Parking at the Port?

We have a hotel booked that offers the 40% off for port parking, so we are going to give it a try. I had a few questions about parking at the port:

- will we be able to/should we drop off the bags before we park the car?

- does each ship have its own terminal? Will it be pretty easy to find where we should park for the Dream?

- is there an option to park in a deck vs a lot? Any price difference? Is one more convenient than the other?

- do you prepay when you park or pay on the way out?

DCL only has one terminal. Cruise terminal #8. It will be clearly marked from the highway. there is a parking garage and a parking lot. cost is the same. You pay when you leave. The parking garage is nice as it keep the car out of the hot sun and weather and is convenient if you use the walking bridge that connects garage to terminal.

Note that they do charge for the day you leave as well...here are the prices:

Whether you park in one of our terminal lots or parking garages, the rate* for the following cruises are: 3-day, $60; 4-day, $75; 5-day, $90, and 7-day, $120 for vehicles up to 20 feet in length. For vehicles longer than 20 feet, the rates are $104, $130, $156 and $208 respectively.

How it works is when you enter at the port you will pull up to the sidewalk where a cm will take all your luggage for the cruise (so have it tagged and accessible.) It is kinda like doing curbside check in at the airport only you do it from your car. After that you will proceed to the parking garage and park. Then enter the terminal with your carry on stuff. It is so convenient and easy that we would never do it any other way! So really you don't have to deal with your luggage at all which is awesome!

Oh- and when you check out hand them the 40% off paper from your hotel (don't forget to specifically request this at the hotel as they don't automatically give it to you. We got ours at checkout.) They will adjust the price from there. It is a great deal! We did that our last cruise and were very thankful we did!

Next question: Everything I have seen says the parking garage opens at 11:00 AM. With the new earliest arrival time 10:30 AM, has the garage opening also been moved up?

Pretty sure it was 10:30. Regardless I know we were parked before 11. We were onboard by 11:30.
