the price of the 3D admission. That one may win its own academy award for best animated short film and it must be seen in 3D to be fully appreciated.

2. Frozen in 3D is great. They are a lot of scenes where most everything other than the characters is white from snow and 3D helps to create contrasts for the mountains, valleys, and one impressive ice castle in that situation.

^this. All of it.
It's definitely worth the 3D. Go see it! It's SO good.

The short at the beginning is fabulous too. They even use clips of Walt Disneys voice from the 20's. The more you know about the original cartoons and Disney history, the more you will appreciate it!

I have already preordered Frozen from amazon.com, and this is the first movie I have ever ordered the 3D combo pack. We don't have the equipment to watch 3D now, and may never, but this movie was so absolutely stunning in 3D I want to have that option available if we ever get a 3D TV and Blu Ray player.

Thanks for all the replies. Looks like we're forking over a few more bucks :)

We have a 55 inch lg tv with 3d that converts 2d to 3d. The converter works so well we never did get the 3d DVD player to use 3d disks. We love the set up but still splurge and go to the movies once and a while.

Thanks! We. Are having trouble fitting it in to our schedule this w/e and I'm not sure 3d will be here next week due to the Hobbit coming out. Guess we might go to a 7pm showing on a school night. Kids will be really surprised.

Totally agree with both points. We just got back from the 3D version and LOVED IT!! :thumbsup2

well storm let up enough that we got to g and sooo glad we saw it in 3d:cool1:

We all loved it. The disclaimer and little surprise at end of credits were a hoot! Thinking I might want to get that 3d disk player just before Super Bowl when tvs etc go on deep discount;)

Thanks again to all who responded

Let me share something in that regard, because I'm really curious about it.

We saw 'Frozen' last Friday in 2D, because that showing fit our schedules better. But the 2D version of "Get a Horse" looked like the best 3D I'd ever seen! I don't know how to describe it, but it looked like the short was showing on a screen and there was a separate stage in front of the screen where other characters were interacting.

Anyone else experience that?

It was all done with shading and shadows, of course, no "real" 3D, but it was remarkable to see. No need for glasses or anything. Even my wife, who rarely "gets" the 3D movies, could see this one.

I'm now really curious to see this short in 3D, but I want to see the 2D version again as well, to see if I get that same feeling.

We felt the Same with that short looking so 3d when we were not seeing it 3d.

Our little local theater does not show Disney movies in 3D. Something to do with Disney forcing them to do something or pay more that other 3d movies.

Cant wait for the 3d blue ray to come out
