Combining old and new point contracts?

We want to add on 50-100 points to our SSR contract.
I was just going to get more SSR points so I can book all at one time with the old and new contacts combined, is this possible?

I want to have 210 -310 for future bookings since we have out grown studio units.

My current contract is 160pts SSR March UY, do I need to look for same March UY to buy?

Yes, they both have to have the same UY and the names on the deed would have to be exactly the same. If this occurs then Disney should combine both of your contracts under one membership and you can combine points for booking.

If you have the same UY for the add on, you'd be able to use all the points together the 7 month booking window.

If the new contract is SSR with the same UY, you'd be able to use all the points at the 11 month to book SSR.

If your UY or resort is not the same you would have two different memberships.
You would be able to transfer points from one membership to the other to use all the points for the same reservation* but:
- you can transfer points in OR out only once per year. So this operation would rule out any other transfer for both your memberships
- transfers are definitive, no come back
- you cannot transfer banked or borrowed points, but you can transfer first and then bank points (so it's impossible to use 3 year's point all togheter like you could with a unique membership)
- transferred points do not show up online (unless they are for the same UY, and not even in that case sometime). So to book you need to call MS

This means that while if you have two different memberships you can still make it work, having the same resort and UY makes you life much much MUCH easier.

*= the reservation can be for SSR at 11 months if all the points are for SSR or at 7 months for any resort

I agree, except that the resort doesn't have to be the same to have one membership. If the UY is the same and the contracts are titled exactly the same, they can be combined into one membership. (This is automatic if you buy the second contract through Disney and available if requested for a resale purchase)

Keep in mind that for reservations made with two memberships, you may have difficulty with online check-in and you may also have to check out and back in again between the reservations made with the two memberships.

Two memberships could also be a hassle even if you transfr points between the memberships. Transferred points do not usually show up in your online account, so MS would have to make your reservations that use them. That could be a problem depending on what and when you want to book. Sometimes, that hour advantage is the difference between getting what you ant and having to waitlist or take a second choice.
