(CLOSED) Disney's BOARDWALK INN and VILLAS INFORMATION THREAD

The studio has one queen bed and one double sleeper sofa. The inn room has two queen beds. That's the big difference.

Right - and no daybed - BWI rooms sleep 5 and the studio sleeps 4. That is why I was thinking > cost at BWV. I was thinking 1 BR compared to BWI.

So cool that you can get such a great discount on a Villa studio right now!

Does anyone else find the BWI rooms to smell really musty??? We have 3 rooms and one was worse than the others but the other 2 rooms also have a musty mildew smell. We got all our rooms in a row so we don't want to move, and I'm assuming even if we did it would be the same issue. Has anyone else noticed this?

On our trip to CSR, we had a mildew smell issue. I quick call to mousekeeping and they fixed the problem within a few hours. The mousekeeper replaced the inner liner of the shower curtain and bleached the tub.

Just checking in from BWI..
Checked in yesterday. Day was a blur because we were exhausted!

Quick thoughts on BWI-
Gorgeous resort! Still haven't even seen a lot of it!

We checked in @ 10:30 at CL desk-amazing service! Our room was ready. We are in 4216. We were fortunate to be upgraded to a 2bdrm suite because they re categorized Garden Cottage max occ.
It's magnificent! 1st bedroom has King bed, tons of storage, large walk in shower, huge jacuzzi tub & separate toilet area.
In between bedrooms is a nice sitting room. Big size. Has sofa, bar area, refrig, Keurig maker.
Separate bathroom in that room.
2nd Bdrm has 2 Queens-another full bath.
They have tons of storage as well.
We have more TV's to count, even one in the Master Bath!
We also have 2 safes.
Room is set up as 2bd lockoff
We had turndown service last night-she actually came in while we were unpacking which was fine We haven't even been to the pools yet.

CL has been great! All very nice CM's.
Only one issue. My daughter has severe Peanut/Tree nut allergy & they were supposed to get her food that was safe for her & that still hasn't happened. We usually have kids grab food for breakfast in lounge & she really can't have anything. 4 CM's later & hopefully it will be fixed later.

More to report later! .
I hope you're still having a great vacation and thanks for checking in with us.

I have had our door open the whole time, one of the other rooms has small children so I know they haven't left their door open but it does help.
It could be the ventilation system that is in need of sanitizing and/or a new or refreshed filter. If the mustiness is more prominent near the bathroom, there could be more mold/mildew that's being generated there and the fan in the bathroom could be the culprit:confused3

Hi all!

Hubby and I are going to be first timers at Boardwalk this winter.... I am trying to decide between a standard view room at BWI or a studio in the BWVs....can you help me weigh out the pros and cons? I don't know which of the two is a closer walk to Epcot either.

Thanks so much for any wisdom you can share with me!!
The BWI rooms are larger than the Studio. BWI is 434 SF and a BWV Studio is only 359 SF. While there isn't a W/D in the Studio, you would have access to them for free. But, if you book using points, you won't get daily housekeeping for free. I would always book a non-villa room Vs. a Studio at any WDW resort.

Try turning the ceiling fan on and have the A/C running. Let housekeeping know they can come in and do something. We always have housekeeping leaving the ceiling fan on as well as the A/C on. Some rooms are worse than others but they can fix it.MHO

That's so cute that you're wide awake now and it's nice of you to ask about photos. We wish you and your family safe travels and tons of Disney fun! Hope you'll report back to us soon:)

Let me first start off my saying THANK YOU for a wonderfully informative thread. I have been trying to soak in and go through all the pages of information, but still working my way through; please forgive me if I ask questions that have already been answered.

My boyfriend and I are looking for the most convenient room for our needs while stay at Boardwalk Inn during Star Wars Weekends (SWW) 2014. Since putting requests into your reservations ASAP is a good way to get a better chance of getting our needs met I am asking for advice now while still digesting the many pages of this thread.

*** Background: We have never stayed at the BWI before; during 2013 SWW we tried the Swan and were EXTEREMLY disappointed. We had picked the Swan because of the quick access to Disney Hollywood Studios (DHS). For those of you that have never gone to SWW or not "hit" it as crazy as some of us do you might not know that we SWW fans who want autographs will get up and be inline in front of DHS as early as 3 am in the morning, and depending on the Star Wars celebrity some people have camped out all night in line (to get an autograph you have to obtain a pre autograph fast pass for the celebrity you want and once they are gone you aren't able to get your autograph)! So during SWW 2013, my boyfriend and I were crazy enough to get in line this early 5 mornings during the course of 2 SWWs we attended out of the 4 held at DHS. This trip we are only going for 1 of 4 SWW held at DHS. We are staying for 5 days/4 nights (Thursday - Monday) with Friday, Saturday and Sunday being completely devoted to SWW at DHS. We are arriving extremely early on Thursday, using magical express rather than renting a car. ***

I know most of this thread is about the great view, and although important, not as important to us this trip on our rushed schedule as quality, comfort and convenience. Our priority list a great king size bed room that is as close/easy access to DHS walkway (we already know that BWV is closest but we wanted to say at BWI for our first time at the Boardwalk Resort). We dont mind walking through the resort as long as we can navigate it rather well. We only reserved a standard view, not on the club/concierge level because we will not be in the resort during the times that those bonuses are given/open. We might use the pool on Friday and some breaks during the SWW but not very often if at all.

:worship: Thanks in advance for any advice and thanks for taking the time to read my LONG post. :coffee:

I look forward to all the tidbits!

IPO? Ok you lost me, I assume it's someone with the best magic pixiedust: wand ever... But in truth what/who is this magical being?

Itinerary Planning Office. If you are staying Club Level, you can email IPO the list of ADRs you would like and they will make the reservations for you. They will also make other types of reservations for you too, like Pirates and Pals cruise, dessert party, etc.

Ahhh gotchya! Since I didn't book Club Level this time do to lack of use/time at the resort I will not be able to enlist the IPO's aid. HOWEVER, I will remember this little tidbit for my next trip that is in 2015 where we will be staying for 10 plus days at AKL. Do all the deluxe resorts have IPO at club level? If so I will be sure to make the IPO at AKL my best friend(s)... do you think they like chocolates? :scratchin

:welcome: (from a former Hoosier) to the thread and I'm glad you've found it informative. Never worry about asking questions on this thread, even if they've been answered. Your SWW schedule has me feeling a bit :faint:, but it's all for a good cause:thumbsup2. Happy planning and staying at BWI.

The IPO CMs are not the same as the CMs who work CL. Don, for example, is a wonderful AKL IPO CM, but he doesn't work in the lounge. You can bring gifts for the CL CMs, but keep in mind that those who you correspond with pre-arrival, are not the same as those you'll encounter during your stay.

For The Sunrise Student, the hardest part of your request to be fulfilled will be the King Bed. Those are hard to come by at most WDW resorts, unless it's a special bookable category or a special room like the cottages at BWI or a 1BR in BWV.

Others might be able to help more with location, I don't think there would be much difference in distance from DHS on the BWI side. But I think you'll get one or the other at most -- either the king bed or a location that you'll want.

:wave2: Hello former Hoosier! Thanks for the warm welcome. We are really excited about staying at BWI despite the lack of time actually spent at the resort during the weekend, but we will enjoy the times that we are there, I can feel it :lovestruc

Yeah our SWW schedule is :crazy2: and last trip we ended up crashing in mid week sleeping nearly 16 hours after trying to do that crazy schedule weekend one, all the other parks during the week, only to follow up the same crazy schedule weekend two!

I was :joker: joking about the IPO pre-arrival gift chocolates, well maybe just a little :guilty: BUT I will be sure to appreciate those that take good care of us!

:confused3 I know that the standard view rooms at BWI are either two queens or one king, per WDW own description on the BWI resort page website when booking...

We have already called and had a CM put in a request for king bed. Since it is just two of us we only need one bed and would rather have more space in the room. Add to the fact that I am a six foot tall woman the length would be nice

I am glad to hear there isn't much difference in walk time from either side of the resort, but since our chances are extremely HIGH of walking through/around the resort during the weeee hours of the morning we would like to be able to get to DHS with the least amount of fuss, and would like not to stumble in the dark :duck:

If you look closely at the map of the Boardwalk resort, you'll see that the walkway to DHS goes along the canal. https://disneyworld.disney.go.com/resorts/map/

Technically, the Boardwalk Villas are the side of the resort that are along that canal and generally the fastest way to get to the walkway you'll want is to go out via a stairway to the outside. If you have a room at the Inn side of the resort, the 'safest' route will most likely be to take the Boardwalk itself almost to the intersection of the walkway to Swan/Dolphin - just before that intersection will be the path to DHS. If you look closely at the map you'll see that you could probably cut a few minutes off the walk by cutting through the parking lot, but at the time of the morning you're talking about I'd suggest taking the long (and presumably better lit) route so you don't find yourself wandering goodness knows where. :lmao:
