Is anyone else hugely entertained by the FP+ tier system test?

I think the difference is they're trying to get people who would spend more if they were not in line to be in line less. You, who knew how to optimally utilize FP-, were not that "high-margin" customer. You actually cost Disney a lot in the # of times you rode the ride (each riding of any ride has a known fixed cost) and you do so frequently. Meanwhile more casual travelers who would spend more time at the pool or gift shop buying drinks or nick nacks are standing in line waiting while some low-profit commandos ride over and over. So Disney studied this and figured that getting those ppl on 3 rides (even 1 Tier-1 and 2 Tier-2's) would satiate most of their need to ride rides, make them happy, and get them off doing other things that involve spending more money. Disney is not making this decision willy nilly. I assure you the research is there. It is already proving to raise sales and profit.

Many of these "low profit commandos" are the ones who are saying they don't like where this is headed. Do you seriously think that they will make themselves feel better about this system by buying cheap(quality not cost to them) souvenirs?

No, I don't expect that. I'm saying they are not Disney's concern, nor their target audience. So I can understand that they're upset. But, being upset and venting on an internet forum is about as productive as flipping someone off in traffic so I'd suggest ppl instead figure out ways to make FP+ actually work. I am a commando type. I don't want to complain about what I'm not gonna get now, I want to learn it and get the most out of it I can, given that I'm going no matter what cuz I simply want to go.

This is why I am not in management. I can't think like that!

Actually Disney execs have said that if people simply use the magic band they will spend on average about 15% more. I am not making that up. They have said this on numerous occasions. The articles can be found on the page linked in my signature if you want to read them. I am a little tired of citing them.

I can believe that. one it is a novelty right now and two, it doesn't feel like you are spending money.

I thought that every paying customer is Disney's concern and anyone with two nickels to rub together are there concern also they may be future customers.

Venting is a healthy way for people to release. Who cares if people vent on a message board. I think they know that it isn't going to change anything, but if it helps them feel better so be it. Others are just discussing where they think this is headed. Again no big deal that what happens on a message board. It just seems like no one is willing to just listen to other's points of view. No one gets a prize for being right.

Plus there is no way to know who is right. I suspect that no one here is completely "right".

I still believe that Disney wants everyone they can get their hands on to spend money. They might have an idea that certain people will spend more but I don't think that they would be so elitist that they would just discount the lower tiers if you will. If they do think like that then what about the Value resorts? They can't be all that profitable.

Which is the reason they are implementing this technology. Its not about fastpasses, that's only a small part, its about tracking spending patterns so they know what to market to who and when. That is how they are going to make money off of this.

They should market high quality products and services at reasonable prices to everyone! Or is that silly?

Why should they? They are selling crap just as easily and it has a higher profit margin. You are equating that they care about the customer when it is the profit margins they desire.

Just to add, someone in another thread mentioned $10 beer at a ballpark. Probably crappy domestic beer too. Is that worth $10? Nope but they know you will pay it because its the only beer at the stadium so if you want one you have to pony up

Or.....you could pre-schedule your many cheaper beers before the game begins and then leisurely stroll/stagger into the stadium after you wake back up. Everyone knows the real roller coaster ride begins once you get inside. :)

Yes but you can only pre-schedule 1 premium beer, the other 2 will just have to be swill :rotfl:

What  there's no prize? I thought there was going to be prizes :worried: Geeez all this time spent on these boards for nothing

Love it!:lmao: But you are welcome to stick your hand in the ice-cold cooler looking for a mediocre beer in the meantime. ;)

And it has "interactive" mountains on the can that turn colors when it's cold. That could be totally entertaining.:thumbsup2

What do you suppose they can charge for that? Ah, maybe we won't let everyone have em :thumbsup2 That should drive the cost up no?

People will line up in droves....possibly for over an hour...just to witness the awesome "interactive" can. Once the word gets out about just how cool the interactive cans are it's sure to create chaos, just to be able to witness the awesomeness of said can.

But then once people actually "taste" it they will probably feel like they were lied to and wonder why they actually paid money to taste it. Once you've waited in line for one generic beer they all start to taste the same.

But you don't actually know how the generic beer will taste because they are still TESTING it!!!! I'm sure the generic beer makers will make it be the best generic beer ever because that it what they do and they would never let us down. Damn I should have texted that in pink :sad1:
