Wonderful Panama Canal Sept 2014

I am a dork. I adore cooking. My friends give me such crow because on my days off I cook all day and my favorite thing to do in the whole world is use my meat smoker.... yep the whitest girl in the world outside in my pjs (leggings, t-shirt, sweatshirt, and sandals... get the image) standing outside on the deck with my beer at 0800 and a meat smoker behind me...It's how I de-stress. When I was in my LPN program everyone knew the more detailed the recipe was the more stressed I was. We had a potluck and the head of the department came up and was like "are you okay?" because I had brunoised the pickles and bacon for the potato salad- I may have been a little stressed. :cool1:

We are counting down the days here.

I used to love cooking too, but here, I don't have the time or energy to have fun. It's a chore to come home worn out and fix the same quick dinner. Now, I still get into it on Sundays...cooking for all the kids and grandkids, I love that. I also can. In fact, since I'm being furloughed today, I am going to put up some apple butter.

Maybe if I had more time, I would rediscover my love of cooking!

Anyone having fun with the government shut down?

I think at 0100 this morning I texted my friend, Lee, and said "that's it I want to go on vacation now." In between now and then I have 1 weekend in Port Orchard (if you watch/read anything by Debbie Maccomber, it's the town she sets all her work in. She just fictionalized it.) in December and a bachelorette party (that I should plan...). Don't have enough PTO for anything otherwise.

I could get 5 weeks off if I sucked up to my boss a little and took a 3 week LOA but I don't think I could ever afford to do it.

It is my dream to be able to travel/cruise/vacation as much as a lot of you do when I grow up :rotfl::goodvibes:rotfl::goodvibes

And for the record I too am available for adoption by anyone who wants me. :joker:

No not really. Sitting here thinking I have so much to do.....but in ten days I can put it behind me for a few days and hide in my bubble!! That's keeping me going.

I've been half- watching Cedar Cove on Hallmark Channel. I'd love to see pix of the 'real' place! I'd love a house on a bay or cove-- but where the weather is generally warm!

We just got back from this cruise Saturday! And DH is already talking about making our next cruise this same one in 2014. So who knows....we may see you there!! In the meantime, if you have any questions, fire away and I will do my best to answer them!!!

hi, we have just booked this cruise, this will be our second cruise after doing the wbta in 2011, i have signed us up for the brunch and the car share from disneyland, this will be our first visit to disneyland so very excited about going there and then doing this cruise, :)

We watch it as a family. We thought originally it was supposed to be set on Anacortes/Fidalgo Island, where I live, because a few of the references they make (Friday Harbor they mentioned for example. And just thinking out loud, comparatively Port Orchard to Friday Harbor is like 6 hours worth in ferries so you wouldn't sail to Port Orchard for a pigeon calling, which makes Fidalgo more logical, but apparently the writer lives in Port Orchard, owns a yarn shop.... I don't know). My mom and I are knitters so we're going for the yarn shop, and sister, future brother in law, my dad, and uncle are going for beer and hiking. It's not warm here! It's blue skies and cold.

MomtoAlexnWilliam:

Will you be posting the navigators from this year's cruise somewhere on the web? I know there will be differences for next year's version, but it would be nice to have a vague idea of what to expect.

I second that! I would love to see the Navigators from this cruise! Pretty, pretty please?

Hi Susie, Welcome! I'm coordinating carpool from DL so we'll be in touch a bit closer to sailing. Glad to have you on-board!
Maria

Just booked Marriott Fairfield Maingate in Anaheim for 3 nights pre-cruise! It is just across the street from the entrance; it looks really nice; and, the rates are really good! Yay! I also just booked our airfare to Orlando for our family reunion in April! Yay again.... All it takes is money-- I wish I would win the lottery!!!:dance3:

Hi all interested car-poolers,
We currently have 14 possible/ 7 couples interested. I will get online and reserve 2 full size vans, possibly mini-vans depending on what it looks like they can hold luggage wise. WE WILL NEED ANOTHER VOLUNTEER TO DRIVE THE SECOND van. If you could just make a note if you would consider driving one of the vans on the Google-Doc, I would appreciate it. My spouse will drive one and we would like to drive together so we will need at least one more driver at this time; if we end up with a third vehicle, we will then need an additional. Just take a look and let me know - on the form- if you will consider driving! Thanks!!!!

MIA, dealing with a 101.2' temp and feeling like crow. I am reading that whole thread about the last Eastbound cruise.
