Debarked this morning from the Wonder's first Galveston sailing and already can't wait to go back! I'm not into writing trip reports so here are some highlights!

-FE: This was our 2nd Disney curise, but first time participating, LOVED it! We only signed up for one of the three groups our meet thread decided to break it up into which was 30 cabins, next time we will do all groups if it's broken up again because it was that fun!

-Castaway Cay: First visit and it was even better then I imagined, started with the 5K which was HOT, and ran straight to the water which sadly didn't last long. DO NOT FORGET TO BUY SEA LICE CREAM, we got stung a lot and because of that only stayed in the water for small amounts of time. BEST PART was the fact that the Dream came to the island to welcome back the Wonder since this was her first trip to Castaway since going to Alaska. Getting to hear the horn battle between the two ships was amazing! I've never been on a dream class ship just the two classics, so getting to see the two next to each other from Disney's beach was just priceless.

-Nassau: we did not walk around town, but via Disney did the beach day at Atlantis, which was great! LOVED this beach, it had waves and no sea lice or shells just white sand and crystal water perfect for swimming! Also we almost did aqua adventure but are glad we didn't! For us there would not have been enough time to do everything that way! Instead we hit the beach for about an hour as soon as we got there, grabbed lunch (which was yummy), then went through the two aquariums. It was perfect, and by then we felt we saw a lot of the resort and now understand why it's such a big deal and can't wait for a vacation just to Atlantis soon!

-Pirate Night: Held after Castaway Cay on Tuesday night was great as usual

-Halloween: Held on Wednesday after Nassau, honestly didn't hold what I was expecting. Take your costumes for great picture opportunities with the Disney characters in their Halloween costumes, but this was the highlight for me. The deck party was just the pirate one from the night before repeated to Halloween music minus Mickey zip lining and fireworks. They gave us one small bag of candy in our stateroom that had like 5 pieces in it and that's it, no trick or treating of any kind.

-Tropical Storm Karen: the captain navigated the ship off course as our intended course would of put us right in the center, instead we passed through the southwest portion of the storm. I have never felt the ship move so much! Thankfully it was just 24 hours of the cruise, the worst part being late at night, this was the only time I needed motion sickness medication.

-Meals: MDR ones were just not as great as last cruise. Personal taste of course but I just didn't enjoy the MDR food itself as much this time around, seemed as if there was a lot more seafood on the menus this time, and being allergic to shellfish that cuts out a lot of it. Service part of course was excellent as always my serving team was GREAT, loved them. No Mickey waffles on a buffet this time around on any day, only in Triton's!

-Rebooking on board: it was these boards that led me to believe this is something we HAD to do since we are planning on more DCLs (aiming for gold) within the next year. I priced out the cruises we are planning on before leaving, the price quoted on board with that 10% off was WAY more then what I saw online for the same category of room and same group of people, no changes at all! Priced them again this morning and still they were cheaper on the DCL website then the quoted prices I got on board, so for this reason we did not rebook onboard and just plan to book direct through DCL.

Overall: great vacation that went by WAY too fast! I cannot wait to get back on a DCL ship soon!!!

The price difference may have been that I heard they include the tips in the quote now.

Does the DCL ship or Castaway Cay sell the sea lice preventative? I don't know of any stores near me that do and now I will not have time to order it online. I was hoping there would not be any sea lice :(

We are just off this cruise too. Great time, and sad for it to be over so soon. :sad1: We only got in the water at Serenity Bay, but no problems with sea lice for us. I agree that it was great to see the Dream come and say "hello". :thumbsup2

We did an OBB for a sailing on the Magic, and I noticed too that the price was higher. When I checked it, the agent was adding the prepaid gratuities into the quote. When I got back and checked, the prepaid gratuities are NOT included in our reservation online. I'm not sure why some agents do this and some do not, but the prices were not higher for us once we took that into consideration.

Is it time for another cruise yet???? :crazy2:

well that would make sense if he had added the tips, but then he was still quoting us list price+tips with no 10% off, because what he quoted us at was $400 more then what the current online price is.

did not see it anywhere, I'd suggest overnighting it via amazon, if you are sensitive to things like this, it really bothered us!

How does the debarkation process work in Galveston? Our most recent cruise was out of the Port of Los Angeles and I remember it being a lot different than the (easy) debarkation at Port Canaveral. Thanks!

I was on this cruise too and my 3 daughters were in the ocean all day and didn't get any bites thank goodness. So sorry this bothered you and put a damper on your day at CC! The weather was perfect!

This morning they announced at 7:35 am that the ship had been cleared by customs for those wishing to do Express Walk Off (where you have kept your luggage and walk off with it rather than leaving it out the night before).

At 7:45 am (ish) they announced that those with airline tags were cleared to leave the ship.

They then debark by luggage tags and you are asked to wait in one of the public lounges (Wavebands, Promenade Lounge, Diversions) or the Walt Disney Theatre. They have a big screen in each location showing which luggage tags are currently disembarking. Ariel and Daisy were the first two this morning at about 8:00 am. Then Minnie was added at about 8:30 am. We went into breakfast at 8:45 am and by the time we got off at 9:30 am we had no wait at all to get off the ship, pick up our luggage or get through customs/immigration.

Quick side question, do you have to disembark when they call you? We like a later breakfast..

No, you don't have to go specifically when they announce your particular group. If you are going to do the breakfast dining rotation then that will pretty much dictate when you get off the ship. BBB was open from 6:45 am to 8:30 am for anyone wanting breakfast but not wanting do to the rotational dining. We were asked to be out of our stateroom by 8:30 am (although our stateroom host knocked at 8 am to make sure we were at least awake I think ;) ) and everyone must disembark by 9:30 am.

The rotational dining schedule for this morning was:

Main seating - AP 7:15 am, PC or Tritons 7:30 am
Second seating - AP 8:30 am, PC or Tritons 8:45 am.

I was on this cruise too. Had a great time for my first cruise. Can't wait to go again. Spent the CC day at serenity bay and had no problem with sea lice. I got eczema instead but knew it was going to happen cause I am proned to it. And for the menu in the MDR's I to have a shell fish allergy and had no problem with the menu choices. And for getting off, my luggage tag wasn't called yet as of 8:45 am and they said the last shuttle to IAH was at 9:30 am. I talked to a cast member and he let us off no problem and the luggage was there.

Some people in my party got stung at CC, others did not The ones who did were fortunately fairly mild, less than a dozen stings. We were at the far end of the family beach near Cookie's Too. I'm not sure if that was sea lice though. Everything I've read says sea lice bites take 6+ hours to show up. I never developed any welts or blisters, but I know something stung me. My DS did have a few welts though. There were a few small jellyfish we saw so maybe it was them. :confused3

maybe, we all got a lot of small stings but we were closer the ship. No big welts just small bumps where they happened and we were fine after we washed off with fresh water but it was just very uncomfortable for us.

I also have the palette of the broke college student I am so I'm sure that helped none. This time around the MDR food just all seemed to have some sort of shrimp in it and if it didn't it was steak (I also don't eat red meat) so I guess my being a bit picky also didn't help

The future cruise sales guy apparently wasn't with it on this cruise. He totally messed up our bookings. Wrong people in cabins, wrong addresses, he used my MIL's credit card to pay our deposit and vice versa.

The prepaid gratuities thing is a bit confusing too. We booked a dummy cruise, which is currently $500 pp. Our confirmation email says $450 pp and has another line for $96 in prepaid gratuities. BUT, when I go onto the website to look at prices, it tells me the cruise fare is $498 pp and no where is there any mention of that price including gratuities. There is no where I can remove the gratuities either, so I guess I will ask for that to be done when I call to correct all the other mistakes.

did anyone do the character tea and if so, was it with the princesses or alice in wonderland/mad hatter? i want to make a dress for my niece so trying to determine the theme!

How cool that the Dream stopped by CC. Did anyone get a picture of the two ships together? I would love to see one.

:goodvibes
