Our little thread of BIG Resort changes*OLD THREAD link on last pg. to new thread!

To my military friends - so glad the government is back open today!!!

I'll be back to catch up later, but I had to drop in and announce that I was finally able to ch..ch...change!

I saw a YC-SV pop up with an AP rate for all 4 nights and voila! Buh-bye GF SL!!!! I just couldn't fall in love with that ressie so I'm so glad to be free of it. Only you gals would understand that feeling. :rolleyes: I don't know what I was thinking when I booked that :confused3

I am so excited to be on Crescent Lake for F&W :cool1::cool1::cool1: One week from tomorrow and I will be there! :yay:
That will be so perfect for F&W! I highly recommend popping over to EPCOT for the orange dole whip with crème de cacao (sp?) and the shrimp taco!

I dunno ladies....I'm wanting this one pretty bad....:goodvibes

Yaaaay! ~~=====================~~

So, I had a temporary panic... like total. flippin'. freak-out. I went and logged on the look at tickets for the party because I still haven't bought them. (Didn't want to spend the extra dosh until the furlough thing hopefully ends.) Looked at the MNSSHP calendar with ticket pricing and it has the WRONG DATES ... 28th instead of 29th like I planned ... AND it was SOLD OUT! :eek: :faint:

... and then I realised it was the Disneyland site. :rolleyes1 :laughing:
This is totally me right here! LOL
Yeah, I'm having trouble loving AKL. I love the animals and the pool/splash area (especially since we have the wee one), but I am not a fan of African cuisine and since we plan on midday breaks, it will be easier to be closer to stuff. Maybe when the littlest is older we can visit the savannah! For now, I feel settled on WL and am happy with the location and food options!

:wave2: HELLO!

It's so funny you downloaded the music! I have the Disney Parks album the 'Happiest Celebration on Earth' (2005) on our iPod. It drives DH CRAZY when I decide to listen to it because it messes with the 'random' setting on shuffle. Usually, we get a blend of the most listened to songs/artists... then ever so often we'll hear "Ahhh, my siestas are getting shorter and shorter" or "One little spark of inspiration..." DD loves the album so he's forced to suffer through, even when I'm not there!!! :rotfl:

Congrats but I am SO JEALOUS! If I can find a SV at YC for military rate, I might have to jump on it! We LOVED YC and would book again in a heartbeat. They only had water view and CL available, so I'm content to stay at WL.... for now!!! Enjoy the location!!!
We loved AKL. The only night I felt like it was too far away from everything was coming home from DD. But DD is far from everything except the resorts on the lake (POR, POFQ, OKW, SSR)! We didn't do much back and forth that trip but we also don't mind the bus rides.

I almost bought that cd with all the ride music too! That one is next on my list!

lacey - I think I need to go check out some itunes. I love the Wishes sountrack! :pixiedust:

I highly recommend the soundtrack. It was $7.99 but OMG so GOOD! DS and I listened to it twice yesterday from start to finish and I could close my eyes and feel myself on Main Street!!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
So last night, dd1 was giving me a hard time again for going to WDW without her. She is off school from yesterday mid-day through Monday and she wants to go down soo bad. It just isn't happening this weekend. We have too much going on. And airfare is ridiculous (yes, I checked!). There are some great airfare deals for just before Thanksgiving but we would have to go mid week and she can't miss school. SOOOO we are looking at 2014. It is the first year the kids haven't gone in 5 years :worried:
BUT, we talked about next year. There is a 4 day weekend in February and luckily, its not Presidents' Day! My other two would have to be pulled out but it is so much easier for them since it is elementary and middle school. Then, in July, we are staying a week at the Gaylord for a national dance competition. So if we have APs, we can pop over for dinner, fireworks, a ride etc. We are possibly planning on being in FL for two weeks total. Original plan was one week at the Gaylord followed by one week on property but given the temps in October, I am not sure I can do July for a full week. Still debating..... THEN, we could do one more trip in October for F&W. So that would be three trips!!! I don't know if dh will go for all of that but I am noodling it.
I should get the Wishes soundtrack. I have Four Parks, One World which I LOVE, as well as Illuminations. Both get heavy play time in my car. :dance3:
Pas - thanks for keeping us current and starting a new thread! I better book a trip so I can be on page 1!!!! Do you think dh will go along with that logic? I actually looked at the 25% off too but I wasn't ready to pull the trigger. I need my oldest dd (i.e., my travel agent ) to weigh in.
Well, I can concur with your logic. Think of it as an investment in the vacation fund!!! And totally refundable. I have one last final exam..and I am gonna start the thread.
I dunno ladies....I'm wanting this one pretty bad....
Uh-huhhhhhh...that was SO yesterday (as KOOKalicious would say...miss that fine lady)
Nice!!!!!!!!!!:beach:
Pas: You need to make yourself a BWI ressie... and a different one for him.
Hahaha..sadly he may be fine with that :lmao:
WL is awesome!!! :thumbsup2
pas - Sorry about DSs shots :hug: Yay for SM though. I'll send growing vibes for Bree.
DS is doing great, but DH reminded me he HATES roller coasters :sick: I guess he will hang with Daddy who also hates it....
Just a quick hello from my bed! Sorry I can't multi quote but I wanted to thank everyone for all their feel better wishes. So happy to have so many good friends! Now if any of you have any power with the government please use it. We depend on our two Social Security checks and DH's disabled Vet check. Maybe there will be good news soon.
:hug:
The bottom lists when they anticipate having the rest of the resorts online... I've been toying with the BB rooms at WL and now I know how to word the request. Of course, I need to KEEP the reservation if it's going to work :rotfl:
LOVE WL, did I say that already:lmao:
DH wants to hold off 'going big' until the girls are old enough to remember it. We already have an angry 6 year old because we went to DL when she was 18 months and 3, so she has no real memories of it
:flower3: All the more reason to go every year!!
Hi GG, Looks like good news for your checks. All just passed, govt open tomorrow. Hope you feel better soon!
:cool1:
Allow me to do a S.D.D - well, single months anyway!!!!!!! Just popped under 10 months!!!! :cool1:
I seriously act as if I haven't been twice this year already. :rolleyes:
It is never enough Candace!!!
I think I just read MB's just went live for December?:confused3
I just did all my FP:yay:
:thumbsup2 I would do October over July anyday...we will not be doing July again...:scared:
Ummm, is it MoNdAy yet? :rolleyes1
***Manic laughter ensues*** :rotfl::lmao:
:lmao: It's Monday somewhere....
Oh oh oh, is someone itching to change????
False alarm....Systems all a go at GF....I was getting a little cheap in my head :rotfl:
I've got a good deal, I've got a good deal...I have to keep repeating this. It's only $190 more than our 10 nights at YC!!! I've got a good deal....
You do have a very good deal! As you and I have said, we never know when they are going to end (or really limit) the very helpful mil offer. Might as well enjoy GF!!:dance3::dance3:
And since you'll be in the neighborhood, would you have a scone with jam and devonshire cream for me? :laughing:
YAY to everyone who was able to get back to work and those who won't have to wait for delayed funds!!! :banana::banana::banana:
It's so funny you posted that!!! I had just seen that CBR is likely going to be refurbed next spring/summer and thinking "hmmmm, 3 beds at a Moderate... good value!"
BUT, with all the WL lovers in here (thanks to EVERYONE for the affirmations), I'm telling myself that the proximity to MK, food options, and DELUXE-ness is worth the extra expense. And that the rate can't be beat!... right? :rotfl:
(as a side note, as of tomorrow I will have had the same reservation for a while week! My record since making it 4 months ago is 10 days!)
On a scale from 1-10, how bad is it that I'm leaving in 3 days for our (first EVER, no kids) trip and I'm obsessing over where to stay next August :sad2:? My youngest wants the Poly soooo bad and while everyone initially agreed reno's wouldn't be an issue, now that there is more talk that the pool and GCH might be out of commission, they're not so sure - well, everyone but youngest - she says she still doesn't care :rolleyes:. I've thought, ok, we'll split the stay since we now have A/P's....well, she now says if it's split, she still wants the Poly, then AKL as her second choice. Well, mama is saying if we split, I want to try another new resort and would consider Poly and CR - DH is on board, but girls don't care for the theme of CR....UGH!!!! What am I going to do :scratchin
So there are already change of plans for the wedding. Due to a couple of Jewish holidays happening the weekend of and after my current wedding and Disneymoon dates, I need to make some changes. What is the middle of October like weather wise and crowd wise? I was really hoping to do the last weekend of September/first weekend of October because it seemed like it would be a really low crowd time plus the weather might not be as hot, but this totally ruins my plans. :( Any help would be appreciated!
Honestly it is still hot right now. We were in WDW 2 weeks ago and it was brutal. Right now we are still in the high 80's. End of Sept is still very hot and humid and very much hurricane season. The later into the year you can wait the better. Crowd levels seem to be on the rise and of course F&W doesn't help. But generally Oct, besides Columbus Day weekend isn't too bad. Hannah :wave: I'm thinking about late October myself for next year. I've read the humidity usually starts to drop mid-October of course Melissa just said about it still being hot and it's the 18th but that is Florida.
Sorry your having to change your plans but going a bit later if it is cooler will be better plus you can still do MNSSHP, and F&W :)
Was the week I was there an anomoly? I didn't find it to be humid (except in the mornings, but that burned off) at all, it was gorgeous weather the entire time I was there! :thumbsup2
Yep! We were saying how much nicer the weekend we saw you was then when we went back the following weekend. The humidity is starting to level off, but the heat is still brutal. I just looked, 90 all week :( And the end of Sept is usually when we see our major hurricanes and really heavy rains.
