disney refillable mugs

what do people think about the new refillable mugs. if you didnt see the video yet disney is taking away the old mugs. you may purchase a new mug with a micro chip that is programed to your trip. the soda machine will only despense when it detects the micro chip and if you have refills left on your trip. you get three a day for the your trip. you can reuse your mug next trip and buy more time on it. I wonder if they are still giving them free with the dining plan havent heard that yet.

But where are you getting the idea from that you only get 3 refills a day? You get unlimited refills for the length of time you purchase the mug for - $8.99 for 1 day, $11.99 for 2 days, $14.99 for 3 days, and $17.99 for length of stay (4+ days). And yes, you do still get the mugs free with the dining plan.

i was just curious if anyone used the new beverage system yet. I thought i heard it moved to all the hotels now not just the demo hotel. the new cups have to have the chip in them to use. was wondering what people thought about if it was still benefical to get.

If you buy a paper cup I believe you get four fills (or one fill and three refills if you prefer ) in one hour. The mugs are unlimited refills.

If you have the refillable mug you can refill every 2.5 minutes. If you have the paper cup you get 4 refills for 2 hours.

We were just there and the mugs worked well. You can fill them unlimited every 2.5 minutes. You actually get about a mug and a half as there computer over estimates a "fill". So every 2.5 min you get a mug and a half.

For people on dining plan that get it "free" it great. I stopped buying the refillable mug when the price went to 6.99. I just think its way to expensive. $9 for 1 day until midnight? But I always have a car...can you still buy 2 liter cokes in the gift shop?

It may not be economical to use for a single day, depending on your usual consumption. But for a length of stay mug it can, indeed be of great value.

We stay for 10 days. The current cost is $17.99. So that comes out to $1.79 per day. On any given day I will have 2 mugs of coffee in the morning, 2 mugs of lemonade or coke in the afternoon, and a mug of hot tea and at least one more soda when we return to the resort in the evening. I'd say I'm getting a pretty good deal.

I doubt that there are many people who are buying the one day version.

I used the mugs last month and they worked just fine. DH & I mostly drank coffee and ice tea which are not hooked up to the chip so there is no time delay for a refill. We got our mugs free with the dining plan, but have always purchased them in the past as we usually stay for at least 8 days. OP your mug is only good for the trip when you bought it for the amount of time that you bought it. It is not good for future trips.

We had no problems with them at CBR. Actually I noticed one machine was not working at night. It filled but didn't show the cup, could refill it quickly again.

Which locations have the new refillable mugs with the chip? We are doing a split stay at SSR and BLT at the end of the month. Anyone know how split stays are handled?

We had no problems with our mugs. We were there for a week so bought mugs for $17.99 for "length of stay." The CM didn't ask how long we were staying, and the computer showed we could refill until October 3. Our last day was Sept. 26. I generally got two mugs of coffee each morning, then a couple mugs of soda or lemonade in the afternoon or evening, sometimes more, so I'm sure I got my money's worth especially when drinks usually cost somewhere around $2.39 in a restaurant.

We stayed for 15 night in September. We did a split stay and it was great to be able to use the same mugs at both resorts. We also pool hopped (DVC) and we able to use them at the pool we hopped to - brilliant!!!
