Any questions about Aulani? :)

We are planning our first trip to Aulani in June. I would like to know if there is an adequate number of umbrellas/beach chairs on the beach? Do I need to "secure" my spot first thing in the morning? Went to Jamaica last year and found all of the best chairs with umbrellas and tables were gone first thing in the am by either early risers or the butlers for people staying in butler suites. Thank you!

Do you know how big the new pool is going to be? Any more talk about weather the new pool will be ready by end september? :)

There are a bunch of beach chairs that they just added near the 'Ama 'Ama restaurant. :) I rarely go to the beach area but the last time I was there was TONS of room in that new area :)

No sorry there has been no recent updates on the pool. :( The new area is going to be pretty big because its where the old lawn used to be :)

Thanks so much for your info. I have another question for you since we will be arriving in a month. This time about pillows for the kids. How are the pillows. My kids like , and are used to very thin pillows. Should we bring our own, are there kids pillows or are the usual ones thick or thin?. Ta

Not thin pillows. They're pretty fluffy... They're very comfy though :) if they're used to flat pillows, however, then you might want to brig your own :)

UPDATE!! My work schedule had me go near the pool today so I had a look at the construction... They are making GREAT progress! I even saw water in the pool today so hopefully that means its almost done :) I didn't get a really good look at it but I know the kiddie area is pretty much done :)

YAY that is fantastic news. Fingers crossed for it being ready for first week october. Thank you for all your advice.
I was actually just looking at resturant bookings. I notice you can book the Makahiki restaurant for breakfast and dinner. But can you book for lunch or do you just show up?

We'll be there for 8 nights the end of October into November. We want to see Pearl Harbor and other "must see" areas. What would you suggest for 2 adults with a car? Does Aulani offer excursions? Is the Go Oahu card worth it?

Also contemplating a hop over to Maui for the day, but the inter-island flights aren't cheap!

Can you confirm that parking is free for DVC members staying on points? And are there any other DVC perks there that we should know about, eg. Dining or merchandise discounts?

Thanks!

I am also asking about excursions from Aulani. We are planning a July 2014 trip with 12 people. We will be staying 10 days then heading to Disneyland to prevent too much jet lag...(LOL). Would love to do a beach where we can watch and maybe learn to surf, I hear Pearl Harbor is amazing and the pineapple plantation. Other suggestions.. also a company that does the Helicopter tours over the volcano....

What luau do you suggest?

Thank you
Tracy

We were in Aulani for about a week in October of 2012. We had a Go Oahu card and it worked well for us. We LOVED Aulani despite the fact that at that time, dining options were somewhat limited. However, this is the first vacation we've had where we had to fight traffic so consistently. (And we're from Chicago so we're used to traffic.) To be safe, if you have a tour at a specific time in Oahu allow AT LEAST 1 1/2 hours to get there, as some of the other posters have suggested.

A few questions -
How long does it take to drive to waikiki?
Do you recommend dining reservations?
Is there anything special or that you would recommend for honeymooners?
Favourite restaurant there?
Also, how is the Kualoa Ranch experience?

Any feedback would be great!

Thank you

A few questions -
How long does it take to drive to waikiki? About 40 minutes give or take. Avoid rush hour if you can as gets very busy on the H1/H2 and well any other major artery.
Do you recommend dining reservations? Depends on what restaurant you intend to go to?
Is there anything special or that you would recommend for honeymooners? Again this depends on what your likes/dislikes are. With a bit of background I am certain we can come up with ideas :)

Just answered a couple of questions, not all.

What time is rush hour usually?

Which restaurants are the best do you think?
I think we'd definitely like to go to AMA AMA

Umm what do we like? ... Good food, fun, Disney, fiancé loves extreme sports ?

Our holidays our usually jam packed so I'm kind of looking forward to relaxing a bit!

Yes those were our questions too.

Haven't heard about the free parking for DVCers staying on points. Like the OPs we would like confirmation on this and also any other perks of DVC there. Thanks in advance.:cool1:
