Why no POFQ?

I've noticed that the last several offers have not really included POFQ..... or the discounts aren't even close to as deep. For this one- the savings on my family of 4 would be a grand total of $60. If I switch to POR (which we plan to)- it would save us $322. Why? Is it because POFQ is smaller? or popular? I don't get it. We used to get the very same savings for there years ago, but it seems those days are gone.
Curious if anyone had any insight. We love the small, quaintness of POFQ, but the savings are too great not to switch. Esp since we are going on a big family vacation with 2 other rooms/packages- the savings total to switch will be close to $1000! but only around $300 total for POFQ. :confused3

I think you already listed both reasons POFQ is not included. It is a smaller resort and it is very popular. Disney does not really need to discount the rooms here to sell them.

When I was booking our May trip the CM told me exactly that. Relatively small resort, Extremely popular-No discount offer needed to fill rooms. Actually, the discount was something like 5%. Not enough considering the 25-30% elsewhere. We do love the French Quarter.

ok- those were just my guesses. I love POFQ~ it is by far our favorite moderate. but, the savings just don't justify staying there. Yeah, I think it is like 5% vs. 20-25%.

We had to make the switch away from POFQ last year for that very reason. It makes me sad, because we love FQ. However, when you figure in the cost difference, it just can't be justified. I was really hoping that once PORS finished their refurbishment, FQ wouldn't be quite as popular, but that didn't seem to help. Maybe if CBR ever gets queen beds and a refurb that will help matters a little. I get the feeling that when FQ was the first mod to refurb, that brought a lot of people over. Hopefully someday we can go back!

I think the POFQ perfect resort cause of it's size. Very short walk no matter the building to the main area's, and that you pay for just like all the others with "preferred rooms". Given the distance every room at POFQ "could be" considered a preferred room.

July 23- July 30th pricing used (2 Adults 1 Child)
Riverside preferred room - $1392 (with discount)
POFQ Standard View - $1466 (with discount)

We are talking 74 buck differance for a comparable room in terms of distance. It could be debated the 74 buck extra is to have less people around you, i.e the pool or food court.

To me the price makes perfect sense. With a 74 buck difference that wouldn't stop me from staying at the POFQ again.

Well- this is a big family vacation with 11 people- 3 packages/rooms. We switched to POR~ standard view room. The walk will be much further to bus stops/food court than at POFQ~ but for a total savings of $950~ just can't justify the difference.
I will miss POFQ~ but am excited about returning to POR~ it's been a while since we've stayed there!

That's where it would add up, on a big trip like that. I'll be at POR Saturday and I can't wait!

We booked our upcoming stay at POFQ on Orbitz and saved 20%. Their discount was the same across the board for all moderates, unlike the current summer Disney promo.

I prefer to book direct with Disney...but this deal was too good to pass up and we wanted POFQ.

I booked with Orbitz as well. Their rate for this summer was lower than the WDW summer offer.

We just booked for the end of Feb and got a hell of a deal...it was significantly discounted (20-25%?!) Plus 2 6 day PH's and DDP. Maybe it's the time of year you're aiming for?

We are booked for the last week in January 7 nights/8 days, dp and 6 day park tickets. We are a family of 4. DD 10 and DS 5. With the S/P/D we saved $841 for the POFQ. I was pretty happy with that.

we just got back on Saturday from a week at POFQ. What a fantastic resort, easy to see why Disney does not need to offer deep discounts to keep the rooms fully booked. My sister was lucky enough to get a FD PIN last spring that we were able to use for both our rooms. So glad we had a chance to stay at FQ.

Discount or no discount this girl will stay at POFQ. I can't see myself staying at any other mod and even deluxes only AKL and BC will do!

We stayed at POFQ this past August for our first time. LOVED IT! And we were able to book a free dining BB offer for the end of next August. Not 100% we'll be able to go, but I wasn't missing on the possibility of that great deal at POFQ! We booked it and we'll see...fingers crossed!!!!

If you're a AAA member, look into that. For 2013 and 2014, I got a 20% AAA discount on a room only res at POFQ, and you can book that directly with Disney. (If you want a package with a AAA discount, that has to be booked through AAA.)

Also, I think a lot of people 'downgrade' from deluxe because POFQ is so nice and it's a sizable price change. So you are competing with people who are typically spending a lot more per night and think POFQ a really good value, even at the increased rates.

This is our family - we used to stay deluxe until we discovered POFQ. It is our favorite resort at any price point in WDW.
