Ok for me to skip cruise and wife and kid still go?

Hey All,

Looks like a medical issue may keep me off October 20 dream cruise. Any issue with my wife and daughter going without me?

No insurance. I've cruised 14 or so times and never bought it. The money I saved more than makes up for the ~725 I would lose by not going. Schedule wise I don't want to reschedule anyway. I'm just hoping wife and daughter can go with a minimum of fuss.

I can't believe that there'd be a problem with them going without you. If you're inside your cancellation window that you'll not get back your part of the cruise. But someone not showing up would not necessarily raise any red flags. I'd probably call DCL in advance and let them know. Since you are probably the primary on the reservation, it might be good to change that to your wife.

No Problem taking them on her own, just write a letter outlining that you know she is on the cruise and your children are in her custody.

I take the kiddos to Disney solo all the time, we have a blast. We miss daddy but we have a good time anyway!

Edit, hit sent by accident not finished typing on phone

Another option they can do is change your name out I think their is a $55 charge and maybe your daughter can take a friend

I will be on the Dream in December with my two kids while DH stays home due to work schedule. I don't believe I need any additional documents besides the required BC/DL or passports. I think the only letters required are if a child has a different last name than the parent/guardian they are traveling with. So I don't believe your DW & DD should have any problems.

My sister had to back out of our cruise so we name changed her for grandma...just a thought, if you have a friend or relative who'd like a "free" vacation with your wife and kids.

I have cruised before with my son without DH going....and that was to Mexico on the Mexican Riviera....thought I would miss him and my older son who both opted out since we had just gotten back from the Alaska cruise....I had a great time :) Sorry to hear you are not feeling well.....get better soon

So sorry that you can't go! Whatever happens, hope you are up and 'at em soon! :thumbsup2

My mom had to cancel at the last minute due to illness. No insurance. She sent a letter to DCL with a note from the Dr. And they sent her a credit for the next cruise. We were shocked; she only did it because the Dr told her to. What a great customer service gesture. Also win/win as she did not go alone and we took the next cruise much sooner than we would have otherwise. This was on our first trip with DCL and one of the many things that sold us on the whole experience.

Are you the lead passenger on the cruise? If it's in your name, that will be a problem from what I understand.

It's easy to change the lead name to someone else who was on the original reservation. There just needs to be one person who actually cruises who booked originally.

I've cruised alone with my son a few times due to DH work schedule. I did not need any letter or document at all.

Same here, but I took one anyways.

You know, I couldn't believe they still had our pics in the system for our KTTW card. I was happy they used the one they had...I was skinnier :lmao:

Thanks for all the advice. I had good news today, cleared to go. My daughter swore up and down she would not go without me so that debate has been put to rest.
