Movies & DREAMs 1/13 (Recent 11/18) Castaway Cay & MK

So glad Rachel seems to be feeling better the next day :)

Lion King room is adorable!!

I love the table and then the pull down bed.

All the lamps are great.

Such a pretty , fun room :thumbsup2

yes, she seemed to be fine this day and we just tried to limit her on what she was eating this day.

Lion King rooms are great! I'm hoping to try the Nemo rooms next time, but would be fine with LK. We did tour the Cars rooms last year and they just do not appeal to me -- too 1950s/60s barren.

This room was just so neat!:thumbsup2

I understand. We have been at the DLR when one or more of sick and I have felt the same way.

Today is Saturday, January 12th and we are finally going to Disney World!! After all the holidays and cold weather and sicknesses, we are soooo ready to go.

This is the 10th Autotrain trip (one way) for Rachel and me and the 8th for Jerry and Elizabeth. We definitely are liking the Autotrain!!

So we leave at our usual time around 12 noon and drive to Lorton, VA arriving around 12:45pm. However, there is a LOT of traffic and it is totally blocking Lorton Road, a main intersection to enter the station as well as to get on I-95. We have never encountered this much traffic before and my first thought is that 'something' has gone wrong. This is more than just heavy traffic, although our train is also full.

After an hour of waiting on the side of the main road, we are able to check in and inquire what happened.

Unfortunately, the northbound train from FL only arrived at 12 noon (3 hours late), Amtrak is short staffed b/c of the rampant flu going around and the Coach Lounge car broke down along the way and they were not able to fix it but had to off-load that train car before allowing any new passengers on board.

So 300+ people arrive to get off the train right as 462 people start arriving to get on the train. UGH!!

While waiting to board, we ate sandwiches in the terminal and Elie played with the other kids. Rachel slept on the floor ...hmm, what is up with that?

I give great KUDOS to Amtrak -- they did an awesome job moving everyone and everything around and we actually left on time! We went straight to the lounge car to claim a booth.

What a relaxing way to travel!! Elie and me

I mean, can you really beat this -- spread out in a booth, drink some wine or 3, play games, watch scenery.

Oh, and did you check out my lovely nails?! Yes, I got them painted a fire engine red (or hot sexy red as Jerry calls them!). I did a gel nail this time which was supposed to last about 2-3 weeks. We'll see...

This is the part of the trip that is so fun!! I mean, as we look out on I-95 and see the traffic or the bad weather or imagine ourselves cramped on a flight or in our vehicle, we are always so thankful that we are on the train. This is really fun!!

Or so we think ...

As we are playing games, snacking and talking ... Rachel announces, "my stomach hurts. I feel like I'm ...."

so glad they moved things quickly!

Before you said anything, I noticed how pretty your nails are! I haven't done the gel nails yet but I want to!

poor Rachel and her sickies! But I saw your earlier "spoiler" comment so I'm curious as to what happens...

Looks like a fun time at DHS with your friends. The play area did look pretty crowded

I am glad you enjoyed your meal at Sci Fi and your sandwich was good :goodvibes

I am praying Rachel's sickness does not come back and stomach hurting a little is the end of it :goodvibes

The Lion King rooms look really fun! Thanks for photographing all the details -- I was just wishing for a closer look at the lamps, and you provided it! Now I just need some Grandchildren to help me convince hubby we should try them. ;)

Bummer about the noise, though.

Finally we move her to the sofa bed and she finally tells us, "Can you put the trash can near my bed in case I need it?"

:scared1:

Well, so far she seems to be timing these bouts well. *knocks wood*

Hope all is okay and you are just busy with school activities

can't wait for more popcorn::

OMG -- How can almost a whole year go by and I still haven't finished my TR! It's only 17 days until our next trip.

Ok, I'm going to at least provide the abbreviated version. Hope many come back to finish it too!:thumbsup2

Well, we left this Trip Report back in January and had just gone to DHS, Sci-Fi Dining and Rachel was the Rebel Spy.

Unfortunately, she was also sick and ended up not sleeping well at all.

So on Monday, January 14th we sleep in, had breakfast in the room and then went to explore our AOA resort. Right outside our building was the Elephant Graveyard

and this was fun to explore, run around and find hidden Mickeys (or a Hidden Simba!). Rachel was feeling better, too.

Rachel pretending she is a lion roaring:

Then we walked around the different sections of AOA-- Cars, Nemo and went to eat lunch at the food court. I love their food court b/c it has loads of options and really healthy food too. We all got broiled fish and it was yummy! Then we went to the Nemo pool to swim.

This is a magnificent pool -- literally a Deep Blue Sea!

While at the pool, they had a Disney Trivia contest called "Disney Counts" and I won 1st place!!!! :cool1::cheer2:

Here is my prize

Rachel came in 2nd place and I was quite proud of her!!:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

After showering, we went to Mama Melrose for dinner at DHS. When Rachel and I ate here in July, we had a wonderful dinner. Tonight, it was ok to good...nothing special.

Fish

Mussels (this was good)

Elie fell asleep in Mama Melrose so of course after we leave she is hungry, so we let her eat some of the apples that Rachel didn't eat at dinner.

Afterwards we went on Star Tours and I did my special trick and was chosen as the Rebel Spy this time! So for this trip we are 2 for 2!!

We watched Legend of Capn Jack Sparrow which had cool effects but I wouldn't wait in a line for it unless you were in the next group. But as you can see in this photo, it is really cool.

We then went on ToT and Rachel said she now liked it!! I bought them candy/cookie to eat while waiting for F! since they were good sports about trying ToT.

This was Elie's first time on ToT -- and you have to remember she is only 3 years old then!! She said it was scary bc her legs flew up in the air. When we told her that was normal, then she said she would ride it again. As you can see in the photo, she is not really enjoying it here. We are in the 2nd row.

We decided not to do it again then but headed over to F!. Rachel loved F! and Elie was a bit scared of the villains but adored the princesses.

Rachel is feeling much better

And Elie and I are having fun, too

A cool dragon photo!

Another cool photo of the dragon

I love the serpent in F!

Back to our room for the night.

Hallways in Lion King building.

I'm not sure I posted this yet, but here are the entrance doors to our Lion King building -- so cool!

I love that resort! It is so cute! I am thrilled to see you come back to this. I have kind of gone back to my 2007 trip report that I didn't finish because how sick I was. The girls are so cute!

Welcome back!!!!! :cheer2:

I went back and read the last few posts to refresh my memory'

Now off to read what happened next :moped:

So glad Rachel felt better the next day!!

That is great Rachel now likes TOT and Ele went on it too. What Troopers they are :thumbsup2

Great dragon shots

So, what is your rebel spy trick? Will you share it with us please or at least me ? :rotfl:

Art of Animation is now going to be our go-to resort when we aren't using our points for DVC. The resort is so neat and you really can spend a day or more just exploring it. I have so many more photos of us just wondering around. There isn't time to show them all.

Oh, please send me the link to your TR. I didn't see you restarted. Wow -- 6 years, that's when our gang kind of all got started!!

Me, too! The problem of traveling in winter is the higher potential of being sick. Thankfully, she was better and the rest of us were ok.

Both girls said they are looking forward to doing ToT again -- even Elie!!

My rebel spy trick is literally what I told Rachel. When you get in the ride, immediately sit down, put on your seat belt and then look straight ahead with a smile or pleasant look on your face. Everyone else is fiddling with their seat belts or talking and looking away. They only have a few seconds to grab a photo to use and they need to pick someone facing the front and being relatively still.

Try it next time and let me know if it works!

Today is Tuesday, January 15th

Everyone seems healthy so we get up at 7am and are in Epcot at 8:10am for EMH. We head straight to the new Test Track and I like it!

We had fun designing our own cars. We also got a FP before riding so we could do it two times in a row. With the FP, you don't get to do as much designing of your vehicle, so I'm glad we did stand-by first.

Then we played around with a bunch of the photos with the cars afterwards.

Off to Mission Space -- I thought we all were able to ride, but Elie was just a little too short. So Elie and I went to the playground to wait for Jerry and Rachel to do the spinning side. Mission Space spinning is on the list for Elie next month (Dec '13).

From there we rode Figment and Soarin. Of course we had to get our traditional family photo in front of the upside down water falls. <Sigh>, look how big Rachel and Elie are getting now. If you recall, we started this tradition when Rachel was nearly 2yo and Elie wasn't even in the picture -- literally.

I guess this year's photo will be the last for us to be able to lift up Elie!

Now Elie was dressed in a Cinderella shirt and as a CM approached her, he asked if Elie had met Cinderella yet.

Elie: "No, we haven't gone to the real Disney yet!" was her reply! :lmao::rotfl2:

Then she said to me, "Mommy, this is just the pretend Disney, right?"

The CM and I laughed out loud at her innocence and remark.

In her mind, going to DHS and EPCOT did not count. She was waiting for Magic Kingdom!!

Then off to lunch at Seasons at The Land. This is one of our favorite places to eat at Epcot for lunch. Somehow, even with all the hustle and bustle of the area, it feels relaxing to us as we always get a booth, let the girls lie down for a bit and watch all the people.

At this point, we had some time, so I decided to wander and get some photos of the girls together. I ended up creating an incredible two-page spread of just these shots -- I loved their innocence and joy. I won't post all the pics but will just show you one.

Back to the resort and we decide to walk around The Little Mermaid section. I was so excited to see this, b/c it wasn't open in 2012 when Rachel and I went to visit on our July trip...and I just love Ariel.

Dinglehopper

This is me doing my Ursula imitation. I love Ursula too!

Sebastian

My pretty Ariel!! I have this pose in a ceramic display -- it is adorable!

And all around they had lots of colorful fish. This part of the resort blows away the rest ... or maybe it's just me, since I'm in love with The Little Mermaid movie.

So there are three buildings - King Triton, Ariel and Ursula. As you enter the area, you see Prince Eric's statue.

We decided to swim again at the Nemo pool, since that had the most stuff to do and it's just a great pool.

After swimming, we had everyone rest for 1 hour...not enough to nap but just to relax a bit. Then back to Epcot for Canada's Winter Wonderland (characters in winter garb -- lines were long so we just looked).

We decided to try something new - Agent P and this was a lot of fun to do. A bit too long as it starts with a bunch of talking. But we will do this again.

Then we had a Girl Scout Dis-meet with Jen's daughter. We met on the International Gateway bridge, figuring that was appropriate for Girl Scouts! Here we all are making the GS Promise sign. It's fun to meet other Dissers!! Thanks Jen for meeting up!

Finally, we went to Biergarten. I was really looking forward to this buffet, the show, etc. Jerry didn't want to go b/c although we are German, he doesn't really like the "sour" foods. I told him that there would be a lot more than sauerkraut and pickles!

Unfortunately, I will say we were very disappointed. We are not picky eaters and can always find something at a buffet. However, maybe we just hit it at a bad time because the food was dry and kind of tasteless...like it had been sitting out for a while. I did like the soup! We definitely found enough to eat but based on that meal, we won't be going back.

The girls LOVED all the dancing and we had a table right up against the dancing floor, so we let them dance away.

This is another reason the girls weren't eating - they were having too much fun dancing and then said they weren't hungry! Here is Elie after just coming back to the dance floor -- she is all excited!

I was surprised by how short the show was...only seemed like 3 or 4 songs. I really wish it was longer since that was the best part of the whole restaurant. We never got to hear them use the big, long horn, even though they said they would. However, the Chicken Dance was a HUGE hit with my family and others and we all got up on stage and were Goofy!

While in Germany, we did Agent P and this one was really cool. My favorite area was the German Bier Stiens singing and I also loved the Dolls section.
Unfortunately, by the time I got my camera out, the steins were no longer opening up to sing, but you get the idea.

At the end of the Agent P Mission, you have to return the little phone in a special place in each country. Here is one of them.

It's late, so off to MouseGears for some shopping. With a stop at Mexico, because you just HAVE to try on the sombrero -- everyone does it!

We bought 3 bags worth of goodies!!! And then home to AoA.

Thanks for the Rebel Spy tip. Definitely going try that in February. Will report back :thumbsup2

Looks like a good day

Love the Real disney comment :rotfl2:

Both girls are getting so tall. Growing up so fast
