That's Hubby and I back in 2007 taking a fun pic in front of the castle.

Below you'll find me, the author of this trip report. Like many of you, I am a Disney nut (perhaps fanatic is a kinder word?). This pic is from '09, finally getting to enjoy a ride in the front car of the Monorail (before it was no longer allowed). Observe Disney nerd face. I am proud of said label. I know that in this safe little corner of the internet, a woman in her 30s proudly wearing her Mickey ears will not be the subject of teasing! :rotfl:

Here I am back in the 70's. While others were out disco dancing and growing insane side-burns, I was busy being a Mouseketeer. It was here my 'obsession' with Mickey ears started. Growing up in Los Angeles, I was fortunate to spend much time at Disneyland. While I may live in South Florida now, DL (before it was ever DLR) will always be my home park. Though, I still love WDW, and I'm happy to be only a few hours away!

This dude is my awesome husband of 8+ years. While he enjoys visiting the Disney parks, he is not as uber enthusiastic as me. Still, he has fun, and Disney bring out his more playful side. Now that he has visited with his child (more on that), he professes to enjoy Disney way more. Here he is during our last visit while on the Behind the Seeds walking tour at EPCOT Center.

Pre-child, our last *real* trip to WDW was back in 2009. I was fortunate to go three different times that year with DH, friends, and my mother. DH and I spent a romantic anniversary while at the World.

But during our visit, we both had a nagging feeling inside. Something was missing. I couldn't put my thumb on it until DH said it out loud. While outside The Living Seas at EPCOT, I observed DH staring at a father with his young child in his arms. He looked at me and said, "I'm ready. I want to come back here next time as a dad." It was a sweet moment.

Flash forward to Valentine's Day 2010. I stared down at a pregnancy test telling me our lives were forever to change. Cupid sure gave us one heck of a gift that day!

As the weeks of my pregnancy sailed by, we realized we were going to be parents. We were happy, we were freaked out!

Before Halloween 2010, I gave birth to a beautiful little girl. We brought her home to her nursery, fittingly decorated with Shag's 50th Disneyland prints. My friend went to Disneyland and got us some infant ears for little Miss J. A future Dis'er was born!

Here's my little Mouseketeer at 7 months old. She wasn't in the best of moods when I took this pic, but I still love it. She now treasures that stuffed Mickey.

And here's a pic from when she was nearly 2 years old. She sure loves her ears.

A SEASONAL TR? Why?

Confession time. I had started a PTR back last fall. It was in preparation to our first major trip back to WDW with our 2 year old during the holidays. To be honest, I was in a bit of a funk after returning (the post-vacation blues) and just slacked on my PTR. For my previous readers, please forgive me?

However, as we had AP this past year, I was fortunate to make a trip each season so far since December. So I thought this would be a perfect time to share photos and stories before we go on our last WDW vacation this year.

So here's a breakdown of my TR coming and the PTR that awaits!
  • December - 1st WDW trip during the holidays (MVMCP) and DD's 1st visit!
  • Spring - A May visit with a dear friend (who hadn't been there since 70s) and DD!
  • Summer - One crazy night at MK!
  • Fall - Coming up! DD's 3rd B'day and MNSSHP!
  • Fall - Bonus! Visit to Disney's Vero Beach!

Coming Up Next -- Preparing for the December (2012) Trip!

December 2012 Preparation

Our trip last December was super special. It was the first time our DD (then 26 months) would be going to the parks at Walt Disney World! This was also our first time at WDW for the holiday season. I had gone to Disneyland during Christmas as a young child. But I was super excited to see the parks all festive and the special events that only are available during the season.

To prepare my toddler for her first real Disney experience, I decided to introduce her to all that is Disney! I called it Disney University!

We took photos in our Mickey outfits!

Yes, even the dog got in the spirit of things!

We collected cute outfits for the big trip (I was good with sales!)

We watched the Disneyland "sing-a-long" DVD from 1990 over and over and over again. All at her request!

We stocked up on cheap goodies from the nearby Disney Character Outlet here in South Florida:

We watched You Tube clips of kids meeting characters and going on rides:

Again, even the dog got in on the festivities!

and then...and then....

Please all rise and cue up Pomp and Circumstance...

We Announced, Miss J, as an Official December Graduate of Disney Parks University!!

After 11 months of 'training' DD to love all things Disney and be ready for her trip, I believe she is all set to explore Walt Disney World and be thoroughly entertained.

Course completion:
  • 20+ viewings of the old early 90s DVD: Sing Along Songs - Disneyland Fun
  • Multiple reading of Meet Me in the Magic Kingdom by Kathy Jakobsen
  • Talking about the 40th Anniversary of WDW/Disneyland Shag print that hangs in her room
  • Countless sessions of watching You Tube for ride footage, Wishes fireworks, & character interaction
  • Mickey Mouse Clubhouse/Minnie's Bowtoons became her favorite show (surpassing Yo Gabba Gabba)
  • Successful name and visual identification of the main Disney characters
  • Reviewed a FB album created by her ridiculous mother of all the character pictures taken so she could see Mommy and Daddy with Donald etc.
  • Could sing a long with some classic Disney ride soundtracks

Extra credit: Apply all knowledge during an actual Disney vacation. :rolleyes1

As she was enrolled in my University, I also worked on my spreadsheets, and re-worked, and re-worked them.

I even was able to convince DH to spend one extra night at WDW. It gave me one more day to plan and a new resort to explore, Art of Animation.

I knew I was done when I posted this to my (then) PTR:

You know you are officially ready for your Disney trip when:

-You look for your underwear, and realize it's already packed.

-You log onto the Disney dining site and are suddenly bored as you have no ADRs to search for anymore (not even for fun).

-You start doing touring plans for your friends who are also going in December, but do not know the ways of being a planner.

-You've made ever tweek possible to your own touring plans, testing out every potential snag or toss up.

-You have nothing left to post on your PTR.

-You have memorized the exact shows time when Mariachi Cobre will appear.

-Your are posting a stupid list like this on your PTR and Dec Roll Call thread.

Hi Tofu!! :wave2: Popping over from the wonderful Dec thread :) Enjoying reliving Dec trip through your report!

Hi!!! Because I am re-living this trip right now via this thread, I actually got confused when I saw Christmas stuff at Target this week. I was thinking, this would be perfect for our trip. DOH!! Happy to have you here!! :grouphug:

I just got the official email notification that I made it to Round 2 of the Disney Parks Mom Panel search!! I applied for the WDW specialty!!
:cheer2::cheer2::cheer2:

On Monday afternoon, I will learn of the essay questions and video that must be submitted by the end of next week. While I am tempted to film my video at WDW (how cool would that be?), I am afraid of technical glitches. So I will spend this weekend packing and freaking out, so that way I can get to task come Monday evening!

I'll keep you posted. It would be an absolute DREAM to serve on the Panel. This is the third time I've applied, and the first time I've advanced to Round 2. I am so grateful for the opportunity. Hoping for more pixie dust! pixiedust:

Can't wait to read more! Hopefully I will be a little more consistent with Dis'ing.... I've gotten caught up I'm FB dis groups :) your daughter is so adorable!

Also, congrats on moving on with the Moms Panel!

Danielle, I'm impressed!! I was born in 1995 and I love the Disneyland Fun sing along. I read one of your TRs and I love vintage Disney!!
