~~ Sew hot, Hot, HOT! ~~ A sweltering Aug 2013 TR ~ Pre-Trippie link posted! ~ 10/31!

Your trip is over already? I had a doctor's appointment but it got cancelled because the hospital lost power due to a snow storm.

A snowstorm in Ohio? Eek; that's right across the river from me. Or are you closer to the Great Lakes?

We leave for Disney tomorrow, and my big fear is having to drive through a snowstorm. I hate snow.

Welcome!!! Super happy to have a new reader! That's really awesome! I am going to have to go google "amigurumis" - I do not know what those are.

They're crocheted stuffed animals. (I think you can also knit amigurumis, but they're mostly crochet). I've crocheted a few amigurumis. The Minnie purse I crocheted; the head may be considered amigurumi. But it's mostly the animal itself.

Leaving in about 20 hours. I can't wait. I'm at work right now...last day of work before Disney is always the longest 10 1/2 hours of the year.

I hate that dreaded last wake up at Disney. I can't believe how much you got done on your stockings they are looking awesome.

Those stockings just look like you...well, you're work, not you as a person...

I've started a PTR for next year in the attempt that it will keep me motivated to save, work and so on.

And...you're updating about the day you went home and you still have ONE MORE DISMEET!!?? Amazing. You need a vacation to get some rest from your vacation. :lmao:

I can't believe you are leaving. It's so unfair that we just can't stay there forever.

I'm glad you all had a good breakfast before you got on the ME and then the plane because as we all know there is no such thing as "food" on the plane unless you buy it and it usually isn't very good.

The stockings look great, D.

Oh Boo, the last day. The one good thing about being behind is that you don't have to wait to find out the cliffhangers so now that I am caught up I can't stand waiting!!!

I wanted to comment on all the posts I missed so I will include some random observations from your TR (no need for you to reply since I am way behind) LOL

First off I am impressed that Alli is going the vegetarian route and that you have done such a great job at finding meals that you can tweak for her.

Your stockings look really nice and I love the idea of the picture of them all together. Someday maybe you can all be together at Christmas time to enjoy the stockings together. Your blue fairy bag is so pretty and I love the fabrics of the Pinicchio bag. The appliques on these two are absolutely amazing.

You guys have so many nice pictures from your trip. I love the ones of you guys with Mulan and the ones from interacting with Push. I could hang out and watch him all day. He does look cute in your headbands. :lmao: How cool that you met up with Erin and her V in the parks. I love that Victoria asked for V's autograph. :goodvibes

Congrats on all your exercise paying off. I hope those jeans from Kohls make their way to your house soon. That Turkey hat is great. Your friend did a great job making that. I am VERY impressed, I know that could not have been easy to make.

I'm glad you had a nice time catching up with your cousin.

Good thing you are starting early on your sewing for your next trip (still waiting for more info on that but I have a feeling we will be in the loop soon) since you seem to have created a custom loving monster with your V. At least she can sew so you can put her to work.

I see MM knows he is not supposed to be on the couch, it looks like he is trying to squeeze himself in there in hopes that you guys won't notice. :rotfl:

That dress you made is amazing. The fabrics are lovely and it must be so nice to have something that fits you perfectly. BUT those pictures of you that Alli took are wonderful. She really captured you and you look so happy in all the pictures. On that same website that I sent you about taking your own family photos there was another blog post about picking clothes for a photo shoot. She talks about wearing something you feel good in because it really comes across in the pictures and after seeing your pictures I will agree 100%. Now, I hope that doesn't come across as me not thinking you look great in your other pictures but the ones of you in the dress you made that Alli took are above and beyond. I hope you get one of those framed for Josh.

So sad, the last day. :(

I love the stockings. So cute. like luggage, I tend to have too many Christmas stockings & tree skirts. I guess I collect happy memories in an unusual way.:scratchin

Even thought the TR brings you right up to getting on the ME bus, you still have surprises to share. That is so cool! Can't wait to see who is on the ME bus with you.

I live about a 1/2 mile from Lake Erie. I didn't get snow yesterday but my doctor is south of here in what's called the snow belt. There was about six inches of snow there and people are still without power. I wouldn't get much snow here until the lake freezes. We have what's called lake effect snow. the wind blows the snow inland to the higher elevations.
The Christmas stockiings turned out great. I made a case for my daughter's WiiU yesterday. She wanted it lined with this black fuzzy fleece. It's now all over the house. We're working on cleaning it all up.
I can't wait to here the details of the next trip you're planning.
The late day is always the worst. You have to leave Disney and go back to the real world.
Liz

Glad to see the stockings are coming along. They are looking quite cute!

I have not heard of a Rodesian Ridgeback before. I had to Google it to see what they look like. They are beautiful dogs. I am partial to larger dogs so I really like these. Nice that your doggie allowed you to interact with the puppy.

Oh, those last days are always so sad. So who was on the bus? It seems like you've already met just about everybody on this trip!

Oh man! A cliffhanger! I'm not at all surprised if you are able to get a group photo on the bus from knowing everyone! :lmao:

That dreaded final morning... sounds like between coffee, breakfast, and a Mickey krispie treat to go, you've made the most of it.

Eagerly awaiting the conclusion. :)

A snowstorm in Ohio? Eek; that's right across the river from me. Or are you closer to the Great Lakes?

We leave for Disney tomorrow, and my big fear is having to drive through a snowstorm. I hate snow.

I hope you have an amazing trip!!! You've been planning this event for so long - I am so very happy that your day is finally here!!!

I hate that dreaded last wake up at Disney. I can't believe how much you got done on your stockings they are looking awesome.

I know - that last wake up always sneaks up on me. And thank you... They are coming along much better than they were.

Those stockings just look like you...well, you're work, not you as a person...

Hahaha... I get it. LOL

I've started a PTR for next year in the attempt that it will keep me motivated to save, work and so on.

I am already there - I am very much looking forward to getting to know you and DH better... I love following TRs/PTRs of people who have become such good friends - I feel like I share so much of my life every day - it's just fun getting to know my friends better. I am so glad you are doing this! We can cheer eachother on!

And...you're updating about the day you went home and you still have ONE MORE DISMEET!!?? Amazing. You need a vacation to get some rest from your vacation.

Hahaha... This one wasn't planned at all though...

I know - I wish we could stay longer too... but then I tell myself that I am very lucky we get to go as often as we do. So, I am just happy to have the memories to bring home with me.

Isn't that the truth... Let me tell ya - I was SUPER happy when they let us take our donuts through security on our way to WDW - that is going to be the new tradition. I can choke down coffee just about anywhere - but those disgusting muffins, can't do that. LOL

Thank you for the compliments on the stockings... I know they aren't "traditional" Christmas colors - but I wanted something FUN - as overseas - their traditions are different than ours.

Oh Boo, the last day. The one good thing about being behind is that you don't have to wait to find out the cliffhangers so now that I am caught up I can't stand waiting!!!

I guess that's one good benefit. LOL Happy to have you back - I am anxious to hear more about your trip, and I would love to see some pictures!

I wanted to comment on all the posts I missed so I will include some random observations from your TR (no need for you to reply since I am way behind) LOL

You know I am gonna reply. LOL

First off I am impressed that Alli is going the vegetarian route and that you have done such a great job at finding meals that you can tweak for her.

It has not been an easy road for her - I am sad to say. She is still sticking to her vegetarianism, and we are doing the very best we can to give her the nutrition she needs. Josh, however, has been very - hmmmm - difficult?? He is just having a hard time, because he doesn't feel that she is getting the proper nutrition... I keep trying to tell him - Teens are GOING to rebel... there is no way around that. I would much rather have her rebel as a vegetarian than turn to drinking or drugs... We should be counting our blessings. Slowly - ever so slowly - he is starting to come around... but it is taking a lot of time. I do think he is starting to see my perspective a little more and more every day. I will gladly dirty an extra pan every night, so she can eat with the family... If it means she is not doing any of the other destructive behaviour that other teens tend to turn to.

Thank you... I honestly think this was someone's idea that they posted on my PTR/TR last year - but I can't remember who? I hope that some day we can be together for the holidays. And thank you for the compliments on my bags. :thumbsup2

You guys have so many nice pictures from your trip. I love the ones of you guys with Mulan and the ones from interacting with Push. I could hang out and watch him all day. He does look cute in your headbands. How cool that you met up with Erin and her V in the parks. I love that Victoria asked for V's autograph.

Thanks! Yah - Push was awesome! We loved him! We were all so happy to get to spend more time with Erin and little V.

Congrats on all your exercise paying off. I hope those jeans from Kohls make their way to your house soon. That Turkey hat is great. Your friend did a great job making that. I am VERY impressed, I know that could not have been easy to make.

Thank you... Slowly - ever so slowly - it's coming off. I hope they make it to my house some day soon too. LOL

Yah - that Turkey hat is awesome! BFF did a great job on it!

I'm glad you had a nice time catching up with your cousin.

Thank you! Me too!

Good thing you are starting early on your sewing for your next trip (still waiting for more info on that but I have a feeling we will be in the loop soon) since you seem to have created a custom loving monster with your V. At least she can sew so you can put her to work.

Yes, you all will have more info in the coming weeks, I promise. Hahaha... Yah - she has a nice list for me already... :faint: I could put her to work - if I could find a spot for her to sit in my sewing room that was out of the way... No worries though - I will find a way to let her help me - I won't be able to do it with out her. LOL

I see MM knows he is not supposed to be on the couch, it looks like he is trying to squeeze himself in there in hopes that you guys won't notice.

Yah - he has turned into quite the couch potato... :confused3

That dress you made is amazing. The fabrics are lovely and it must be so nice to have something that fits you perfectly. BUT those pictures of you that Alli took are wonderful. She really captured you and you look so happy in all the pictures. I hope you get one of those framed for Josh.

Aww... Thanks so much! I just love that dress... I think I may wear it for Thanksgiving. I only think I look as great as I do, because Alli is as talented as she is. LOL Both girls really have a way of making me laugh and making me happy - I think that shows in all the pictures they've taken of me over the years. I am so very, very lucky to have them in my life - it's such an amazing gift to be a part of theirs. :lovestruc

Thank you so much Liz for taking the time to catch up... You didn't have to do that, but I am very happy you did. I know the last few weeks have been very crazy for you - please know that you and your family have been in my thoughts and prayers. When you have the time, please send me a PM - here or on FB - and let me know how you all are doing. (((hugs)))

So sad, the last day.

I know - I know...

I love the stockings. So cute. like luggage, I tend to have too many Christmas stockings & tree skirts. I guess I collect happy memories in an unusual way.

Hahaha... I know excatly what you mean... Even though I don't collect those exact items - but I do have other collections that I do feel that way about.

Even thought the TR brings you right up to getting on the ME bus, you still have surprises to share. That is so cool! Can't wait to see who is on the ME bus with you.

Me too!

I live about a 1/2 mile from Lake Erie. I didn't get snow yesterday but my doctor is south of here in what's called the snow belt. Thanks Liz! LOL about that fuzzy fleece all over - I can relate - since my BFF has started making the hats, she has those fuzzies all over her house too.

I am getting anxious to start my next PTR though... I think you all need to start keeping your eyes open for it... It's coming soon.

Glad to see the stockings are coming along. They are looking quite cute!

Thank you! I am getting anxious to get them all done... Ideally - I need to have them completely done with in the next 2 weeks, so I can send Brian/Myrthe/Thomas' back to The Netherlands with her dad while he is here... So I am really trying to bust my behind on them.

I have not heard of a Rodesian Ridgeback before. I had to Google it to see what they look like. They are beautiful dogs. I am partial to larger dogs so I really like these. Nice that your doggie allowed you to interact with the puppy.

They are super cute! They do grow up to be quite large - however - MM is almost the same size as their full grown Rodesian.

Oh, those last days are always so sad. So who was on the bus? It seems like you've already met just about everybody on this trip!

Well, almost everyone... Hahaha... There is ONE person I missed.

Oh man! A cliffhanger! I'm not at all surprised if you are able to get a group photo on the bus from knowing everyone!

Hahaha... For all of our combined Dismeets - I am still bummed that we didn't even know eachother then, it would have been EPIC if we could have met... Next time - I hope.

That dreaded final morning... sounds like between coffee, breakfast, and a Mickey krispie treat to go, you've made the most of it.

Eagerly awaiting the conclusion.

Yes... I would so much rather leave in the morning like that - We tried to leave on a late flight on our March 2012 trip - and it just really sucked for us... It was like dragging out the inevitable, and too many variables that could make us late - it was really nerve-racking. I'd much rather leave in the morning, it's a lot less stressful for us.

**********************************************************

Yesterday was a good day... I managed to get two more stocking quilted... So now I have the 2 girls and little Thomas' stocking ready to be assembled. I have Josh's other brother's all cut out and ready to quilt. I am completely out of fabric for the cuffs for these though... BFF picked it up for me at JoAnn's the other day and even washed it for me - so I need to make a trip to her house sometime this weekend to grab it. It's so nice that she washed it for me though - so then I can get right to work on it as soon as I get home. Once all of these stockings are done, I will have 3 more to do, and I will be completely done... Josh's Mom, his Step-Dad, and his Step-Mom... :thumbsup2

I made a quick grocery trip to town yesterday... It really annoys me that just the necessities are so expensive... $90 for JUST the items we can't live with out... Cheese, Milk, Bread, Eggs, Yogert... I had a few coupons, but nothing real exciting. I have to go to the butcher today and pick up our ground beef order... I usually order more than I did this time, but I had to place the order during the Federal govt. shut-down and I didn't want to order more than we could handle paying for, because I didn't know if it would be resolved before I had to pick it up. Thankfully - it has been. :wizard:

I am taking Alli to the MOA again today.... 2 of the pairs of jeans she exchanged for last weekend, she wants to exchange again... :faint: This is the last time I am exchanging them - I swear!

I know I haven't been doing updates to my TR on the weekends, but I think I will do my final update this morning... No worries though - I still have a few updates after this... Remember - I have all of my Now n' Thens to post... So, that should make this TR last through the week and then it will be done. :( So, you'll need to keep your eyes open for my new PTR to start. :thumbsup2

I hope you all have an amazing weekend. :wizard:

Here it is... The conclusion...

The girls and I hopped on to the ME bus with all of our carry-on luggage... As we were coming up the stairs - the girls started talking to someone - I coulldn't see who it was, because I was the caboose...

When I finally got to the top of the stairs - guess who was there?

ERIN!!!!

Little V had gone home yesterday with her parents, and Erin's flight was this morning... When she saw us standing outside for the ME bus, she saved us seats at the front with her!!!

You know - it's always so sad to leave Disney - but I will tell you, this was the best ME ride back to the airport... it was so "soothing" to have someone on the bus with us that we knew... We chatted the whole way to the airport and took a few pictures...

IMG_1240.jpg

IMG_1241.jpg

ME dropped Erin off first - so we said our final good-byes to her and wished her safe travels. I am so happy the girls and I were able to meet her and Little V... They were just wonderful people and I am very fortunate to call them friends.

The girls and I were "Side B" at the airport... Thankfully ME had made it to the airport in time for us to get through security (we had an issue with that last time... And more recently - Suzi had an issue with that on this trip... So - this was a HUGE concern for me). The security line was INCREDIBLY long when we got there though - and it seemed to take FOREVER to get through. According to my journal - it was a 20-25 minute line - but we were through with out any issues at all.

We stopped to grab drinks for our flight - and had issues with paying CASH at the store... Who knew that it was that difficult to pay CASH? :confused3

We had about 20 minutes to spare before our flight began boarding - which was just about perfect... Long enough for me to go to the restroom 6 billion times before we boarded... :rolleyes1

We left the gate about 5 minutes late due to a late passenger...

Our flight was smooth, our seats were hard... Victoria spent the entire flight working on her lollipop...

IMG_1242.jpg

And Alli spent her entire flight ummm... Not sure? Resting? LOL

IMG_1243.jpg

We landed at our home airport right on time, at 3:15pm...

We were certain we had lost one suitcase... We saw 2 of them loaded at MCO, but once we were home - that last one was the very last bag to come down on to the corral... Allison was very nervous... But it finally came down.

We went outside into the blazing heat of MN - which was a reprieve from the FL heat (even though we were just ending a major heat wave), and we waited for Josh to get off of work at 4pm and pick us up...

One last photo outside the little airport...

IMG_1244.jpg

And that's it folks... The rest of my trip journal is blank.

I hope you all enjoyed following the girls and I on our adventures. We enjoyed sharing our trip with all of you. Thank you to all of you for being here, being such good friends, and giving us something to take away our Disney Blues...

Even though this TR is almost over... It's not quite over yet... I still have all of my Now n' Thens to post... So stay tuned next week as I crank those out.

D~

Great trip report! I have loved following along. It has been really nice to read a report that was updated on a regular schedule. It made my morning ride on the commuter train more enjoyable. :)

I'm looking forward to your new PTR. ::yes:: You have interesting reports.

D~

We always leave early, too. We like to have a nice sit down breakfast and then head on out. There was one time when I went to WDW with my sisters to run the Disney half marathon and we had evening flights home. It was the most miserable day, ever. The weather had turned cold and rainy and instead of a nice, warm resort room we had a cold and unpleasant lobby instead. The Polynesian lobby is not warm when it is cold in January. We will never again schedule an evening flight.

I have really enjoyed your trip report, your daily updates and the photos of your bags.
Thank you for taking the time to share all of this with us.
Cathy

The last day of the trip is always so sad! :sad2: However, it looks like even on ME you had one last bit of Pixiedust with getting to ride with Erin!

I have really enjoyed following along and reading all about your amazing trip. :goodvibes I'm looking forward to the next PTR too! Can't wait. Did I miss you announce your next trip or are you keeping us all in suspense over here! :confused3

Another one bites the dust. :-( so glad you have another trip to plan! Can't wait to see the Now and Thens- that is always so much fun!

Wow, you even managed a DISmeet on the ME back to the airport. :thumbsup2

That was very nice of Erin to save you guys seats.

When I went to WDW in January with my brother I took the ME back to the airport with them but we were on two different airlines. They got off at the first stop and I got off at the second stop. We met up at security but I could have just gotten off the bus with them, walked across the airport to check my bags (there was a problem and I couldn't check my bags at the hotel :confused3 )and walk back and it probably still would have been faster then taking the bus all the way around to the next stop. The ride from the first stop to the second stop seemed to take forever! And that security line in MCO is always soooo long.

As for grocery shopping, it does seem that the necessities cost the most - and never any coupons for those items. I have friend that buys milk when it is on sale and then freezes it (I think you have to dump some out so it has room to expand).

Looking forward to the now-and-then shots.

I was thinking about doing a mini TR but I'm not sure I will get a chance. Still need to edit all my PP pictures (note, the new site seems to be a little easier for adding borders) and we didn't take as many as we usually do but I'm still glad we got it for the ones that we do have and for the ride photos. I'll probably just end up sharing some pictures somewhere on the web. :scratchin

So sad your thread is over! I am new to DIS, so started out as a stalker with no comments. I really looked forward to knowing I could start my day with a little bit of Disney by reading your report. Great job and thanks for letting us join in!

That was nice you met up with Erin on ME so the disney downs weren't as bad.

Glad all your luggage showed up at your destination.

I look forward to seeing your then & nows.

thanks for sharing your journey with us. Hopefully, next time we will meet up.

So sad your trip report is coming to an end. But! I'm looking forward to your new PTR!!!!!:cool1:

I have one more day to finish up on my tr. We like to leave later in the day, just so we can get in one more day of magic before we head back to the grindstone.

I will also be starting a new ptr and will probably have some changes to my ticker when I do.

I love your stockings - love the colors and the fabrics you chose. I think having matching stockings for the entire family is a wonderful tradition to have.

My Christmas collections include snowmen and nativity sets. I even have one snowman nativity set!

This is the first time I have read any trips reports since I starting on the DIS. I have to say I picked a good one and can't wait for your next trip report. It was enjoyable to follow along. Thanks for taking the time to post this.:yay:
