Purchasing second contract: will I get a new membership number?

Just received word that we passed ROFR on our second resale contract at BLT. Both have the same use year. Will they just put this contract into my current account since I have the same home resort and use year?

The UY is the deciding factor; home resorts can be different. As long as you have the same UY and have titled the second contract exactly the same as the first, down to middle initials, you will see the new contract show up under your original member number.

The two contracts will be numbered something like this..

FIRST contract - 12345.000
SECOND contract - 12345.001

You will see them like that when you log into your DVC account.

Thanks, that is what I thought.

Have your broker/closing company note to Disney that this is an add-on contract. Less chance for error.

Nevermind, just found my answer. Just needed to use better search terms.

Different use years = different DVC memberships = combining points will use your 1 transfer per year.

Newbie here.... do the contracts *have* to be the same use year to combine in the same DVC account?

I understand why you might want them to be the same use year, I just wondered if it is hard requirement if you wish to have them in the same DVCaccount.

If Disney is not aware they are add-on contracts, will it be difficult to link them later?

If they are the same UY and are titled exactly the same, there s/b no problem.

Asking the broker to notify DVC isn't a necessity (and would you even know if they really did it or not) but it is another thing you can try if you want. We've done several add ons resale and have never done that and all have been handled correctly by DVC.

I can tell you that in the past there have been cases where Disney would not correct the error and members were stuck with 2 different accounts.

I can also tell your that several years ago when they were more member friendly, I contacted member accounting to make sure that they knew that our resale add-on would be under our master account. They informed me that the broker had added our middle initials to the paperwork which would have resulted in a new membership. I had to have the broker correct the docs and re-submit. Members Accounting told me that if they had completed the transaction, they would not correct the accounts later.

Things may be different now but you never know.
