The not so live version of dining w/ Disers, in Castles & on Safari! The Wrap! 2/26

I can't wait to read all about the tour! And see the pictures!!

In glad you enjoyed your Burger the way you like it!! I'm again with Em though!! I hate raw onions so the grilled (if any at all!) all the way!!

Oh wow Brenda, what a magnificent surprise
Even the awesome Plaza fries must have been overshadowed by that little piece of news :cool1:

You do seem to make friends with a lot of really nice people. ;) That must have been very exciting news to hear at lunch time. I can't wait to hear all about your tour. :)

We ate at the Plaza Restaurant on a very cold January day. The only thing I remember about the event was that the restaurant wasn't heated and every time the door opened an icy wind blew in and froze us even more.

Joining in - kind of late - but I have caught up and am ready to read more! :thumbsup2

Obviously, there is no way that my aging and tired brain can possibly comment on every review to date, but I will say that I shed a tear or two over how awesome your YSH experience was compared to ours. Totally going to try that place again. And the potato-wrapped fish at Monsieur Paul looked a lot better than the much-celebrated snapper at Flying Fish, which (for me, anyway) was dried out and tough. ;)

What an amazing lunch you had and how wonderful it must have been to be told about the tour :yay:

I love the Plaza! What a great surprise! I would give up dessert for the Dream Suite too!

The best fries, the mayor & surprising news that you get to tour the dream suite?! Omg!!! Talk about one amazing lunch! I cannot wait to hear all about it. I promise to be patient.

Wow!!! I'm not sure what else to say but wow! I assumed you and Em lucked into the castle suite during a tour, completely did see a private special favor tour coming. Almost makes me consider getting Facebook! Lol okay well you need the "friends" to go w/ hooks ups! Lol I have to admit/confess in all my trips to Dis I've never noticed or apparently considered hitting the plaza. I'm not even sure where it is! (Sad) I maybe rectifying that as I was looking for another sot down at MK and it sounds perfect for lunch. I'll leave off where I should have at the beginning: WOW!!!

Ha ha! It's all about the people you know sometimes and FB helps! :rotfl:

The Plaza is a great little restaurant that mostly has burgers, sandwiches, salads and ice cream. It is at the end of Main Street facing the castle. If you see the little round tables with yellow umbrellas on the Tomorrowland side of the plaza, that's where it is located. It is really a great place. During lunch the Mayor (or his appointee) comes in an announces a special family that has been selected to enjoy free dessert.

I can't wait to see all the pictures from your tour! That is so incredible. You had me convinced from your other DRs to try The Plaza this trip, but unfortunately I couldn't convince Rob. Hopefully next trip I will get to try those yummy looking fries!

The best fries in WDW are here in my opinion Jeri! If you need to tempt Rob with trying this place tell him that they have some really great ice-cream treats! If begging or bribing doesn't work then there's always tears. :lmao:

Stay tuned because I may just start to insert teaser updates in my TR to countdown until the actual tour.

You and Em would split a burger better than me and Em it sounds like.

Hi Linda! Sometimes even amazing fries can't compete with surprises like that. :thumbsup2

Thank you! Our friend was so nice and polite and considerate of our park plans since he said that if we had anything planned he would understand... are you kidding me. I'd cancel anything to do that tour!

Ohhhh I can imagine being near that door on a cold day. No fun. Especially if you have unwrapped yourself from your jacket and such. Brrrr... and you are from the land that freezes in winter! ;)

Hi Roni. No worries about catching up and all, I'm just glad to see you here.

I think we just got really lucky the first time we went to YSH. We know some of the other staff there so it helps to know who is our back up team. :upsidedow Ask for Ricardo if you go back to YSH. You will not be disappointed.

From what my DD told me and how it looked, the Monsieur Paul fish was excellent. Sorry that your FF experience was less than enjoyable.

So excited to read all about it!!! I wouldn't have been able to handle the excitement. :)

I'm not going to be able to post our Shula's Steakhouse update until I am back in town. I have a conference in Las Vegas and should be back on Friday.

Monday November 18, 2013:

In the meantime.... here's an intermission update that features none other than my frequent Disneyland Dis pal Paula (Smile4stamps). She is in Anaheim for a few days and we were able to get together and do what Disers that frequent the Dining Board does best - Eat.

Tonight we ate at Café Orleans. Paula treated me and Em to dinner which satisfied a craving for pomme frittes for us and a Monte Cristo for her. And me? I pigged out on half the basket of pomme frites and then tried to tell myself it was ok since I was eating a salad. :lmao:

Foooooood!

Monte Cristo with fresh fruit:

Pomme Frittes:

It's too late and I'm too lazy to tell you the actual name of the salad but it did have some goat cheese in it which makes me think of Camille (Millie12591!) Since there were only a couple small chunks I didn't bother picking it out.

Castle from afar. There is a big obstruction to the view since The View (confusing?) is filming at DL resort this week.

And some photos of us because otherwise I could be making this all up!

IMG_0287.jpg

We actually did stand all cozy and looking like we really like each other in our photo all together....but that one came out all fuzzy thank you Mr. Photopass dude for whom we were the very last people that he took a photo for the evening! :lmao:

Goodness, it's late and I need to make sure I'm awake in 6 hours to catch my flight. Buenas Noches. :)

Wow Brenda, you just know all the right people ;) The plaza looks quite good, I have never dined there as on the dining plan I never get the bang for the buck, however for out of pocket I would try it. I love the DL food pics! I can't wait to go back soon.

Is there anybody you don't know? GM Head CM, pictures with the Mayor (again...as I believe I saw this in one of your other TR's).

Food looks good...but then we've never had a bad meal there.

Fun DIS meet again at DL and the food there looks yummy too.

You are definitely the queen, not I. I will be one of your lowly princesses. :rotfl2::rotfl2:

Popping in the say that I loved the pic with the mayor and the surprise castle tourpixiedust:

Love your reports, they are awesome.

Em will never want to leave home if she keeps getting all these perks for doing Disney mommy style.......Keep up the good work!

Love the DL Dismeet! Great photos of everyone. :goodvibes The food looks fantastic. I would love to try that Monte Cristo. It looks so good! Only half the basket of pomme frites isn't bad. I think I would have needed an entire basket all to myself!

Hey, pomme frites are really good so, it's totally ok that you paired it with salad! :) I definitely want to visit this restaurant again come 2015! :)

Oh, Brenda! Thanks so much for posting a little DLR magic in here! We leave for DLR in 2 months from today to celebrate my DD's 7th birthday!!!! :woohoo:

Interestingly enough, Cafe Orleans is one of the top two places that I want us to try this time!!! So glad it measures up!!!!! :cool1:

Interestingly, I am already leaning towards a salad and pommes frites so that I can make the same logic leap that you made. :rolleyes1

That sounds like a book I would love to read! Is it out yet?

Like a good little foodie, I'm going to save comments on the tour until you post about it on your other report and just say that I think that strawberry salad looks AMAZING. I have really grown to LOVE salad and that looks divine.

Hi Lori! Agreed Plaza Restaurant isn't the best value for the dining plan but it does have the best burgers and fries at MK! ;)

Pomme frites are no lobster nachos but heck it's Disney, it's food, and it's with a Diser so it is all good.

Goodness gracious Brenda! Thanks for sharing and hope you made your flight!

Thanks! I did and I am back to say that I was a very well behaved gal in Vegas! :)

Hi Kathy! We definitely don't know Bob Iger - that would be cool!

I know you make Plaza Restaurant a tradition during your Dis travels. It's so simple and good. :)

Silly Kathy! You are still the queen!

Hi Couchy! Thanks! I hear you will be joining our December Dis team, I look forward to meeting you. :)

Em will never want to leave home if she keeps getting all these perks for doing Disney mommy style.......Keep up the good work!

Ha Ha! :rotfl2: It's all about who you know sometimes! We definitely don't deserve any of the special perks.

Love the DL Dismeet! Great photos of everyone. :goodvibes The food looks fantastic. I would love to try that Monte Cristo. It looks so good! Only half the basket of pomme frites isn't bad. I think I would have needed an entire basket all to myself!

Thanks Jeri! Their Monte Cristos are pretty tasty. Perhaps my "self control" for the pomme frites was due to being polite and not wanting Paula to rat me out as a pomme frite hog in her live dining update! :lmao:

Hey, pomme frites are really good so, it's totally ok that you paired it with salad! :) I definitely want to visit this restaurant again come 2015! :)

Don't you know it!!

My logic isn't always sound... eating 1/2 a basket of pomme frites is still crazy even if I justify it by eating a salad too! It's still a 1/2 basket of pomme frites for goodness sake!

Oh, Brenda! Thanks so much for posting a little DLR magic in here! We leave for DLR in 2 months from today to celebrate my DD's 7th birthday!!!! :woohoo:

You really make the Disney parks and cruise rounds! I'd say that Disney shareholders everywhere thank you. :rotfl2: Disney for your DD's birthday is a great way to celebrate! You'll have to do the Plaza Inn's birthday celebration event. It's cute other than the birthday song soundtrack playing about 18 times too many!

Café Orleans is one of my favorite sit down places inside Disneyland. Actually, there's only 3 or 4 inside that park so it's a great option.

Glad I could help narrow down your choices and give you sound logic. ;)

That sounds like a book I would love to read! Is it out yet?

I'm glad you asked. Yes, the book is out. You can click here for a link to read about and/or purchase the book.

I really should try that strawberry salad since everyone who has had it raves about it. I just need to split it since I can't break away from having their burger and fries.
