Hello everyone,
Just got back yesterday from our Wonder cruise. It was our second cruise and our first with DCL.
First off I would rate our cruise 7/10.
Ship was in great condition, barely saw any signs of aging at all, was just almost always very clean and tidy (sometimes return towel bins would overflow lol) but overall VERY pretty and nice ship. The maintenance crew is doing an amazing job with her, but we felt the were a bit to omnipresent during the day on the deck. Apart from some rust spot inside the cove pool, the ship is in great condition. (9/10)
Crew was very friendly and smilling all the time, no matter what section or team they belonged to, it was always smiles and greetings. (9/10)
Spa treatements and crew were fantastic 2 thumbs up to Cheryl Michelle from Ireland and Lauren from South Africa, they were just perfect. (10/10)
Room was perfect and very clean, our attendant was very nice (10/10)
Activities were nice aboard the ship and shows were very fun. Bingo was a bit on the expensive side. (9/10)
Jamaica : Excursion was PERFECT (Dolphin trainer for a day), we just loved it, time out of ship and return time were just great. (10/10)
Grand Cayman : The worst excursion we did (tiki beach), sand was nice where chair was, but when you got in water very grainy and rocky and tiny pieces seashells like sand, and coral reef about 20-30 feet from shore, so could not swim much, drinks were outrageously expensive, got back to ship, tried to find a restaurant near docks, found none, shops were quite expensive too...... so no lunch that day (4/10)
Cozumel : the excursion was wonderful (horse back riding) 10/10. DCL planning was horrible, left the ship at 10h45 AM and back at 3h30....no restaurant at ranch, so basically no time for lunch here either (heard same compmlaint from other cruisers too), so i give DCL a 3/10 for planning.
Weather was just awesome, we were just blessed with it 10/10 for mother nature
Next section i have to compare to our previous cruise experience on Celebrity
Breakfast : Very good but same thing every morning at buffet (except one morning there were pancakes and red skin cheeze) but taste was very good.
Lunch : 4 rows of the same things at beach blanket, actually just had lunch there once, other days we were on excursions or was not appealing to us.
Diner :............. worst part of our cruise for both me and my wife. Some things were very good but others were just bland or really bad. Menus, to our taste, seemed to lack diversity, like the last night, appetizers were fish/seafood based 3 out of 4 items. Last night order the sirloin steak and it was thin and burnt and our waitress only came to check out on us (like always) when people were done eating to remove plates, so told her, and got an appology and was asked if i wanted something else....everyone was ready for desert. (second it happened, had happened to me and my wife with chicken, which was very untasty). Dont know what we pay gratuities the head server for..... We found main dining on Celebrity much better and much better service overall (menus were more well balanced too). Made formal complaint to guest service about dinner, and girl just shrugged and said she would report it....never heard from it
Palo : was good and ok, not great, and not as good as San Marco on celebrity
So eating on Wonder was just ok 5/10
But we did meet very nice people, our dining table seating families were just great and did meet other great people which will be friends for a long time.
We did enjoy our cruise, but we find it could have been better, ship is awesome, crew is awesome.
Have a nice day
