Brenda, what better way is there to waking up and seeing all those pictures of a Boma's breakfast. Sure beats the Cheerio's, almond milk and banana sitting in front of me right now.

I hear ya Bob! But at least you are eating healthy! I can't imagine if I ate like Boma every day!

One note about breakfast on vacation since I think you completely understand...I feel guilt eating donuts at home so when I'm on vacation I'm in a different place mentally where I'm "allowed" to eat that way. I would horrify myself if I ate this way every day. Just can't do it knowing where I was 5 years ago. But at WDW....it's vacation eating. (Not to say that I like the fact that I return home with 4-5 extra pounds (or more) but it is what it is and I don't allow myself to go beyond that.)

Seriously, I am now rethinking my decision to cancel Boma and make an ADR at WCC. I love that jungle juice so much I can almost taste it. And the food...oh, just bring me six plates right now, please.

But I am NOT going to change back. We will just do Boma in August/September. I'm looking forward to trying WCC at your recommendation. I hope they have Mickey waffles though.

And thank you for saying you'd make cookies and deliver them if I lived closer. You are a GREAT Dis friend.

Nooooo! Stick with WCC! They do have Mickey waffles. (At the CS place as well.) Yes, keep Boma for next summer.

I've never tried breakfast at Boma, but I've always been tempted by the description and pictures of the items available. If we ever stay at AKL, that will be on my must-try list.

Wow, you and Em were seated at the exact same table that my sister and I had when we went to Boma for dinner two years ago, LOL. It felt a little like being tucked away in a secret room ... or being sent to the corner for a time out. I never did decide which was more likely.

I couldn't agree with you more when it comes to goat cheese! Old musty books is the perfect description as far as I'm concerned. I know many people love it, but I'm definitely not a fan. And why, oh why does it have to pop up in everything lately?? We saw a goat cheesecake offered at one of the restaurants we visited last week. The last thing I want is a goat-y dessert, yuk!

Definitely Boma breakfast is a great option. I was glad wanted to eat there. Yeah, it felt like we were in time out.

It's funny that I'm not into goat cheese now when a few years ago I loved in on the WPE 4 cheese pizza and some other Disney dishes. Oh well, tastes change I guess. Ugh! Keep that goat-cheese cheesecake away from me.

That reminds me of one of my employees who I asked about cajeta (since she is Hispanic perhaps she could educate me about cajeta and how it is used in cuisine) and she thought I liked it so she bought me 2 bottles of Cajeta caramel sauce. Uhhh thanks.

I'll have you know that I gave Mark four options of resorts for our trip next August/September and the Villas at WL was on the list. Of course, I prayed he would say no to two of the and he did.

You don't need a man card held firmly in your grasp just because you can cook and bake. I know many men who can.

Brenda, so I don't hijack this thread any further; I love this TR and have just about read all your previous reports via your links; I have no idea what took me so long. I hope that someday our paths will cross in WDW.

Ha ha Bob! Your man card will not be revoked anytime soon. I would have questioned you if you knew the handbag designers that the ladies discussed earlier or if you DVR every Real Housewives show. (You probably relate to the scene in Sleepless in Seattle where the guys are mocking the women for being emotional over chick flicks.)

Yes, I know!! I'm hoping for maybe trying it on the last day of our March trip IF we can 1-get a ressie and 2- figure out the transportation of our trip!

YES! We have tried H&V for breakfast and I was pleasantly surprised with it. Nothing unique or special, but a very good selection of breakfast foods- they have a strawberry syrup for their pancakes/waffles that is really yummy!

I've seen a lot of walk ups for Boma Christen. It is a bit farther and it's not like you can take a boat or monorail there.

I'm glad you gave feedback for H&V. It's the one place that I wonder if we'd not enjoy because we don't know the characters. I suppose I could start watching Playhouse Disney and get up to speed!

Your omelette looks really good! I am also not a fan of goat cheese.

You can't go wrong with made to order omelets. Just leave the goat cheese out.

Boma is another reason for given AKL a chance at a stay!! I'd love to try it! Maybe even giving up a signature dinner to do so then!

Hmmm... tough decisions there Paula! I'd give up HBD for Boma! But you already knew that!

As a result it is usually my sister and I taking all the kids (no husbands allowed). This time DH will be there with me and the boys (3 and 7) and I am planning a more "low-key" trip. After seeing your post I am adding Yak and Yeti as my AK dining spot. Seems to be a good place to feel a bit removed from the crowds (and a place for a yummy drink!).

Day 5: Tues. August 20th - San Angel Inn Lunch

This was another new restaurant for us. Having been ditched last trip in favor of Marrakesh, I was eager to see if we would side with the negative reviews or the fans of this place.

We checked in with a quick hello to Kathy (Katmark) and her husband who were trying on sombreros in the Mexico pavilion. (Actually, she was nice enough to come from the other side of WS to say hi to us!)

We were seated at a lovely 2 top table next to the rail by the water. The tables had beautiful blue and white charger plates and small lamps that afforded the only light source for the table. Although this was a dark restaurant similar to Blue Bayou at Disneyland, it was very fitting.

Our server was Laura and she was very sweet and adorable. We were started with our drinks but noticeably absent were any chips and salsa to munch on.

Em chose the Tacos de Carne (beef tacos) while I went with two appetizers; the Tostadas de Tinga (chicken toastada) and the Coctel de Camaron (shrimp cocktail.)

The food arrived before the chips and salsa. Actually, the chips and salsa wouldn’t have arrived if I hadn’t asked the food server guy if he could please bring some. A small oversight I’m sure. They ended up being the same as they serve at La Hacienda with the red (smoky) salsa and the green salsa. I prefer the green to the red.

Tacos de Carne: Aged New York strip on flour tortillas topped with chipotle pepper sauce, scallions, and avocado served with rice and black beans ($21.00)​

Em really liked her selection. The tacos had an abundance of beef and the chunky avocado was very nice. This wasn’t too spicy according to Em.

Tostadas de Tinga: Pulled chicken seasoned with tomato and chipotle served on tostadas with black refried beans, green tomatillo sauce, queso fresco and sour cream ($10.50)

Coctel de Camaron: Acapulco style shrimp cocktail served with spicy marinated tomato sauce; fried flour chicharrons, avocado and lime ($12.50)

As for my choices, let’s start with the tostadas. There were three small tostadas piled with chicken and slathered in the avocado sauce and queso fresco, they were delicious. Of all the appetizers from the Mexico restaurants that I ordered this trip, this was my favorite.

The shrimp cocktail was a different story. It just wasn’t what I expected since it was too soupy and not spicy – at all. Perhaps that is the way that it is supposed to be served. However, on a positive note, it had plenty of little shrimps that may be hard to see in my photos. I tried a few of the chicharrons out of curiosity but they tasted rather like stale packing peanuts with a splash of tabasco.

Laura was kind enough to offer to take our photo. However, I had the camera on a manual setting so the flash didn’t go off. The photos are too dark.

So what did we think of this place that gets mixed reviews? I may not have loved it but I really liked it enough to want to return. I’m cautiously optimistic since we had a friendly server, the food was good, we had a lovely table (completely chance on that one) and I loved the theming. Other than having to ask for the chips/salsa, everything else met or exceeded my expectations.

Using our TiW card, we saved $9.40.

I haven't tried the tortilla soup so I'm not sure. The live dining threads may have some reviews that include the soup. I'm interested to see what it is like as well. Perhaps I need to do some homework.

Hi Jo! Well good news for you... if you like shrimp, that shrimp cocktail was not spicy. The tostadas weren't either. The kitchen may be able to work with you on milder versions of some things.

Do you eat chips and salsa?? I suppose it is something that you have to like to want to try. You won't get me to eat sushi so you won't see me at the sushi place in Japan.

I just added a Tusker House ADR earlier this week. I didn't do any character meals on my last trip and wanted to remedy that. The huge selection of food looks amazing. AK has morning EMH on the day I'm going, so this works out perfectly in that I won't have to worry about grabbing breakfast at the resort before heading out.

I had to google "Bobotie" and "mealie pap". LOL. The name of the latter just does not sound appetizing so I had to know what it was!

Since SAI has mixed reviews (at best) I'd stick with what you like. The taco trio appetizer at La Hacienda was just as good as the entrée at SAI so you aren't missing anything.

As long as we have anyone other than your server, I think we'd have a better experience.

You definitely won't leave TH hungry or lacking for choices. Great idea to hit it up during EMH!

I still don't know what mealie pap is. It does scare me a little. If you try it you'll have to let me know what you think.

Dismeet Intermission Time Again....

This weekend I had the pleasure of meeting up with Diser Vettegirl (Lori) at Disneyland/California Adventure. I was excited to see that she had booked a last minute trip and contacted me to see if we were available to meet up. YES, we were!

This worked out well since our APs expired last week so we had to renew anyway. I can now justify at least one or two more Dis trips next year since the urge to book another Disney trip immediately set in once we had those in our hands.

Once we had our new APs we were off to DCA.

Refreshments were in order so we headed to the Cove Bar at Paradise Pier:

A Skinny Mojito for Lori, Em got a lemonade with wild berry foam, and I ordered a Pina Colava!
