~~ Sew hot, Hot, HOT! ~~ A sweltering Aug 2013 TR ~ Pre-Trippie link posted! ~ 10/31!

:wave2: Hi, Liz.

:donald:

It's been a while since I've hijacked a TR (Andrea taught me well ::yes:: ) but I think it involves blathering on about MY life.

So, the back story to seeing one of your bags is . . .

My senior son joined me for part of my annual February solo trip to WDW. I splurged and we stayed at the Polynesian for the three nights he was there and then I moved to squatter's quarters at Pop Century.

The BPDE (Best Pixie Dust Ever) was seeing one of your bags, but we had a couple other PDs, too.

1. Got a Be Our Guest reservation at the end of the night when someone canceled AFTER we had already been told no tables.

2. Found my sunglasses at Lost & Found after they went flying off during Space Mountain. (The guy ahead of me in line was getting his wallet back.) They have zillions and zillions of sunglasses. If you ever lose yours at WDW, don't assume they're lost and gone forever. Check out Lost & found!

3. Got a FREE mini eyeglasses repair kit at the Polynesian for my son's sunglasses after he lost a screw,

but the BPDE was getting to see a D~ bag.

Since I expect that you've memorized every word I've ever written, you may recall that my favorite attraction is the castle. I enjoy spending time sitting on the benches around the hub and gazing at the castle, trying to imprint it in my brain so I can recall it when I return to the real world.

So there I was, on a relatively warm February afternoon. (In the interest of full disclosure, I may or may not have been eating a Mickey head ice cream.) I was doing what I do best, staring at the castle and doing some people watching.

:donald:

I thought I saw one of your bags walk by. It had the distinctive D~ flair to it, but it wasn't UPB shaped, so I thought it must be a knockoff. When I read your current Trip Report I saw that you've branched out from UPBs and are doing more messenger style bags, so I went back and looked through my photos and said to myself, "By, George, it IS one of D~'s bags!"

Like I said, BPDE.

Cheryl! I have missed you so much!!!! So good to see you here, and I love D's bag! How cool that you got to see that one! I don't think D has ever posted a picture of that bag yet....she must be slacking! So good that you were able to get the picture for us!

Today will be crazy - as some of you know, I will be taking custom orders again - which is always very stressful on me. It takes me a long time to get everyone organzied and into their spot for next year. Once I give out dates for a bag order - from my end - they are set in stone and I have yet to ever deviate from those dates - so it's just really stressful to make sure I can get as many people plugged in before their trips as possible. I tend to take my schedule more serious than some people do.

So, wish me luck as I try to make everything work over the next few days.

I hope you all have a fantastic day today! Sending out prayers to everyone in need.

D~

I'm so excited to be one of the lucky ones that get one of your bags. I'm looking forward to seeing all the new bags you make but I'm super excited about getting a D~ original messenger bag :cheer2:

I appear to be having trouble sending you a PM so let me know if you don't see something in your inbox.

Thanks!!

Jodi

At least that Cinderella looks more normal at 1900. I love the Mickey earrings - I can see why you are stalking them. I can't wait to see the bracelet you decided on.

I can't believe that you had more transportation issues. Glad to see you made it on time for your dinner reservations. 1900 Park Fare!! Haven't been there in years. Anastasia had me laughing with that face she made.
I have to admit we love the GF. We have stayed twice.
That sundae looks scrumptious!!! That happy dance you did when you arrived captures the pure excitement of finally arriving to the best place.
Have a fabulous day!!!

Wow Sandra - what a crazy weekend! You definately need a rest after that one!

Yeah I feel I do too. Oh well I'll get that this weekend because Jeff is taking Jeremy camping with the Cub Scouts Saturday night. It'll be nice to just be me, Sarah and James. It'll also be nice that Jeremy is going to get some one on one time with Jeff.

How fun gong to 1900 PF! The last time we met the steps Sarah was 8 months old and they said something about what is it about babies that everyone loves. They are disgusting! Sarah was dressed in a cute Minnie Mouse dress. We laughed because we know that's how they act.

Hi D~! I'm getting caught up. :)

I LOVE your joyful arrival photo in the room. Precious!

Your fairy godmother bag is amazing as always. You did an awesome job on the applique and all the details. I love the creativity with the design of the little zipper coin purse/wallet. Well done!!

We went to Disney Quest last summer and yeahhhhh I wasn't a fan. Why did they even have those "orrs" for the Jungle Cruise simulated ride. They didn't do anything but tick me off! You hung in there and did more than we did!!

Yikes... looooong bus ride back to FQ. Were you cold and wet?

I've only been to breakfast at 1900 but I really want to try dinner just for those step sisters. I've heard so many hilarious stories.

Great updates D~!

Anastasia's smile is hilarious :lmao: The step sisters are my favorite, I bet meeting them is a lot of fun!

Park Faire looks so fun!!! I have heard the step sisters are hilarious! I definitely have this on my list of someday "must dos".

Great pictures!

It was a lot of fun - this is one that the girls loved and want to do again.

We ate dinner there in February and it wasn't Asian then. I had the most delicious chicken Marsala ever. Did they have the strawberry soup on the buffet the night you were there?

It looks like you enjoyed the evening very much.

You know - I don't remember the strawberry soup - I didn't even research this meal at all, because it was a last minute addition. Which bums me out - because I would have wanted to try the strawberry soup.

OH MY GOODNESS that Anastasia has the face down PAT! Holy crow that's scary!
Our Anastasia i think also would play Ariel.. She sang for Meg and it was an eye opener how well she was able to sing.

Plus the Lady Tremaine? another scary looking character!

I hope the interactions were good?

Asian food?!?! really?!?! i hope it was good?? this was a dinner right?

and a big dance on not getting stuck on the monorail!!! HOORAY!

Yes, she was a great Anastasia - the interactions were OK - not as good as I expected from their reputations, but we had worse. Lady Tremaine was probably the best. I am still convinced that our interactions suck because the girls are older - if we had a little one with us, at the prime "Disney age" our interactions would be so much different. The dinner was good though, and we would go back.

Really cute pics!

Thanks!

GF is beautiful but not sure I would stay there. We plan to go see the decorations in Dec and thought about 1900 but not sure the grandson's would like it. My must stay resorts would be Wilderness Lodge and the Poly.

I have to agree - Wilderness Lodge is FOR SURE on my must do list some day... It is so gorgeous!!! Poly is also on my must do list.

Like I said, BPDE.

Hahaha.... That is one bag that I would have to pity the person carrying. :rotfl2: Very nice Cheryl and GREAT BPDE!!!!

I have certainly missed your hijacks!

OMG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Right?

I have a couple of vintage machines too. Guess I need to get them out and start using them again. I have a 1925 Singer that was the same type of machine that my grandmother had and that I learned to sew on. My grandmother's machine was lost in a flood many years ago. The other one is a 1950s Featherweight, that I love to use for straight stitching and piecing quilt blocks together.

I also have 2 treadle machines - one a Minnesota from about the early 1900s. It was a precursor to the Kenmore brand, and the other is a Singer from about 1920. I haven't actually used either one

You should take them out! I really liked sewing when I was using my "modern" machines (ahem ~ late 80's LOL) - but once I started sewing with my vintage machines, it really took my enjoyment to a whole different level. There is something so fun sewing on a machine that someone created on decades ago... It's very "refreshing".

OMG! Tha is just hilarious!!!! I love it

Yah - I hope Donald didn't pay too much for that one. :rotfl2:

I have head so many great reviews of the dinner at 1900 PF!! It looks like such a blast!

Praying your day organizing your orders goes smoothly and isn't very stressful.

Yah - it was so much fun! We'd definately go back!

It went OK - much better than previous times - I think I have a system now. LOL

I really wish I could see D~'s face when she sees this!!

~Jennifer

Um - I was speechless! LOL

That "new" bag that is way too funny!

Cheryl! I have missed you so much!!!! So good to see you here, and I love D's bag! How cool that you got to see that one! I don't think D has ever posted a picture of that bag yet....she must be slacking! So good that you were able to get the picture for us!

Oh no... I am not sure why I didn't post that one?

I appear to be having trouble sending you a PM so let me know if you don't see something in your inbox.

Jodi

Hi Jodi!!! I did receive a PM from you. :thumbsup2

At least that Cinderella looks more normal at 1900. I love the Mickey earrings - I can see why you are stalking them. I can't wait to see the bracelet you decided on.

See, and I dont' think any of the Cinderellas looked normal - I think they all had weird faces... I am not sure if that's the look Disney is going for - or what? But I'd rather they went back to the classic looks.

I can't believe that you had more transportation issues. Glad to see you made it on time for your dinner reservations. 1900 Park Fare!! Haven't been there in years. Anastasia had me laughing with that face she made.
I have to admit we love the GF. We have stayed twice.

Have a fabulous day!!!

LOL It was a good meal - and we did like both of the Steps. GF does look fun to stay at, but there are a few others I would like to try first. I hope you have a great day too.

I hope you enjoy a relaxing weekend! LOL about the Steps comment... That's too funny!

Hi Brenda - thank you! :)

Yah - what were they thinking with those orrs? They were just dumb. I sat in the back and made the girls paddle.

Breakfast would be fun if we could work it into our schedule sometime... I just hate doing breakfast at resort hotels, since that usually means we have to miss rope drop. Sigh.

Anastasia's smile is hilarious The step sisters are my favorite, I bet meeting them is a lot of fun!

Yes, it was lots of fun. V has a list of "must do" restaurants that we will need DxDDP+ for on our next trip. :rolleyes1

**********************************************************

Yesterday was a good day...

I took orders in the morning, I didn't count for sure - but it seems like I could have filled for the next 2 years in under a minute... but I am glad my schedule is full for the next year - which means job security for me, and more bags for you all to see.

I worked in my sewing room all day on my custom order applique.

And then I had to run to town to get the girls - and of course, do an obligatory stop at Target. :rolleyes1

Came home and made dinner... Chicken sandwiches...

Then I went for a nice long walk. I feel like I am totally stalled in my weight loss - I really should say "size loss" because I could care less what I weigh - I have not budged in size at all since I have been home... So, I figure, as long as it's nice outside - I will walk a few nights a week, on top of everything else I am doing. Considering I haven't budged in size - I guess that means I am doing a good job of maintaining? :confused3

I have to work at Target today... I hope it's busy and it goes fast!

Have a wonderful day everyone!

D~

I was up at 5:30 this morning.

I went down to the FQ for waters - no breakfast this morning...

The girls and I got ready for the day, then we walked down to Tasha's room to say our goodbyes... We were going to miss having her for our neighbor - it was so awesome just go give her a text to meet up! I sure hope our paths cross again!

We were on the bus to AK at 7:30.

Through the gates at 7:55 - behind everyone else...

We checked in at Tusker House at 8:05 - we had our photo taken - and Donald was there for it this time!

Photo1430FourBySix.jpg

We were seated immediately. Our server was Denise - I swear she was our server last year, she looked so familliar.

The food was delicious - as usual!

And the characters came around in a timely manner.

Upon exiting TH - we rode the Safari... We always have the most enjoyable experience riding right away in the morning. And since we were right there - we were one of the first vehicles to go out.

Awww... The baby giraffe was sooooo adorable!

And the lion in the shadows...

They did take out the poacher scene - which was OK with me... It was a very enjoyable ride for us.

So, what do you do first thing in the morning at AK? I am sure you all know what we did...

HaHa That messenger bag Cheryl "saw" was awesome!!! :lmao::lmao::lmao: I think you should make one of those for all us loyal groupies!

What great photos at 1900 PF! Dan and I almost did that one our last trip, but at the last minute I got a BOG, so it's still on our to do list. Also, the AK day is shaping up to be a great one. Glad Donald was there to give you some lovin' this time! Great photos of the animals. We got a lot of rear ends last trip! They seem to do it on purpose!:rotfl:

It must feel so good to know that you produce something that people want consistently. It doesn't surprise me, but it does amaze me. You are one talented lady. Do you get tired of hearing that?? Too bad!;)

Good for you getting out there walking! They say that a 30 minute brisk walk every other day is all it takes to make a difference. Don't get discouraged, just keep baby stepping and you'll get there.:goodvibes We're going into what I call the "comfort food" season and I'm really going to have to make my favorites a little more healthy. Creamy soups are my downfall.:sad2:

Have fun at Target today and I hope you're busy too. I know I do my part on a regular basis.:rolleyes1

That was a sad day for us too D! I hate goodbye. That why I just say "see you real soon." :rolleyes1

Tell Alli that I was so wrapped up in our "goodbyes" that I forgot to mention that I absolutely LOVE that outfit she had on!:thumbsup2

We will defintiely run into each other again someday!

BTW, great TH pic and glad you got Donald this time (we never did this trip, guess we will have a do over next year) LOL:cool1:

So glad Donald was greeting guests this time. You just look so happy to see him.

It looks like the animals were really active during your safari. You took some great pics.

I so wish I could be on your list this time around, but alas, babies are expensive to say the least. At least I have my adorable messenger bag to comfort me. ;)

First, that bag is hilarious! This is a crazy group of women! I love it!

Second, we have been on the fence about doing a Tuskner house breakfast at AK but I think you just changed my mind. Both food photos were full of food my picky toddler would love! And you saw Mickey and Donald! Hmmmm

Did you have reservations before the park opened? How was the safari line after breakfast? We were there a rope drop last year, went straight to the safari, and the line was already crazy. As the we headed towards the safari with the swarm of people we heard a guy on his phone saying "you want me to meat you at the safari?! well just look for me among the 100,000 people headed your way" That pretty much summed it up. And we were there on a "low crowd" day :scared1:

It ended up fine, we got a FP and walked the trail near by and then road the train.

:

I thought I saw one of your bags walk by. It had the distinctive D~ flair to it, but it wasn't UPB shaped, so I thought it must be a knockoff. When I read your current Trip Report I saw that you've branched out from UPBs and are doing more messenger style bags, so I went back and looked through my photos and said to myself, "By, George, it IS one of D~'s bags!"

Like I said, BPDE.
:rotfl2: Cheryl, that is just too funny. I have a feeling that bag sold in one of D~'s private auctions for BIG money. Donald probably bought it so he could finally have a bag of D~ since she always has such great Donald bags.

Glad you had a nice trip with your son, it was great that he could join you. I can't believe you found your sunglasses. I am surprised they are able to retrieve those items so quickly, I figured they would only clean out that area every so often.

D~ Love the pictures from 1900 PF, What a great last minute addition to your plans. It is nice to go somewhere new. I think you made a great choice but I didn't realize the menu was so varied. It has been four years since we ate there and the buffet was the same standards as some of the other choices in WDW (thus part of the reason we didn't go back). The girls looked like they were having fun, two sets of sisters :thumbsup2

Happy to see Donald out and meeting the folks at Tusker house. :) I can't believe that Lion was sitting out like that. Suzi must have told him to wave to you guys.

Good luck sorting out your schedule for your bag sewing. I know there are a bunch of happy folks who got a spot on your list and probably some sad folks that wish they had faster internet. :badpc:

Strange that your "size" is not adjusting to your efforts to work out and eat better. I have no advice but I wanted to say keep it up. Hopefully the Zumba will kick up your metabolism and you will need all new clothes next spring.

I can't believe how close our trip is getting. I have been busy sewing or at least making some shirts. I am thinking of you today as I just finished a Donald shirt for my dad. I will try to put together a little post about our plans for our trip. I really hope I get to have a few Dismeets while we are there.

LOVE tusker house!
their juice is amazing! Friend of min Nicole had that baby Giraffe stop their vehicle because he was rubbing his head on the mirrors of their vehicle! How cool would that be?

That Tusker House breakfast looks yummy. Can't wait for our breakfast...five weeks from yesterday, we'll be there. We have late breakfast reservations, so I think we get both breakfast and lunch.

Sorta wish Minnie was at the breakfast. I'm about to finish up a Minnie purse for DGD...will post when it's completed. Maybe today, but no later than this weekend. Gotta clean house. The in-laws are coming this weekend..

Hi D~! That's awesome that your calendar is full for a good long while making your awesome bags. You will be putting a smile on a lot of faces! :)

I love the Krispy Kreme donuts at TH...that and the Mickey waffles, and sheesh, there are so many choices that are awesome. There's certainly not a shortage of options there.

That baby giraffe is adorable. It looks like he/she is holding a pose just for you.

Have a great day!

Mmmmmm...you're making me hungry! Tusker House is one of my absolute favorite meals in all of Disney. I should clarify...Tusker House Breakfast is Nom Nom Nommylicious. I love their juice and some of the other stuff on the buffet is just awesome! I'm actually a little ashamed that I don't know what those items are. The picture of the 3 of you with Donald is so cute...and Donald is so short!

I also wanted to say here, that I am SOOOOO excited to have a place on your custom order list for next year!!! I know that whatever you come up with will be amazing...as always!
