Hi everyone. I am new to Poly and working on my online check in. I have been researching for a couple days. There are 5 of us and we have the standard/garden view booked for dec 1-6. I just know my boys would love a view of the monorail. So after researching I was thinking Aotearoa. Monorail view plus it's close to the beach which my boys would also love. I was also looking at Rarotonga? I think those are my only choices for monorail view right? Anybody have any reason why it would be better other than proximity to the TTC which I'm not worried about. I don't care to walk. Also with young kids do you all think ground floor is better? Second floor balcony would have been nice I guess but the two with monorail views don't have balconies right? Would be nice to sit and relax on after the kids crash. Thanks so much for any advice! Oh and thanks to tikiman. Your site has helped me so much!

Rarotonga has balconies. We had one in May.

Hi all - we are excited to visit Poly GV CL in January and we are working on our nightly plans... we plan to watch Wishes from the lounge (8pm most nights that we are there) - will the EWP be at 9pm? It was at 9pm in July but I'm not sure if that changes in the winter. Anyone know? I can't seem to find it anywhere. Thoughts on outdoor movies? Do they run in the winter? Times?

Thanks so much! This is our first time visiting in the winter months and I'm excited for the lower crowds and just for going back!

It's always at 9:00

When we were at POR for the 2012 marathon they still showed movies. I want to say they started them earlier, maybe 7, since it gets dark sooner, but maybe it was 8.

I should clarify when I said "they are always at 9:00" I was talking about the EWP. I don't know if the movies are earlier in the winter. I would guess yes. :confused3

We will be there week of 10/26. Our first time. We requested standard rooms in Tokelau. I just read about the construction. We will have two days of napping in the room (preschooler). If anyone thinks we should request a different longhouse we would be grateful for your opinion.

What matterscto us...
Proximity to GCH
Not too too far from pool
Views

Thanks!

We stayed this past week and were in Aoteroa. Loved the location. It's close to the captain cooks, the ferry and the pool. Very quiet. Oh and had a view of the monorail.

We stayed in Aoteadroa and had a monorail view. We loved it. Very quiet part of the resort, but close to captain cooks, pool and ferry.

Just returned from 8 nights at the GF. Great vacation, but its not the poly! Already thinking about how/when I can get back and stay at the poly just to get my fix!

Checked into the Poly today...yeah! But...

3rd stay this year and worst problems with keys (KTTW cards/magiic bands) to date. I'll provide more info later but HOURS spent on the issue. Seems I've provided some great 'testing' info so yeah me???

Bedtime - please no jet flushing...

And to end on a good note, we got our room request for Tokelau :)

Checked in yesterday. First time at Poly. The grounds are beautiful. Small glitch with my daughter's magic band but was fixed right away. The fridge in the room was not cold at all, but thankfully I had been reading post on here and told my hubby just keep the cabinet open and it is working fine. Wasn't feeling the Disney customer service was as expected until dinner last night at Chef Mickey's. Our waitress was great! Looking forward to today! Haven't heard any construction noise at all.

Poly has large grounds, staying close to the main building means less walking, especially with children

Though it is one of the more compact resorts. Nothing like Caribbean Beach or anything. We want Fiji for our December trip as it has no chance of a parking lot view, at this time it is at the other side of the construction, and due to my walking difficulties and needing to use a wheelchair it is close to the GCH. Yes we will hear the luau music but I think it adds to the feeling and it ends at ten.

we are going at the end of Dec, first time at Poly, and trying to decide which building to request..

There is also a knob at the back of the fridge. Pull the fridge out and check to make sure it is in the coldest position. I learned that on here. Sorry you had a glitch with your bands. When we used ours last week they worked perfectly but we did not have dining on them. That may change things in December

We will probably be there at the same time as ours is at the end of December too. We are requesting Fiji. Good views, so far on the other side from the construction, no chance for a parking lot view, and close to the GCH. Not telling you where to stay but where we decided due to things that are important to us. Also the beach on that side is not crowded at all.

Just looked at our tickers and we will be there at the same exact time. Would love to meet up with you if you care to. It is certainly okay if you do not.

Fiji does sound like a nice one, especially since I will need to hit the gym a few times and it is down the walkway at the GF. :thumbsup2

Sounds like you may have found your perfect longhouse. I hope we both get what we want. I would like to check out the gym myself.

Our fridge's knob was un-adjustable a couple weeks ago. They removed the part that you can move back and forth. We figured it was part of the replacing refrigerator project, as we were always able to adjust them before. The fridge was not nearly as cold we would like.
