Join the club.. I told DH I wasn't going to tell DD we had club level till we got escorted to the elevators... But then, I couldn't stand it.. So I spilled the beans..

We can start our very own Wilderness Lodge Bean Spillers Club. Only it can't be a secret club, because we stink at that.:rotfl2::rotfl:

I can also be a member of that club. I originally booked our Nov/Dec trip at CSR...After a few days of why didn't I Just book my favorite resort, WL for the holidays; I made the switch. I had every intent of surprising my DW once we arrived in Orlando... But noooooo, I had to spill the beans. Then when Disney released their discounts I called and switched to WL CL and also received a refund of over $600 and was going to wait until we were escorted up to the 7th floor. But once again, NOOOOO I couldn't wait to spill the beans. Yes I stink at keeping a secret. :lmao:

Are the only rooms with a perfect view of the castle those on the 6th floor? Or are there rooms on lower floors that have that perfect view as well? Would 5010 likely be just as good as 6010, for example? Not sure how much the tree coverage might differ from floor to floor. We would request 6th floor, but don't want an enclosed balcony!

Here is something I found on another thread. There is a 5th floor room with a good view of the fireworks. :)

Just back a few hours ago!! room 5034 had the PERFECT view of the castle and fireworks!!

Hi Goofy4prez!! Welcome to our club!!

Well we did it. We spilled the beans.::yes:: This trip was set to be a surprise, but my kids were asking..sometimes begging for us to book a trip EVERY day. We were all set to go in August and cancelled to bring our new puppy home. So I got the great idea to surprise them with this trip. It was becoming more and more apparent that while a surprise would have been exciting, the kids were missing out by not being able to be excited and anticipate the trip. Last week my 16 year old sent me a text with a list of 30 things she would give up for Disney (one of which was her brother:rolleyes2). Today, my 9 year old was actually in tears saying "I don't even care if it's a year away, or two years away!! I just want to know we can go again one day." So it was time. We sat them down and said "December 13th.. what is that day?" Dd said "2 months after Thanksgiving". Ds said "12 days before Christmas". We then said "Nope.. it's the day you leave for your trip to Disney World." They FLIPPED OUT. Dancing, cheering, hugs and teary eyes!!!:cool1: We then discussed all the details and looked at all of the Wilderness Lodge pictures in the photo thread. They are SO excited. They are both glad we told them. So it's official..I can't keep a secret to save my life, but I have 2 ecstatic children!!! 75 days to go!!!!:cool1:

We arrive at the WL on the 17th after a night at ASMovies. I think you are the first person I have heard of with a trip overlapping ours. Glad to hear you can share in the excitement and planing with the kids.

Can someone please change my info on the Lodgers Log. We are booked back at the lodge! Don't know how I could have ever considered a different resort. Also our dates are a little different now. We will be staying Nov 16-24th, we added a day.

This is so awesome! I love the sacrifices you DD was willing to make; I would have given up my DB as well for a trip! Made me laugh! :rotfl:

:rotfl2:I knew it!

Now you can consult them on every detail which will be lots of family fun.

Congratulations on changing back to WL! Someone changed the LL;)

Is there a room 2334 at the lodge? It was weird I called to double check my request to make sure overlooking the otter pond and highest floor were put in by the previous gal I talked to and for some reason they had 2334 on my reservation...i have no idea how that got there and we aren't trying to request anything near a specific room. Any thoughts? Should I call them back and ask if that number can be removed?

And what's the lodgers log???

It could be a leftover request that remained from another resort you originally booked before changing to WL:confused3. There isn't a 2334 at WL that I know of and if there was, it wouldn't fulfill your desire to be on the highest floor. Just call back and have them remove and replace with whatever you'd like.

The Lodgers' Log is in Post #1. It's a list of guests and their dates.

ETA: I see you're checking in soon. You might want to check your MDE to see if the Room Assignor may have booked you into a different category, though I'm still not sure how 2334 would fit.

We are doing a split stay. October 4-7th at POP and 7-10th at WL. We have a bunk bed room - woods view. My friend who is a cast member got me the 40% room discount...i never used my discount when I worked costuming back in 09 so this is the closest I could come to to save some moolah. How do I get put on the LL?

Howdy folks. We are just back from a fabulous first stay at WL. Thanks for all the tips and pics that really helped make our trip that much more wonderful. A few observations about our stay at the Lodge, and other aspects of the trip.

...We stayed in room 6142 (Woods View), which was one of the top floor room overlooking the Villas. This room had a closed balcony, which was OK by me. We sat out on the balcony some, but not a whole lot. It would have been nice to have an open balcony, but no big deal.

...That big lovely lobby was a total magnet for us. We kept finding ourselves drawn to it. Listening to the soothing music, taking in the sights, soaking in the ambiance.

...DW and I enjoyed the nature trail. We walked it one evening and saw a deer grazing just a few feet away from us. Such a serene sight. We got caught pretty far out on the trail by ourselves as the sun went down, and were really troubled by hordes of gnats. I was somewhat surprised there was not a bit more signage or lighting along the way. Lots of fun though. DW and I joked that if we wandered along any longer we would wind up like the people on "Naked and Afraid"

...Mixed reviews for Roaring Forks. The Bounty Platter was disgusting; breakfast croissant was just alright; the Mickey waffles with strawberries were edible. Best meal I had there was a cheeseburger late one night

...I am an earlier riser than the rest of the clan, so had a few mornings where it was just me and a mug of coffee wandering the grounds watching the sun come up. These were some of my most favorite moments of the trip.

...I was so sad to have to leave today. Even though I am a 40something year old man, my heart was heavy and I felt a distinct sense of loss at having to leave that lovely place and end our vacation.

I can hardly wait to go back!

I think you might have had an upgrade to an outer courtyard view. Was it quiet on that side of the resort?

My DH suggested that we take the trail to our ADR at Trail's End, in the dark, and I told him that the people on the WL thread suggested that it wasn't a good idea to walk the trail in the dark.

That sounds like the perfect way to enjoy your vacation. :goodvibes

You know what the cure for that is, don't you? ;) Plan another trip. :wizard:

Being a WL rookie I am not even aware that there are outer courtyard views. This just may have been the case. :confused3 The room surely was quiet. It was situated about 2/3 of the way down away from the lobby on the 6th floor. I found it to be fairly convenient to everything. The nearby elevator took us right out to a 1st floor walkway in the courtyard that crossed straight over to Roaring Forks. An elevator a bit further down the hall took us down to the door where you go out to the bus stop. All things considered I think we would have enjoyed a room that opened to the lobby though. Oh well, I will know what to ask for next time. :)

Thanks for the update. I was wondering how it was at the end of Sept in case we want to try Food and Wine next year. :goodvibes

We found the weather to be pretty nice, but it did get fairly hot Saturday and Sunday. Crowds were very small, except for Saturday in MK. I knew Saturday at MK was going to be crowded, but the kids really wanted to spend that whole long day at MK. They made it all 15 hours!

We are loving our stay here, and especially the OFC. Haven't really had any evening offerings, but did enjoy the scallops, pulled pork and shepherds pie. The cobbler is also so yummy! So far we have tried peach and strawberry, blueberry and apple.

The cast members are wonderful also. We are headed into the MK later today to have lunch at Liberty Tree Tavern and the for the a Wishes Dessert Party. This has been a relaxing trip, just kind of hanging out and enjoying the resort.

Oh my goodness....this place was A-M-A-Z-I-N-G!!!!! We loved loved loved the stay here. The boys really liked the bunk beds. They even took turns with who got to be on the top bunk. We only had bad weather one day and the crowds were the lowest we've ever seen (usually go in October/November/February). The only thing we waited a long time for was Soaring - and that was because of the rain and EVERYONE being inside the land pavilion. All in all it was a great trip, went by way to fast and I can't believe it's over!!!.

Got all my plans in order now... had to scale back a lot but was still gonna make it happen ... now the Government shut down...:furious: If something don't give there this trip is really over....
