From 8 to 80!Seeing the Magic through a new set of eyes-Updated7/15-NEW TR LINK pg 28

Whoo-hoo!!! So excited for you!!!

Ok, stupid question of the day... Why haven't you moved to Orlando??? I know you're from Canada, but that hasn't stopped anyone else from moving here and getting a job... Auditions will be easier to attend and you can see Prince Naveen on a daily basis... Bonus!!! :thumbsup2

OMG!!!!!!!!!! Disney again!!!!!! How awesome! :mickeyjum Eep, i wish I was going to. I love this time of year. i just had a 3 day weekend and i was hoping to try and go but when i looked at flights they were ridiculously expensive since it was columbus day weekend. Boo  My hope is that i end up with a couple of days off in a row in December because i would love to take a quick trip and see christmas again. The woes of working retail is no vacation time in December, but there's always hope the stars will align and give me 2 days off in a row. Crossing fingers pixiedust:

Oh my gosh! Are you done dying yet? It's obviously awesome that you are going again but even more so that you have two parties to attend! :yay:

That's great that you didn't have to torment yourself long in deciding if you should go - it's meant to be. And a SUITE!!! Even more amazingness!

The good news about last minute bookings is you don't have long to wait. :goodvibes I know you will have a ton of fun and I look forward to hearing about it.

How awesome to have another trip so soon! What a great time you two will have! So happy for you, and look forward to hearing about it!

That is SO exciting you get to go again, and to get to go so quickly!!! It sounds like it's going to be a jam-packed, amazing trip :thumbsup2 And an AoA suite will be amazing!

Haha I definitely feel you on the non-Disney folk, I'm trying not to tell too many people we're going for Thanksgiving because one of the few people I told was like, "Didn't you just go in August? Why are you going again?" SIGH. Oh well. We have to do what makes us happy! So YOU GO TO DISNEY! :woohoo:

It's unbelievably amazing and I'm so excited!! It's a lot in a short period of time, but we know we're going for specifically halloween so that's what we'l focus on!!

Haha yeah, I got it a lot when I had an AP, or solo trips, and I've definitely stopped mentioning when I'm auditioning, people always kinda assume my trips are for auditions now a days, which is okay I guess, but I don't like answering audition questions when they're not amazing answers lol!

I'm in...i read a lot...don't know if I ever commented on your TRs though

Yay!! Glad you came to comment!! Hope you enjoy this one!!

Another Halloween trip!?!? How exciting!!! I'm insanely jealous, I hope you guys have the best time!

Ahaha, yeah, I don't quite know how I'm managing to pull it off, but I know I won't be back for quite a while unless it's auditions, and those are quick!! It'll be great!!

Oh my gosh, I can't believe I'm missing you by ONE day!!! So excited you get to go back for the party again. :cool1: I'm kind of wishing I had booked two parties but I don't think Jim would have liked going twice.

Also can't believe you aren't going to Epcot at all for Food & Wine?

You got the same Magic Band I did! I was playing with mine this weekend to see how it felt on. Kind of weird as I normally wear my watch on my left wrist but since all of the MB readers are on the left I'm going to have to switch my watch to my right arm.

SO CLOSE!! I wish we could have done a longer one but the price just wasn't working!

Ahahaa, it helps that we just dont have time, and Paige is still under age in the states, so I wouldn't want to drag her around lol.

Yay!! I don't think ours are getting shipped as we booked so close to going, but I could be wrong? I haven't gotten ME mail so I dunno? :confused3

I'm not gonna lie-- I'm 100000% insanely jealous right now! But, I will live vicariously through you so please take 1000 pictures and have an AMAZING time!

 Heh heh, I'll instagram a TON, okay?! I will definitely take pics for you and pretend like you're there!!

Eagle eye :magnify: Thankfully I wasn't the only one (but of course I noticed on the other TR).

So like, you couldn't get inspired for an impromptu MVMCP trip??? :p

Seriously, this is really amazing, and OBVIOUSLY, there will be no eye rolling or "What you're going again?" here. Just jealousy, LOL.

You're really packing in a TON in just a few days too, but sleeping can be done when you're home.

EXCITING!!! :hyper:

Lol, whatevs, I put the ticker up for a reason, right?!!

Ahaha, probably not, MVMCP just doesn't do a lot for me, plus I want to hit up that and Osbourne lights next year. I doubt it, unless I'm in the area for an audition I'm not back for a vacation til MAY! LOL.

NO SLEEPIN IN DISNEY

Awwww...we're leaving on 10/27 when you are arriving. It's always great to meet fellow DISers! Hope you have a great time. I'll try and leave some of the F&W for you!

AH! SO CLOSE!! I'm missing a couple other people by a few hours/days too!! I love dismeets, so fun!! Awe! Thanks, unfortunately I wont make it to Food and wine til next year1!

Wow! That's a lot of MNSSHP! Too fun!!! :cool1:

Lol, it'll be AWESOME!! Seriously, if I lived in the area, I would be at every halloween party possible!!

THAT IS FREAKING AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Have so much fun! This is just so magical!

Ahahaha, thank you!!!! Also I'm SO GLAD you're here to read along!!! AHHH!!:dance3::yay: I'm super excited!! I'll be sure to tell Ariel the girl's say hi (unless of course there's someone else they love more now lol]

Whoo-hoo!!! So excited for you!!!

Yay thank you!!!

Ahaha, I would be down there in a second if I could easily get a visa/green card. The whole situation seems trick and difficult, I am keeping watch on jobs in Disney that aren't entertainment so I can work down there and just go to all the auditions lol. I can't do the Epcot Canada program if I wanted to do auditions because it would "violate" the visa that they give you for that program, same with the international college program, plus I'm not in college lol.

SO, I wish I could, I'mma try, and we'll just have to see lol.

Ahahahha, yeah, it's pretty excited!! Awe, so close!! I hope that you get down again thsi year!! Christmas is awesome!

Uhmmm...I will never be done dying, I will be dying until we are there, and then dying because we are there, and then sad dying because we have left...popcorn::

Ahaha, yeah, I feel like it's just meant to be, I've got a great feeling about all of this and I'm so pumped!!!

How awesome to have another trip so soon! What a great time you two will have! So happy for you, and look forward to hearing about it!

I'm so pumped!! I'll be sure to say hi to some princesses for Maddie!! And Wendy will get another wear for sure!! Lol! Your work will be showed off again!

Wake up!! Wake up!! Wake up!! It’s time to GOOOOOOOOOOOO……

But seriously, my alarm was going off bright and early around 3:00 in the morning and I was quickly getting ready and calling a cab to head to the airport. Around the same time, Mom and Anne were 3 hours North of me in my hometown doing the same thing! I had a little moment, okay, huge moment, of panicking right before going to sleep when I realized that the outer layer of my suitcase fabric was ripped! Now wanting to risk it, I quickly attempted to jam all of my belongings into my much smaller suitcase and carry on back pack, somehow, it had managed to work. However I knew I wouldn’t have enough space coming home, at least I had an excuse to buy more Disney things!

Once at the airport I breezed through check in pretty quick, and had to actually wait for Customs to open I was there so early! Had no problems whatsoever and eventually found myself at the gate for my flight. I did stop and get a breakfast sandwich from Jugo Juice, and new I’d snack more on the layover, and then have the beloved and so delicious DISNEY NOMS that evening!!

The first flight went over painlessly, I took some melatonin to help me sleep to try and catch up, as we all know, there’s NO SLEEPIN IN DISNEY!! We stopped over in Denver (I do believe) where I’ve stopped over plenty of times on the way to Disney, so I KNEW there was a Wolfgang Puck Express SOMEWHERE around in the airport, and after checking the map, realized it said NOTHING about it. LIES! I know you’re around here somewhere my love!! Memories of past layovers were coming back to me as I neared an escalator and quickly jutted up it to FIND MY FAVSIES! Yay!! We don’t have WPE anywhere near my hometown, so it’s a special necessity on vacations, and of course, I got my four cheese pesto pizza to nom down on!

I continued my way down to the gate, where I was to meet up with Anne and Mom after they arrived from their flight, I checked around and didn’t see them, so I settled in to chow down on lunch! The pizza is amazing of course, it’ll always be my first choice of food, and if you’re ever at WPE, I highly suggest trying it! After a little bit of waiting, and me making a bathroom break and wandering back to the gate, I started to get a little worried. This was showing memories of last September when Mom and I ended up delayed 3 hours before our first flight and missed the connection and it was just a HUGE conundrum on SUCK, I did NOT want it to happen again. I tried to connect with Mom on facebook, but she clearly hadn’t pulled out her tablet, and the internet wasn’t being too cooperative either.

Nearly freaking out I approached the check in desk and asked if their flight had landed, or if something was wrong, and it turned out they had indeed landed, so I knew that they had to be SOMEWHERE in the airport, right?! The plane was boarding group 5 by the time Mom and Anne eventually showed up, and I couldn’t have been happier to see them!

We chatted a little bit while we boarded and got seated and all and Mom stated that they hadn’t eaten since nearly 3 in the morning before the first flight took off, and lucky for them, I couldn’t eat all the WPE pizza, so I gave it to them as United doesn’t give out snacks on their planes, boourns.

The flight was fine, I listened to a bunch of Disney parks music, and actually paid for and attempted to watch some TV/movies but the speakers were so distorted that it hurt my ears, and I was super glad when we were landing sooner rather than later! I had made the last minute decision to actually pick up my luggage myself again, I just couldn’t trust another set of hands that might lose it handling it, lol. And we made our way off to the Magical Express!

The bus was waiting for us and I believe we waited for just one more family once we were on and then we were off on a grand adventure that I nearly cried for cause, let’s be serious, the movie is too emotional sometimes! Ahaha!

Then came our stop, Port Orleans French Quarter! It was my first time staying here, and I was INSANELY excited about it as it looked totally awesome, I also found out that Anne has been to the real New Orleans, so we could compare! When we pulled up I was already loving it, and upon arriving in the lobby I was definitely loving it! The main area is like a Value/Deluxe resort, where the lobby, foodcourt, bar, and bus stops, are all in one area, which is different than most of the moderates!

Check in was super quick and easy as I had done online check in, I got both Mom and Anne birthday buttons, and we were off around the corner to our room! I’m not kidding, I had requested “close to transportation” and we were right around the corner, in building 3, the closest to the main building! I was super happy and impressed that we were right there, and the buildings were super cute. We wandered around for a bit searching for the elevator, as we were on the second floor, and quickly found our room!

The bedspreads were super pretty, I absolutely loved the purple and gold together, it really had a sense of regalness to it! Our window was nice and big, and while Anne and Mom unpacked into the drawers, I chose to unpack my outfits on the little ledge in front of the window!

After quickly freshening up in the adorable little vanity space, which I happily noted had a curtain for those mornings/nights that I was up earlier/later than the others, we got our stuff together to head out!

With smiles and happiness galore, we skipped on down to the bus stop, and ended up over at the Magic Kingdom! I seriously cannot tell you how happy I was to officially be back in my favorite most magical place! Just arriving in Florida is awesome enough, to feel the humidity and smell it in the air is one thing, but to be hearing the Disney transportation speech and headed off to a beautiful resort, is just perfect! Tonight’s plans involved a little bit of resort hopping since I needed to exchange the voucher I had for the actual photopass plus card, and our first stop, was the Grand Floridian!

I’m pretty sure I heard “wow’s” come from both Anne and Mom as we entered onto that second level, I mean, it’s absolutely gorgeous in there, it’s hands down the “prettiest” resort. I will definitely stay there some day! I hope that it can be the “wedding resort” for me, but let’s be serious, that’s a long way away from now, bahaha!

Like, just look at that! IT’S AMAZING! We stopped right there and listened to the band play for a bit while people watching and just soaking it all in, we definitely could have stayed there all night!

UGH! I then headed over to the photopass desk and the exchange was super easy, and the cast member gave me a little run down on it to make sure I was all good with what I had to do, and gave me a little FAQ card just in case! Anne, Mom and I explored down stairs a little bit, hitting up the shops down there, they’ve got some nice stuff, instead of the classic merch down there so it was nice to see. After a peek in Basin White, since I needed more toner, (although they appeared to not have any toner/face wash in the White location) we jumped back on my beloved monorail and did the loop over to the Contemporary!

I liked the idea of Chef Mickey’s on the first night to you know, check in the with Boss man and make sure he knew we were there and ready for a week of awesome magic! I also had been talking to Brian, a friend I made through tumblr/twitter, and since his birthday was the 10th, and we arrived on the 11th, that he would join us for dinner that night to celebrate!!

We checked in at the podium, where they sent us right away over to the plate to get the picture with no waiting at all!!

First experience using the PP plus, great, I mean, they scan the card, and you’re golden! We grabbed a seat in the waiting area and hoped that it wouldn’t be too long til we were seated, or til Brian showed up! Luckily, neither took very long, about 10 minutes and we were sitting over on the left hand side of the buffet, right by the kitchen door, and told our server would be around in just a moment for us! The greeter did suggest waiting for Donald, and then getting food as he would be coming around momentarily!

I of course jumped up to get a photo with my “number 1!” of the fab 5 gang, and he quickly took one seated pic with Anne and Brian and then was gone, kinda disappointing for our first character interaction of the trip, but hey, it could be worse, and it meant that it was TIME FOR FOOOOOODDD.

Guys, I don’t think you seriously understand how much I was looking forward to this, Disney food, after months of waiting, and I had heard this was a carb heaven, and was SO EXCITED! My first plates were:

A small piece of cornbread, and some Mickeroni and Cheese with some ketchup on top, and of course:

Starting at the top and going clockwise, I grabbed some broccoli with some cheese sauce, as you’ve got to at least pretend to be healthy on vacation, right? Lol, followed by Mickey shaped ravioli, ribs, tortellini, mashed potatoes, and some prime rib with horseradish.

Mom’s plate involved:

Cornbread, chicken, green beans, tortellini, carrots, and some prime rib. Brian was up next with:

Cornbread, roast chicken, ribs, mashed potatoes, and it’s lookin like some chicken at the end there, lol. Lastly was Anne who picked up a plate of:

Cornbread, it looks like some end cuts of prime rib, sushi, chicken nuggets, and some rice, and I can kinda see some salad looking things hiding underneath there! Haha!

We were all super hungry so it was absolutely amazing to have such a wide variety of food in front of us now, and it was YUMMY! Seriously, I had heard some bad things, and some good things about the food here, but in the end, it was a winner for us! The hits included: the Mickeroni, mashed potatoes, sushi, the peel and eat shrimp, and the roast beef. I cannot rave about the Mickeroni enough, like, best mac and cheese I have had in ages! NOM!

Needless to say, if you haven’t tried Chef Mickey’s for dinner, I suggest it!

Compared to the food however, the character interaction was not the greatest tonight, while we were eating, Mickey came by super quick, waved at everyone and then disappeared, not even stopping for a picture…oh well… His counterpart was around soon enough, and I was excited as my outfit for tonight was inspired by her, although my Minnie ears were in my bag still…derp..

It was a little disappointing though, as you can see, since Anne and Mom didn’t jump up for pictures right away, Minnie was off to the next table. We had luckily, been right on the time that the characters were all going in for a break, which meant it was time for DESSERT!!

I’ve got some Mickey domes, pretty much just an oreo with some chocolate mousse on it, but it was super delicious, and then a chocolate chip cookie, and some bread pudding, which was the best part hands down! While we were waiting for our server to come back around, either with drink refills, or the bill, either would have been nice, Goofy stopped by for a quick visit!

Mom made sure to get in for that picture though, Goofy’s her favorite! When they had all come out from their breaks, Mickey did come around, and waved at the table of us, made a heart with his hands, and blew us all kisses, so it was nice to know he hadn’t completely snubbed us that night! Our server eventually made her way back with some special surprises for us too!

BIRTHDAY CUPCAKES!!

Yum! It was a lovely little treat to end off our meal at Chef Mickey’s and to celebrate the birthdays of course! Pluto came around for a quick hello as well!

I’m started to think that more of these character pictures might be on Brian’s camera, but I’m really not sure, haha. I do know that just over the course of the night the characters didn’t seem too into it, and would skip half the table. I do understand that we’re all adults, and that half the table may have not been into the whole character thing, but at least stop to say hello, don’t just run to the kids next door. Disney is for children of all ages, and I hoped this wasn’t a sign of what was to come for the trip.

Not so hidden Mickey!! Donald did come around one more time to say hello to Brian and give him a quick hug, so that was nice!

While we were waiting for everything to finish up, and finish our birthday cupcakes, we started kinda chatting with the family next to us who had two small kids, and the boy noted one of the ladie’s birthday buttons, and said happy birthday to her. Well, the other then pointed out that it was both of their birthdays, and the boy responded with “You’re Ann…and you’re Anne…and it’s both your birthdays….you’re both Anne because you’re OOOOOOLLLLLDDDDD” #priceless. I promptly dubbed it “quote of the day” and wrote it down in my trip journal! When it came time to leave, the little boy jumped up and gave Anne a hug goodbye as well, which was beyond adorable!

The server finally appeared with the bill, which we had to promptly wave her down so she could change it. See, we had the dining plan, and Brian wasn’t part of that, and had his CM discount to add on, so we had to separate off his meal, then send back the bill with a credit card for the beers Mom and Anne had gotten and the DDP card! Needless to say, it took a while to get done with, but hey, I’ve come to expect that from Disney buffet places! How did it score overall though?

Food: 5/5
Food was all hot, fresh, and delicious, with lots of variety of dishes, meat, veggies, carbs and something for everyone

Ambiance:3/5
It was kidna crowded in there, and we were DIRECTLY beside the kitchen door, so it was a pain in the butt. I also scored a little lower because the character interaction was so bad, I’ve never had it this bad in a dining location, but hey, there’s a first time for everything. The napkin twirling was fun though!

Service: 2/5
Yup. She didn’t come around a lot, at all, and when my lemonade was finished I couldn’t find her to grab a water, and from the time we’d seen all the characters and were ready for the bill, it took FOREVER to get everything sorted out and get out of there.

Overall: 4/5
Would I return, YES! I honestly would, because every experience service/character wise is very different, and the food was seriously that good!

Cost: $41.95 each for the dinner buffet
$6.95 each for the Coronas (That’s strictly a guess lol)

In total we paid $14.00 for a bill that would have cost us $139.85

DINING PLAN WIN.

And yes, I will be doing little summaries like this for all our sit down meals, and I will attempt to do it for the CS meals as well, but no guarantees! On the way out of the restaurant a few of us definitely grabbed bananas from the buffet to eat for breakfast the next morning, and we headed out. Since we had some exploring time, we took the time to head into the gift shops and explore around, there’s SO MUCH cool stuff in there. Then, I found it, the ultimate gift for Paige, something that would make her DIE when she saw it, something we had discovered back in Feb and for some ABSURD reason, not bought…

Check it out…

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdgdKbHfG3I

YUP! Found that little gem hiding in the gift shop! I RAN over to them when I saw them and tried out like, 6 before I found one that wasn’t worn out and proceeded to laugh hysterically thanks to the hilarity of it, and the level of food drunk I probably was by that point! Brian probably thought I was a complete derp, but hey, that’s a pretty true statement. Needless to say, I bought it, and Paige absolutely loved it when I gave it to her! I also found a “character spot” pin on the board in the shop and traded for it!

Best present ever found and paid for, we said good bye to Brian, as he would *hopefully* be coming to MNSSHP with me in a few days, originally he had managed to trade away the shift, but then once people caught wind of the Villains Bash, he ended up stuck with it, but was still trying to get out of it, we’d have to wait and see. He headed off to the college program bus as the rest of us headed back over to Magic Kingdom to get in the bus line for French Quarter. A lovely treat to end the evening was that from the line, we could see parts of Wishes going off! Yay! The last lovely treat to end off the evening, was that we found this surprise when we got back to the room:

Mickey and Minnie had heard it was Anne and Mom’s birthdays, and decided to stop by with a lovely bouquet of balloons and a plush of each. There was also a little message on the phone from the two mice singing happy birthday! SUPER ADORBS. Obviously, these were courtesy of me, and the Disney florist/greeting baskets stuff, haha!

The birthday girls were still super happy and thankful of their surprise gift, and I told them that that was really just the start, especially if they continued to wear their buttons for the rest of the week! Then, it was time for bed, we had quite the early morning the next day!!

Ups of the Day:
-Arriving!
-Great food
-Disney magic!

Downs of the Day:
-Not so great character interaction

Food of the Day:
-Bread pudding
-Mickeroni and Cheese both from Chef Mickey’s buffet!

First of all let me say how JEALOUS I am that your going next week!!! You and Paige are going to have a BLAST!!! I'm feeling the pull of my AP trying to figure out when to go back down. :lmao:

Great update! Chef Mickey's looks so fun! Loved the gifts in the room, It's always fun to celebrate with Mickey. Can't wait for the next update

YAY, we're off! Glad the cd finally arrived. I was starting to think you did another trip JUST to be able to post something while waiting for it to come.

Oh God I remember you posting about that suitcase that day.

I had no idea you were all meeting up at the connecting city. For some reason I thought you wouldn't see each other until MCO. Pretty cool, though a little stressful there for a bit.

Glad your first Disney meal was good despite some of the character flaws.

Bahahaha, farting Perry!!! Before even clicking the link I knew that's what it was.

Aww how sweet of you to get that bouquet and flowers. Just awesome!

On a somewhat related note, if you choose to add the upcoming trip onto the end of this one, it will be ear-ily (pun intended) similar to the just completed last September TR that started with you and your Mom and ended with you and Paige.

Yay thank you!!!

Ahaha, I would be down there in a second if I could easily get a visa/green card. SO, I wish I could, I'mma try, and we'll just have to see lol.

Ok, that explains it... Never thought about violating the visa rules... Yeah, don't want to do that!!! :rotfl2:

Great start to the first day... The pizza looks yummy!!! And does Chef Mickey's for dinner... We've done breakfast, but never dinner...

Love the balloons & stuffed animals you got the birthday girls... :thumbsup2

Thanks!! CMs was a ton of fun, even if the characters weren't great, it was delicious!

Aahahaha, yah. Well at least I could have done the very first update with no cd, but it's all good!

I just really like flying into MCO together, especially on Anne's first trip, and Mom would probably have a ton of problems navigating the airport, bahahaha.

heh heh heh yeah, farting perry...Paige's reaction was pretty priceless!

Ha! So true!!

It was delicious!! I prefer to do lunch or dinner at those character meals, I prefer the food lol!

Joining!!!
!
Hi!! welcome, glad you're here

Love the rooms at Port Orleans! You're right, that purple and gold combo really works well.

We loved visiting GF, too. Such a nice place!

Chef Mickey's--You had pretty much the same experience we had last year...great food, meh characters, missing waitress. I still think we'll go back, though, because I just love those mashed potatoes:lmao:!!

So fun to meet friends in real life that you've only met online;)!

What a GREAT start to your trip! The resort looks beautiful.

The GF is so gorgeous. :lovestruc I love that it is so easy to turn in the PP+ voucher and get the card. However, I continue to wonder why they can't just send the card in the first place! :confused3

And it sounds like your food experience at CM was great, even the characters were a little less than stellar.

Awww - love the birthday surprise. pixiedust:

Following along! Awesome TR so far! :thumbsup2
That was such a cute idea getting the balloons, etc in the room for the birthday girls! I can't get over her being 80!! She looks way younger!!
Love POFQ!!
Have soooo much fun in a few days!!!!

They really are regal looking and I absolutely LOVED it at French Quarter, it's definitely a moderate that I would return to many times!

Aw man, Love the GF, i managed to actually watch the Disney Full House episode before this trip so it was hilarious to think of it while running through the resort!

Yeah, that tends to happen at disney buffets, service isn't the greatest! I would definitely go back for the food though, it was AWESOME!

I know right?! Lol, Disney friends are the best, they just *get* you! Lol

Awww - love the birthday surprise. pixiedust:

Thanks!! It was great!! I think they only do that with the voucher so that they can stamp the card? I dunno.

It was great!

Following along! Awesome TR so far! :thumbsup2
That was such a cute idea getting the balloons, etc in the room for the birthday girls! I can't get over her being 80!! She looks way younger!!
