Hi everyone. We are fairly new to the DVC owning experience having recently purchased a resale BWV contract!!
I think we got a decent deal there, but now we want MORE points!!

Anyway, we were looking at BCV but prices seem high. What would be a good per point price for a 100 pt contract there in the present market?

I would feel good buying a 100 point contract with 2013 points and beyond at any total price less than $10,000. (After all costs). BCV is selling pretty high. I've been considering offering $90 on a very large contract but I think we're going to stick with BWV.

What did you pay for your contract and what agency did you use. I would stick with the same place.

I doubt the prices have changed that much since you bought, but not only do you need BCV resale with the proper number of points and cost, you should also consider the advantages/disadvantages of matching your current use year or not

Are you SURE you need a BCV contract. Because prices are high.

There are two advantages to owning BCV - one is easy access to Epcot - you have that with your BWV contract. The other is access to SAB. While it is true that BCV can be difficult to get, if you aren't looking for Food and Wine through mid-January, have some flexibility, and won't be heartbroken if you don't end up at BCV, you have a decent chance of getting BCV at least once in a while.

You MIGHT (and I can't answer this for you) find that expanding your points with an SSR contract and using that contract to get BCV when available (and 'sleep around' - booking what resorts are available and staying at SSR only when you want to or need to) might work as well and be cheaper.

Good Luck!

I agree with Crisi. You have an Epcot resort with BWV. Why not check out one of the MK resorts, or maybe Animal Kingdom Villas? They will give you a different type of experience/theming, and access to different parks. We own at VWL as well as BWV, and love the variety!

I would spend time staying at each resort before buying again. If we had done that we wouldn't own BCV and BWV, just BWV.

Yikes! With these prices I think I would be willing to consider buying direct with the hopes of getting current years' points. Don't forget the high price of closing costs.

Makes me feel pretty good about buying BCV for $72pp. We could turn a tidy profit if we decided to sell.

I can't help but wonder what all these contracts are actually selling at. The BCV contracts are not moving nearly as fast as they were a few months ago (especially the small ones) before asking prices went over $100.

Wondering the same thing. But if someone is selling, especially after buying direct, they will need to get a higher price to pay off the note if they financed. I would not be paying these prices for a stripped contract.

I have made an offer on one of the contracts noted above. If it is not accepted I will most likely reconsider my plan.

Either way I'll come back and let everyone know.

Thank you all for the responses, much appreciated!!:)

And I do think the suggestions of a resort at MK make sense as opposed to another Epcot resort, even though Epcot is our fav.

I also can't help but wonder if prices won't start to come back to earth as we get closer to the end of the year. If I don't get this BCV for my offer, we will most likely wait a couple months and see what happens.

For us BCV only makes sense if you love Storm-A-Long Bay pool. The resort really doesn't have great views, the YC/BC common areas are nice but at BWV you get the view, the BWV/Boardwalk common areas and the YC/BC common areas are a short walk or boat ride away.

I agree. We bought our small contract so we can enjoy SAB a few days each summer when it is way too hot to spend much time at the parks and as a resort alternative to water parks. We basically will spend the entire day @ SAB. We like to go beginning of June when point values are lower and before it has gotten way too hot & rainy. We felt for these reasons BCV was a good purchase for us. For the rest of the year, we love BWV.

Obviously a smart FSU fan figured this out. chop-chop

We too, love SAB and consider it almost as good as the water parks.

In addition to all the great points already made, we bought BCV for two other reasons that may seem silly.
1.) The parking is much better than BWV.
2.) It is a small resort with two elevators not one like BWV.

Oh the little things that both drive us crazy and/or keep us happy.:)

When we bought resale however there was a price difference between BCV and BWV but I don't recall it being as big as it is now?????
We ended up paying $76 a point at BCV, I think in 2009????

Not silly reasons at all. They are the same reasons we bought BCV over BWV. At the time BWV was $10 to $15 cheaper and the BCV contract was more attractive with banked points.
