Mom & Son - The Last Time? An August TIW DR! 10/22 - I am Back. Updates x 8!

YES!!! We should plan that!!! We'll both be in the same semi empty nest situation and we don't just stop loving Disney because the kids are growing up right? :thumbsup2

YES! We can chat in December!

Don't forget me!!! Another empty nester here come August 2014. :worried: The first two leaving for college was hard, but when the "baby" leaves I'm going to be a mess. I think a trip to Disney World with my DIS pals might be just what the doctor ordered...STAT!! ;)

I never had kids to get the empty nest. Kids were never a part of my Disney trips! I think that causes people to give me even stranger looks when I say I am going to Disney AGAIN.

Exactly the same for me! - people at work think I am crazy ..... Which truth be told I probably am ! ;)

Vicki - we love WPE as well and will probably head down there at some point in December. I'm not sure if the parking at DTD will be even worse with all the construction though so I may well be saving it up for 2014 as well :)

I am already trying to figure a 2014 trip but Jay is very reluctant. May have to tag along on yours! :rotfl:

Cough....March....Cough ;)

I'm excited to try that WPE corn flake french toast. I had a citrus corn flake crusted French toast @ a Hyatt & it was sooo good, but this WPE one looks even better! Yummy!!!:goodvibes

So our plan had been to hang out in DTD, take the balloon ride, try out Splitsville and then have lunch at Fultons. Well, the balloon wasn't going up and we didn't feel like bowling. So we shopped a bit and then headed back to the hotel to drop off our packages. Decided to stop and grab a quick lunch at Old Port Royale.

First some CBR Pics ..

And inside --

I had the Royale sandwich with pasta salad -

Andrew had the Cuban

Both were really tasty. A nice light lunch after our breakfast. And the food court was very pleasant, bright & cheery. Not real crowded at lunch time and great music playing ...lots of Jimmy Buffet and other island type music.

I really loved CBR. Didn't expect to and was very pleasantly surprised. I look forward to staying there again.

WE really liked CBR as well. Would have stayed there again had we not spoiled ourselves by staying at VWL! We never ate any meals there though so I have no comment on the food! Glad you found it tasty though!

Agree!! People probably think I am nuts because I love disney so much and I am 28! GASP!!! I don't fit "the normal mold" I guess?

CBR is where we fell in love with WDW! We have since become DVC members but always go back to just stroll the grounds.

Ok so our dinner choice this evening requires a bit of an explanation. While we were in Disney, one of the channels was running “Mob Week” so we caught Godfather 2 in bits and pieces for several days. This caused Andrew to want spaghetti. He mentioned spaghetti, I thought Via Napoli and craved pizza. Believe it or not, I had a tough time getting a dinner ADR. So I ended up having to cancel our planned dinner at YSH. And since Andrew really wanted YSH, I ended up swapping it for Narcoossees. Thus in reality I swapped Narcoossees for Via Napoli. Signature food with a great few of Wishes for pizza.

And I could not have been happier.

Andrew started with the tortellini soup …

He loaded it up with parm cheese and loved every spoonful. Yes, every one … he didn’t even give me a taste!

I had the Fritto di Verdura - crisp fried vegetables, marinara piccante $7.00

They were fine. Light, crispy not greasy. But I was coveting Andrew’s soup and didn’t really enjoy them.

Of course Andrew had the Spaghetti e Polpettine - hand-crafted veal meatballs & tomato sauce $21.00 Now we have a thing against veal. We don’t eat it on principle but had to make an exception to get the spaghetti

And this was DELICIOUS. He did allow me one taste with a meatball. It was sooooo good.

I had to have my craved for pizza …

Pepperoni with added ham. I literally think of this pizza and all but drool. It is just the perfect pizza. And I do really enjoy the blackened from the oven crust. It was definitely worth giving up the fancy dinner.

We knew we wanted the Zeppole di Caterina - Ricotta cheese fritters, served with whipped cream and chocolate sauce $10 for dessert. We ordered and the waitress told us that they may be out of ricotta cheese. Excuse me? How can an Italian restaurant with another Italian restaurant right next door be out of ricotta cheese? After a few minutes she came back and told us that the “cheese came back”. She actually used those words. It cracked us up because of course we pictured the ricotta walking out and then deciding to come back. Silliness

These are absolutely one of our favorite desserts. Light and airy and the chocolate sauce is to die for. The waitress actually caught me eating the rest of it with a spoon.

Andrew also had a cappuccino

Dinner as with many other this trip was a complete change of plans and ended up being perfect. So perfect, that VN will be making another appearance later in the trip!

Cough....March....Cough ;)

I don't think there is any way I can do March. Any trips I take will be later in the year. Really pushing DH for Food & Wine.

WE really liked CBR as well. Would have stayed there again had we not spoiled ourselves by staying at VWL! We never ate any meals there though so I have no comment on the food! Glad you found it tasty though!

I love the WL so probably good I have never done the Villas! Deluxe accommodations are definitely not in the immediate future budget!

What exactly is the normal mold for Disney? There is something for everyone!

CBR is where we fell in love with WDW! We have since become DVC members but always go back to just stroll the grounds.

Awwww. I am really looking forward to going with DH. I know he will love it as much as I did.

Oh my goodness that dessert looks so delicious, I'll definitely be ordering that :goodvibes

Too funny about the cheese coming back - where had it been? ....., Trying to score a FP for Soarin? ;)

Mmm zeppole. Had the, for the first time last week and OMG. We were too full for desert but thankfully our waitress swayed us. They looked so heavy but were lit and airy. Didn't even need the cream or coco they were perfect on their own. And don't even get me started on the pizza. Some of the best ever, Yours looked simply Devine.

Ok so Friday was supposed to be breakfast at Crystal Palace. But you guessed it, we cancelled (in plenty of time to avoid the $10 per person charge!)

We were still off to the MK in the morning and stopped for a quick breakfast at Sleepy Hollow. We shared the nutella and fresh fruit waffle ...

Andrew also had an iced coffee float -

I can't comment on the float but the waffle ... OMG. Just heavenly. The melty nutella, the sweetness from the fruit. It is truly a perfect breakfast.

Bonus pics - we spent a lot of time this trip playing with the settings on the camera ... Disney in Black & White if you will ...

I am sitting at my desk eating breakfast right now and it DOES NOT LOOK LIKE THIS :sad2:

That waffle looks delicious :goodvibes

Ditto what Linda said. I should have not have read this post in the morning...I'm going to be hate-glaring at my own breakfast now. :lmao: That waffle is the BEST!

Love the B&W pics, too! Very cool.

I'm already missing my summer strawberries. The waffle looks so yummy & a healthier sweet treat! I think we better try those this time. ;) I love the peter pan's flight pic w/ the pop of green, great shot!

Go with the craving!!! :) I actually would pick VN over Narcoosees. I love the pizza at VN as well. We didn't fit in VN this trip but definitely looking forward to December. At least you know that they make their zeppoles fresh seeing as how the ricotta cheese decided to come back. :lmao:

I love those nutella and fruit waffles. Another thing on my list that I planned to have last trip and failed.

Ohhh I love your B&W photo at PPF with the splash of color for the gator. Marvelous!
