Before I start forgetting the details of our AMAZING trip to WDW....


Although fair warning, I completely DID NOT take notes for two whole days on this trip...I have no idea why...

But probably because I didn't take notes....

I'm Ali (or Alison...or Al...I respond to all of them) - and yes, I'll be 31 years old this December and yes I bought a Duffy on this trip.

And several outfits for him.

Don't judge me.


I was accompanied on this journey by my BF of 10 years, Lumar:



Our trip began on October 13 and unfortunately came to an end on October 25 I remember getting there that first day, and thinking "we still have the ENTIRE trip ahead of us..." and now, we've been home for a full week!

So now I'm going to eat dinner and then I'll be back (hopefully tomorrow!) with an actual update!

I swear I'm doing an update TONIGHT! Our apartment is a mess since we got home and partly because I literally haven't even finished unpacking our suitcases! I can't wait to get started because this trip was so awesome!!! If only this pesky job wasn't in the way!

it's not as horrible as it sounds but the circumstances surrounding it were so funny that I had to use that as my TR title! Thanks so much for tagging along! We had great weather, didn't we!?

"What's your favorite line from a Disney movie?"​

Our "Leave For Disney Weekend" was actually quite busy. Both of us had to work Friday, and on Saturday, we spent the day in NYC at New York Comic Con. We had a blast in NYC but we were EXHAUSTED by the time we got home on Saturday night!

I finished our last minute packing and finally went to sleep...only to wake up 3 hours later.

We left our house for the airport at 5:30am on Sunday morning, drive about 15 minutes....

And turned around and drove all the way back home.

Why? Because I plugged in my camera battery to charge overnight and forgot to grab it on our way out!

Half an hour later, we were actually on our way to the airport! We dropped off the car, hopped on the shuttle, and arrived at the airport at 7am.

The JetBlue line had a crazy amount of people in it and our flight was scheduled to leave at 8am! I had done online check in but I needed to print our boarding passes and we had one suitcase to check, so we had to stand in the line. We finally got that settled and made it through security, then headed down to our gate. We got there just as they started boarding our flight!

We left right on time and although I had intended to sleep on the flight, I got sucked into a Criminal Minds marathon instead.

We landed, disembarked, and ran through the terminal so that I could get something to eat before I went on a circus elephant style rampage.

I am NOT a nice person when I'm hungry.

So at 11:30am I was sitting down to breakfast:

Lumar had Quiznos. I thought I took a picture but apparently I was much too busy stuffing my face to care that much about his sandwich.

After we ate, we took the Fake-O-Rail to the B side. I was pleasantly surprised to find that we could use our MagicBands to check in for DME! Didn't know that before we got there!

So we get in line and there's seriously like 2 couples in front of us. The line was NOT long, which meant that a bus had probably just left not long before. But we knew another would be along shortly so we just waited, excited to be in Florida and on our way to DISNEY WORLD!

Well, the guy in front of us starts IMMEDIATELY with the complaining! "I can't believe you have to wait this long," "this is ridiculous, Carnival Cruises wasn't like this," "are they kidding me with this?" On and on and on and on.

For the entire 10 minutes we had to wait. TEN MINUTES. I felt like asking him if he'd ever actually BEEN to Disney before, and if he had any idea what he was in for as far as waiting in lines was concerned. But I kept my mouth shut, and turned around to talk to Lumar about something completely mindless just to give me something to do other than focus on Mr. GrumpyPants.

Our bus arrived and we found some seats.



And Lumar and I promised each other right then and there that if any point during this trip, one of us started acting like an old fart, we had to call each other out on it. No acting like an old fart in Disney World!

After a not so long drive, we were finally home!

For the next four nights anyway!









We checked in, and the CM was super nice. She saw on our reservation that we were celebrating our anniversary (together for 10 years!) so she gave us Happy Anniversary buttons, and directed us to our room.

I was so excited to finally be staying at my DREAM resort!

I have a few more pics of the room (the kitchenette, the bathroom, etc), but I know you're all waiting on baited breath for the best part.....




And look what we could see from our balcony:




We could also hear the people riding it, screaming. Craziness!

So we showered and made ourselves presentable, then hopped on a bus for the MK, in the hopes that the monorail was working and we could easily get to our dinner ADR at California Grill!

On the bus ride over, Lumar told me that he had come up with a cool idea. He said that anytime we started up a random conversation with a CM, he was going to ask them "What's your favorite line from a Disney movie?" I told him that was a good idea and it would be interesting to hear some of the responses. He asked me what mine was and I started to think about my three favorite Disney movies: The Lion King, Robin Hood, and The Jungle Book. Although there are a TON of good ones, mine was from The Lion King:
"Oh yes, the past can hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or... learn from it."

He told me he was having a lot of trouble thinking of one himself. His favorite movies are Aladdin, Toy Story, and Hercules so I told him to just think about them and it would come to him.

So we arrived at dinner, and we were seated a quiet little table next to the windows. The restaurant looks FANTASTIC since it's renovation! It's so much brighter in there now! We had a nice castle view:



Our wonderful amazing server was Daniel. He brought our drinks and took our dinner orders.

I can't remember the name of my drink but it was delicious. And Lumar ordered a beer which he liked but I didn't. But I really do not like beer.






Lumar ordered the oak fired filet and loved it:



And although I wanted the California Roll, for some reason I ordered the Dragon Roll instead:



It was good but it wasn't what I wanted. Since it was totally my mistake, I dealt with it. But not before accidentally ingesting some wasabi. Yikes!

After dinner, Daniel brought us a surprise creme brulee for dessert for our anniversary, which we inhaled.



After we make little piggies of ourselves, Daniel brings the check and Lumar asks him his question.

Lumar: "What's your favorite line from a Disney movie?"

Daniel: (after some thought) "I work part time for a kids camp and one of the quotes that we use all the time is 'to infinity and beyond.' It just works for so many things in life, you know?"

Lumar: "Yeah, that's a really good one! I'm having some trouble coming up with one, myself! One that I actually really like is from Robin Hood. It's at the part where Robin and Little John are in the forest and they're talking about Maid Marian.,...


At this point, I'm totally confused, because we've only watched Robin Hood twice in ten years and both times, Lumar fell asleep. So I'm wondering, visibly, as I was told later, what the heck he's talking about.

Lumar: (continuing) "And Robin Hood says "what am I supposed to say? Hey remember me? We were kids together, will you marry me?"

And BAM!

HE'S GOT A RING!

ON THE TABLE.

IN FRONT OF ME!

Literally, I just kept saying "no, no, no," over and over again, because I was in total absolute shock. I couldn't think! I was literally stunned speechless. He finally asked me if that was my answer and of course I said my answer was yes! I didn't even notice that Daniel not only grabbed my cell phone and started hammering away on the camera button, but he later told us he realized that the check was on the table and it looked tacky so he moved it out of the way!











And a blurry pic that I sent to my entire family and a few good friends just before my phone battery died:




Daniel came back a minute later with two glasses of champagne and I literally gulped my glass down like a shot. I was still totally floored! In retrospect, I wish I had nursed it because it was the best champagne I've ever tasted.

The rest of the night was a total blur (and no, not because of the alcohol!) and although I know we went to DTD I have no idea what we did!

Oh, and your room at the AKL was just lovely (love that resort).

Thank you SO MUCH! He told me afterwards that over the course of our relationship I basically described my idea of a perfect proposal and my perfect ring. He said he would ask me random questions every once in a while and he remembered all of it! Things like "don't get down on one new, that's lame and it looks like you're begging," (apparently I really said that at one point), and "don't do it with a million people watching." I also told him I didn't want a big flashy engagement ring, I didn't want platinum or a princess cut diamond, because that's what everybody gets. Every little detail was perfect! I'll try to remember to take a better pic of the ring and post it tonight!
