Is anyone else hugely entertained by the FP+ tier system test?

I noticed the info about the new tiered system for FP+ first over at Josh's blog:

http://www.easywdw.com/news/celebra...ends-december-20th-fastpass-changes-at-epcot/

So naturally wandered over here, figuring the discussion would be heating up. I get most of the way through the "BIG change to FP+ today" thread, when my browser decided to block the next page due to a "malware attack", somewhere in the thread. :scratchin

I was going to leave a comment there, but since that's not possible for the next little while, until whatever post it was get removed, I'll just say it here:

I don't think Disney could have possibly come up with something more perfectly designed to make the DisBoards melt down en masse, if they tried!

I have no idea what the final FP+ system will look like. But I'm finding the roller-coaster process of getting there highly entertaining. Yes, I know "may you live in interesting times" is a curse. My inner-ADHD child is dancing with wicked glee right now.

(Our next trip: Nov 30 to Dec 8th! :cool1:)

It's good that you left room for "next to," 'cause it is. See the BIG changes thread.

OK, this isn't tiered at ALL in the way I meant it, since all resort guests are being treated equally. *shrug*

I'm not gleeful but I do marvel at how people's views can be changed so quickly when the shoe is on the other foot so to speak. It also makes you wonder what if anything Disney will come up with next.

Tiered in the way 317 meant it ;)

I think 317 meant it won't be tiered as in deluxe resort guests getting more FP+ than others and such. That prediction is still in play, although personally I wouldn't stake my impeccable reputation on it. :groom:

I'm hoping they start selling a FP option like they do at Universal. I'd pay extra to get it. I know I'm going to be booed for that. LOL.

I do have sympathy for other people's pain, but at the same time, being as this is all the absolute definition of a "First World Problem", I'm also enjoying the drama of it all. It reminds me how fortunate I am to have such problems as these.

Ultimately, no one will lose their home, go hungry or die. Everyone will get to go to Disney, unless they cancel over this, in which case they'll get to go somewhere else equally awesome. It's a big world. There are even other Disney parks to visit, if you absolutely must have a Disney vacation. Someday, I'd really like to try a Disney cruise, Tokyo Disneysea, Disneyland, Disneyland Paris, one of those Vacations with Disney things...

So, other than an amused sense of, "Oooh, what next?" I have no strong opinion one way or another on the changes to the FP system. I'll try it and see. If we don't have a good time we won't be back, but I have no reason to expect we won't have a great time.

I love change! Even when it's occasionally uncomfortable or disorienting. Kind of the same way I love rollercoasters and haunted houses.

I would be very surprised if they do that - Disney tries very hard not to have different classes of guests in the parks (the hotels and perks there, yes, but not once you enter a park)

Yup, I'm with you on all this, Magpie. :highfive:

If I go into a fancy restaurant and order a filet, and they delivery a hamburger, I should be happy right? I mean, that's a first world problem, right? Lots of starving kids in Africa would love to have that hamburger, right?

ah but not true b/c if you are staying off property you are, at least for now, treated as a 2nd class visitor ala no FP+, no MB.

Yes, I admit I actually LOLed for reallies when I started reading that thread and realized what Disney did with the Epcot tiers. It's like they're toying with the DISers ON PURPOSE. Bwahahaha.

Sure, if you have a disappointing experience you can - and should! - protest to the management (ie, write directly to Disney).

And yes, getting a hamburger when you ordered filet IS a First World Problem. It wouldn't traumatize me, I simply would post my experience on Yelp and never return to that restaurant.

I doubt Disney would toy with their guests...not a good business model! This tiered FP+ system is the one my family tested in early December of last year. Looks like Disney is testing it again. For some reason it seemed more restrictive at MK than the other parks.

I don't think they are actually toying with them, LOL. I don't think they care about the Disboards either. It's just amusing because if one had to custom engineer a move to agitate the already emotionally taxed DISers, this tier system would be it.
